Tencent Premieres Period War and Romance C-drama Wonderland of Love with Xu Kai and Jing Tian

It’s a good last few days in C-ent as there are now more interesting C-dramas released to check out and fill the late fall void. Tencent premiered Wonderland of Love with Xu Kai and Jing Tian doing their best Romeo and Juliet in war torn Chinese kingdoms impression with likely lots of fighting standing in for flirting. Both are dealing with meh recent dramas, him with Snow Eagle Lord and her with The Legend of Zhuohua so hopefully this one pairs them up with a solid story and directing.

  1. Finally a costume piece! The modern C-dramas currently airing are horrible. Hopefully this is good. Jing Tian is gorgeous and a talented actress. Xu Kai is passable, but he does tend have good chemistry with his costars.

  2. I’m watching it. So far, I’m liking it. It’s doing fine so far.
There are small flaws which bothered me when they happened but they did not ruin my will to keep on watching.
Of course, it’s too soon to say final claims.
The chemistry between JT and XK is very good.
It’s clearly a drama with very visible budget’s limits.

  3. I actually liked Zhuohua, I only dropped it because of the God awful filters and the ML’s voice. She was pretty good though and I enjoyed the plot, so I might go back.

  4. Kunning Palace is finally airing tonight. That’s one long wait for ZLH/BL fans.
I’m still on LBDAF, and this one has to wait, but looking forward to opinions on this.

  5. Wonderland of Love is a very entertaining war-romance drama. Xu Kai is perfect as Li Ni who is witty, handsome, adorable, and courageous. The chemistry with his leading lady is great and fun to watch. Their sword dance team up is well executed, cunning yet a delight to watch. A must-see drama for lovers of this genre.

  6. Seems promising, will be checking this out for Xu Kai.
Haven’t finish any of Xu Kai dramas (partly because older dramas has too many episodesto sustain my interest), except for The Royal Feast, which I really like for the subdued, slow romance, and beautiful shots.

  7. Jing Tian is a very solid actress, very consistent. But Xu Kai? He is mehhhh, very bland. He did not have chemistry with his leading ladies including Yang Mi, Bai Lu, and Cheng Xiao in all his dramas I checked out. Perhaps those actresses except for Bai Lu were lackluster too. Idk.

  8. Initially just wanted to check episode 1 but ended up marathoned all 6eps that were out yesterday.
I love that it has comedy and battle of wits, their one-on-one fighting scenes are beautifully choreographed. The FL is witty and resourceful and not some damsel in distress who needs constant saving. Its fun to see the ML and FL try to outsmart each other.
