Netflix K-drama The Fabulous May Be Delayed Indefinitely as the Drama Contains Scenes From a Halloween Street Celebration that Cannot be Cut Due to the Narrative
In the slew of drama airing postponements this week it’s now coming to light that Netflix K-drama The Fabulous, which was supposed to be released on Friday November 4th with all 8-episodes centered around the youth and their fashion dreams, now it’s being reported that the drama may have to be delayed infinitely from being shown. The reason is that the drama contains a big Halloween street celebration scene, which makes sense as it’s set in the world of fashion and young people and Itaewon is the hipster spot for the youth. The scene cannot be cut as its integral to the narrative and the drama is also done with full post-production including all language subtitles intended for release of this drama worldwide. It’s a no-win situation for the production and the cast who worked hard on creating this drama with leads Chae Soo Bin and Minho and second leads Lee Sang Un and Park Hee Jung. Netflix can consider releasing it in all regions except for South Korea/Asia but that would basically be trying to salvage this situation now.
Unfortunate.
Probably k-dramas won’t have halloween-related scenes for quite a long while.
That’s absurd. There was a horrific school shooting in the US in May and Stranger Things season 4 aired at the end of that month with, coincidentally, a opening scene of a graphic massacre of children – which they also couldn’t cut because it was central to the story/plot.
They aired the show as it was, but put a trigger warning card in front for US viewers. If they could do that for that show, I don’t see why they can’t do similar for this one, put an acknowledgement and warning if one is needed, instead of not airing it at all, it seems like complete overkill as a reaction and it’s not like Netflix hasn’t dealt with such situations before.
didnt itaewon class have a halloween scene? will they remove that too?
