Ji Chang Wook and Shin Hye Sun Bring Impeccable Comedic Timing and Emotional Resonance to jTBC Drama Welcome to Samdalri

Okay, is it just me or does it feel like Ji Chang Wook has 48 hours to his day because the last two years this man has been lit in how many projects he’s doing. He’s currently in Disney+ streaming drama The Worst of Evil but the first promos are out for his jTBC drama Welcome to Samdalri that feels like the same vein as Hometown Cha Cha Cha and Behind Your Touch. Small town and lots of quirks. I hope the drama script is amazing because his female lead is the extraordinary Shin Hye Sun and having these two in one drama is like co-valedictorians paired together in a production and praying it’s not wasting their time.

  1. Excited for this pairing! SHS and JCW are both great actors and chemistry magnets. I quite liked Hometown Cha Cha (despite personally feeling like the leads lacked chemistry), so we’ll see how it goes.

  3. Wow, he is very busy!! I have seen his live once, years ago. He was smoking.. I was wondering if that image will affect his popularity.. but I guess not. This is a very hardworking actor… He will give his all in his roles. I like him.

  4. Too many dramas I can’t be bothered with. Story is not engaging, and the actors.. always the same old, same old. Still waiting for the next big hit.. but I read there’s an actor strike going on, or a writer strike going on. Either which will hamper the growth of the industry..

    • I like JCW! He is a versatile actor whether it is action or romcom he really standout. I got teary eyed in The Worst of Evil i hope in his new kdrama series i could laugh out loud 🤩🤩🤩

  5. Both are charismatic actors and it feels like they might have some unexpected chemistry. Apparently they are incorporating old school songs into the drama a la the Reply series. I won’t get my hopes up, but with the production team I think it has the potential to be good.

  6. I like both SHS and JCW, and clicked on the teaser hoping for something interesting…but no, it is a rehash of HTCCC. Even looks like the same seaside town, just different casts. The only great thing about HTCCC is the opening song, I drop it 2 episodes from the end because I couldn’t care less what happens to the leads anymore.

  7. I was one of those people who didn’t enjoy HTCCC (snoozefest script, 2 lead actors who are good-looking but had no chemistry) and neither did I enjoy JCW’s other “small town”-ish drama, Lovestruck in the City. He’s one of my fave actors, but he’s kind of bland in romcoms and does better in action/suspense. I hope I’m proven wrong this time.

And SHS, one of my FAVORITE actresses! I hope she and JCW have chemistry and it’s not another HTCCC scenario. Fighting!
