The liuliangs are heating up the 2023 hot C-drama summer with first Xiao Zhan‘s The Longest Promise, then Yang Yang with Fireworks of My Heart, and now tomorrow we get Legend of Anle with Dilraba Dilmurat opposite Gong Jun. We just need Lost You Forever with Yang Zi (airing soon) to send the online search engines, water armies, and antis into stratospheric levels of tizzy. Legend of Anle is adapted from a novel and tells the story of the daughter of a kingdom founding general and the crown prince of the same kingdom founding Emperor and their Romeo and Juliet romance and political machinations. I want to see Gong Jun play the stoic repressed type for once and it’ll be nice to see Dilraba in a non-xianxia role after The Blue Whisper.
Omgah yes!! Been so curious to see if Gong Jun can actually pull off good acting with a girl lead lol, and in a historical! The onnnnlllyyyy drama where he had some actual depth and a strong character was with another dude lead, so dday is coming soon!!
I tried to watch many dramas of GJ. I have to be honest. His acting isn’t impressive. He appeared ALMOST THE SAME in each drama regardless of genre even those female actresses he costarred with are pretty decent actresses. The one in which he’s the best is perhaps World of Honor. He’s got better chemistry with the other male lead ZJH than any actresses he co-starred with. LOL. I hope he will have some breakthrough with his acting skills, not his popularity. He’s got too busy with variety shows.
I’ll check this out although neither of the main leads is my favorite. I can’t recall any drama of them that I like and was able to sit through the end of eps without falling asleep. Since historical drama is one of the genres I like, I’ll give a shot to this one.
