It’s good to have a plan B, or C, D, E, F, lol I don’t know how wide the production of C-drama Hidden God cast the net to so quickly line up a replacement male lead and not impact the filming schedule. The drama is slated to start filming at the end of the month in November and reportedly supporting actors and even the second male lead has arrived at the production for pre-prep. Female lead Zhao Lu Si is scheduled to enter production next week but this week came the sudden news that confirmed male lead Jing Bo Ran abruptly bowed out of the drama. Word on the street was a liuliang actor with the last name starting with W would step in and a few names bandied about were Wang Yi Bo, Wu Lei, Wang An Yu, and even Wang Jun Kai. Now it’s set, the new male lead is Twenty Your Life On‘s Wang An Yu, who reminds me of Mark Chao crossed with Chen Fei Yu on looks alone. This casting isn’t getting resounding positive feedback on Weibo but then again the original casting of Jing Bo Ran also got lots of mehs.
Who cares if it’s not getting a resounding positive feedback? I like Wang An Yu and I think he is also one of the genuinely talented actor in his age group. Pleased he is getting this opportunity.

Don’t know much about him. Let’s hope he doesn’t suck. But if his fans or himself want to get first billing on a woman centric story, drop him. The world is too short for stupidity. Pretty faces are a dime a dozen. Let’s hope he understands this show is not centered on his character and act his role well and get good results for everyone involved.
FYI fanwars aside dethe reason why Jing Boran quit was because the novel itself is not a FL-centric story and Jing Boran thought his role would be equally important but the script got edited to be FL-centric so he quit because he didn’t want to play the FL’s sidekick.
Lusi also gets what she wants, she wants to be 1st billed and have an FL centric script focused on her, that’s why it’s a nugu like Wang Anyu and actors who have more followers than Lusi like Wang Yibo Wu Lei Karry Wang are all not going to act with her if the ML role plays second fiddle, they themselves want a ML-centric role. Same goes for Dylan Wang, Xiao Zhan, Arthur Chen.
Lusi fans should stop fighting with male actor fans, from now on Lusi will probably pair up more with actors less popular than herself so she can be the top billed actress in her own drama.
Wang An Yu is one of the few pretty boys in his age group who is a genuinely very talented actor. He isn’t as popular as some of the other young actors so hopefully this will raise his profile and fanbase.
Also good he is closer in age to the FL.

Poor Wang Anyu was left with no choice.There were buzz that he personally decline this offer but his agency and the drama team force him to agree in exchange of some resources. The same with YangYang for WRTW. YY was so pitiful bec he rejected it many times but got blackmailed of being soft-banned if he will not accept it. Wu Lei only agreed once and was rumored that he will never agree to work again with ZLS after he got harassed many times by ZLS Cp fans and ZLS studio.

The reason wang anyu quietly took this project is because he had a huge scandal few months ago that wouldn’t allow him to come back with a huge role for some time, playing in hidden god still as a lead can be good for him to stage a comeback.
Everybody else getting mad can actually go and learn by themselves that the original novel has always been female centric, some of y’all acting like the female lead is gatekeeping the drama for herself when she was exclusively choosen for the role and months prior any other names like jin boran and wang anyu were put on the case, this is funny. I don’t understand why everyone is backing Lusi. I find her roles to be progressive. She is very talented and her skill is showcased with each character she portrays. Her latest drama are mature with a depth of character. Has no one ever taught you to keep your mouth shut if you don’t have anything nice to say?
