This drama may require us adapting the Taylor Swift lyrics to sing It is “never, ever, ever going to” air. I am talking about Immortality (Hao Yi Xing) adapted from the beloved BL novel The Husky and His White Cat Shizun also known as Er Ha. Starring Luo Yun Xi and Chen Fei Yu, the drama has been done filming since September 2020 and then fell victim to the C-ent ban on BL adapted dramas (BL means boy love, best explained as the popular to female readers genre of male gay romance). This was a big budget production and also basically guaranteed ratings success after The Untamed and Word of Honor but timing was this drama’s biggest enemy but fans remain hopeful it will see the light of day. This week there are murmurings that the streaming platform may air the drama solely overseas and bypass C-ent regulators to air and recoup it’s investment. I’ll be here waiting for pigs to fly.
The only thing I can say to the fans if it’s true is don’t make it viral, don’t attract unnecessary attention, and just be quiet. But I guess it’s not about fans but more of the antis and haters. They will do anything to ruin it for everyone including creating a very big noise that makes government can’t ignore it. Yeah, lot of bans were related to crazy fans behaviour and sometimes revenge either from haters or someone rich and powerful (not necessarily government officials but close to them). It’s hateful really that government can be “manipulated” like this if the noise is big enough (with their principle of peace and harmony over everything 😑).
