Wang An Yu Steps in as New Leading Man in Xianxia C-drama Hidden God with Zhao Lu Si with Filming Slated to Start on Schedule

It’s good to have a plan B, or C, D, E, F, lol I don’t know how wide the production of C-drama Hidden God cast the net to so quickly line up a replacement male lead and not impact the filming schedule. The drama is slated to start filming at the end of the month in November and reportedly supporting actors and even the second male lead has arrived at the production for pre-prep. Female lead Zhao Lu Si is scheduled to enter production next week but this week came the sudden news that confirmed male lead Jing Bo Ran abruptly bowed out of the drama. Word on the street was a liuliang actor with the last name starting with W would step in and a few names bandied about were Wang Yi Bo, Wu Lei, Wang An Yu, and even Wang Jun Kai. Now it’s set, the new male lead is Twenty Your Life On‘s Wang An Yu, who reminds me of Mark Chao crossed with Chen Fei Yu on looks alone. This casting isn’t getting resounding positive feedback on Weibo but then again the original casting of Jing Bo Ran also got lots of mehs.

Wang An Yu Steps in as New Leading Man in Xianxia C-drama Hidden God with Zhao Lu Si with Filming Slated to Start on Schedule — 41 Comments

  1. Who cares if it’s not getting a resounding positive feedback? I like Wang An Yu and I think he is also one of the genuinely talented actor in his age group. Pleased he is getting this opportunity.

  2. Don’t know much about him. Let’s hope he doesn’t suck. But if his fans or himself want to get first billing on a woman centric story, drop him. The world is too short for stupidity. Pretty faces are a dime a dozen. Let’s hope he understands this show is not centered on his character and act his role well and get good results for everyone involved.

    • FYI fanwars aside dethe reason why Jing Boran quit was because the novel itself is not a FL-centric story and Jing Boran thought his role would be equally important but the script got edited to be FL-centric so he quit because he didn’t want to play the FL’s sidekick.
Lusi also gets what she wants, she wants to be 1st billed and have an FL centric script focused on her, that’s why it’s a nugu like Wang Anyu and actors who have more followers than Lusi like Wang Yibo Wu Lei Karry Wang are all not going to act with her if the ML role plays second fiddle, they themselves want a ML-centric role. Same goes for Dylan Wang, Xiao Zhan, Arthur Chen.

Lusi fans should stop fighting with male actor fans, from now on Lusi will probably pair up more with actors less popular than herself so she can be the top billed actress in her own drama.

      • Wang An Yu is one of the few pretty boys in his age group who is a genuinely very talented actor. He isn’t as popular as some of the other young actors so hopefully this will raise his profile and fanbase.

Also good he is closer in age to the FL.

      • What a demon and egotistical this Lusi is. If you’re talented and people like you, does it matter if you are a FL playing second fiddle to a handsome macho ML? No wonder these stupid women don’t get married…they are busy fighting for women’s rights in their own private life. Intelligent men don’t go for such craziness.

      • Good for him to refuse to play second fiddle to a girl, especially a pathetic whiny one like that Lusi person. Men who play second female should be new to the industry and making their way up. If FL character doesn’t make much sense (most of Lusi characters don’t and not a powerful woman), a men should not play second fiddle to her as it only makes him look pathetic.

      • Personally I’m not a Lusi fan. But I do like Wang An Yu. He’s pretty new, but because of Lusi I probably won’t watch it.

      • @Fay or whatever your real name is, stop using a woman’s name, you’re a pathetic incel weirdo loser and we can see right through you 😉
Anyways, there will be more female-centric and female-led shows and movies in the future, so cry about it and die mad and lonely in your mother’s basement 😘

  3. its good they change because Jing Boran has 9 years age difference with Lusi while in the novel the ML is young. age wise, wang anyu is definitely a better choice.

    • Poor Wang Anyu was left with no choice. There were buzz that he personally decline this offer but his agency and the drama team force him to agree in exchange of some resources. The same with YangYang for WRTW. YY was so pitiful bec he rejected it many times but got blackmailed of being soft-banned if he will not accept it. Wu Lei only agreed once and was rumored that he will never agree to work again with ZLS after he got harassed many times by ZLS Cp fans and ZLS studio.

  4. Even if it’s female centric, males have always dominated stories. The times we get more of the girls, and people complain? That’s freaking weird AND shows where society is at—stuck in ancient times, apparently. I’m no feminist, but seriously?

    • Exactly. What’s wrong with a female-centric story? Every other wuxia or sageuk is always male centric and even if it’s not male-centric, they will somehow make the male characters more interesting, with the FL relegated to just a romantic plot device. So what’s wrong with Lusi or any other female actress capitalising on their leading status and wanting top billing/more female-centric script? More power to them I say.

Smh at the commenters (@Lol) above showing their weird sexist self. This is 2022 not the 1950s.

      • Agree with what you said…men can gnash teeth when women come too strongly. Lusi is a great actress..I do not think wei cringed at that though as he is so secure with his own acting skills.

    • Why should we want to see weak pathetic females rule the world?? And that Lusi whatever is everywhere….it’s actually annoying now. Some of us are intelligent educated people and want to see dramas that are logical and wisdom-inspiring, whereas Lusi is always playing a pathetic female who likes to take advantage of men using her female wiles, even when she’s supposed to be a badass girl.

  5. Wang An Yu, I love him, his acting and he got good chemistry with his onscreen partners. Too bad Chasing the Light will never see the light of the day with the bans, and I was really looking forward to it. I’m happy he’s steadily getting projects but still sad I’ll never be aired.

  6. Seriously, why is it only China that has such an issue with first billing? I hardly hear fights about first billing in other entertainment industries. Such a bizarre thing to fight about among fans when it’s suppose to be behind the scenes work. Normally, fans have no say in first billing. Enlighten me please.

  7. Good for him to refuse to play second fiddle to a girl, especially a pathetic whiny one like that Lusi person. Men who play second female should be new to the industry and making their way up. If FL character doesn’t make much sense (most of Lusi characters don’t and not a powerful woman), a men should not play second fiddle to her as it only makes him look pathetic.

    • “FeMaLeS” LMAO You’re a pathetic incel pretending to be a woman so you can spew BS misogynistic comments. That, or you’re the most pick-me mf I’ve seen on this blog, even worse than that @Rina who always finds a way to defend males.
Holy sh*t, even in a freaking K-ent/C-ent blog I have to endure males and pick-mes’ misogyny 🙄
Go back to sucking your king andrew tate’s d*ck

  8. The comment on this blog is sometimes too much, this is no positive criticism just ridiculous pure hate comment that do not make any sense any more. N u the blogger allowing this Goes to show the type of person u r, I get that u want ur blog to be always commented on according to ur posts so u let certain things slide duo u can put a stop to it or do something about it. U r actually losing fans. We all have flaws, for those who dislike a particular actress, so u always have something awful to say about her, look at urself first. So far has ZL pick up the right roles and continue to improve on her acting, girl will keep on shining n no one can do shit about it. Of course she will not be popular foever, no star can be popular but she can leave her mark like other big star have done years ago n the irony is u the haters will help do that.

    • Zhao Lusi is a big star only in your dreams. There are quite a few other women way ahead of her, starting with Esther Yu if we are talking about her age. And others are coming.

With all the forced pushing and relentless senseless filming where her “acting” is the same, she still hasn’t managed to make a huge splash. As for how long she will last, it’s an easy answer. For as long as the huge money that is backing her keeps paying.

      • The haters are either mysoginistic pricks or ppl like you that is to say esther and the other actresses around the same age as ZL fans lol. I dont even know where to begin with, esther and many others are practically idols who jumped right into acting along with their huge following if you look at their filmography esther has much more ressources allowing her to play in different dramas and yet ZL played tiny roles until recently but is already cementing herself as a giant in her own generation by acting greatly in only a few major roles, talent can’t stay hidden forever. Your likes love to hide behind random ass rumors that were never true like she has some backing but anybody smart would know that’s fake and anybody smart wouldn’t spew hateful comments like you and some others are doing on this blog, so much energy spent hating on that poor girl. You won’t be able to change anything to her ascension, not you or your favourite esther or somebody else, staying mad and quiet that’s the only thing you can and should do! Move on with your life, why would you even come on this blog to check on someone you are not interested in.

      • Question here, did you really just spend, wasted a few second of your life to be so negative with your comment. Be kind, the world need more of it today. Esther Yu, really. She’s cute and all, but hearing her voice alone give cringes. Yet alone she’s the riches heiress of all. Hmm is her acting skills delivered greatness to gets lead role or the power of her billionaire dad and he’s invested. One can only wonder(no comment here, I’ll be kind) therefore have opinions but don’t be too over opinionated:)

  9. This is what I don’t get with some fans here. Why hate on FL-centric movies or series? Just watch ML-centric projects and be contented with them. Duh its as not as if there aren’t any many options out there. Why hate on Zhao Lusi? If you don’t like her then don’t watch her dramas. There are tons of dramas out there. Stop hating!

    • Yeah, not a fan of ZLS by any stretch of the imagination, but the misogynistic comments here… Yikes, feels like I’m back in the 1950s or something 😬
Sad thing is, it’s mostly women perpetuating the sexism. Double yikes lol

  10. The reason wang anyu quietly took this project is because he had a huge scandal few months ago that wouldn’t allow him to come back with a huge role for some time, playing in hidden god still as a lead can be good for him to stage a comeback.
Everybody else getting mad can actually go and learn by themselves that the original novel has always been female centric, some of y’all acting like the female lead is gatekeeping the drama for herself when she was exclusively choosen for the role and months prior any other names like jin boran and wang anyu were put on the case, this is funny. She is not even the one fighting for the billing but the producer who wants her for the role and the male actors side who want the original novel scrapped to push forward the male lead rather than the female lead..as if we haven’t been through years and years of dramas dominated by men.

  11. Comentários absurdos. Eu a acho uma excelente atriz. Carismática, bonita, doce e fofa. Dá o seu recado e muito bem. 12. I don’t understand why everyone is backing Lusi. I find her roles to be progressive. She is very talented and her skill is showcased with each character she portrays. Her latest drama are mature with a depth of character. Has no one ever taught you to keep your mouth shut if you don’t have anything nice to say?

  13. Why should we want to see weak pathetic females rule the world?? And that Lusi whatever is everywhere….it’s actually annoying now. Some of us are intelligent educated people and want to see dramas that are logical and wisdom-inspiring, whereas Lusi is always playing a pathetic female who likes to take advantage of men using her female wiles, even when she’s supposed to be a badass girl.
