Insiders Saying the Government Has Not Banned The Prisoner of Beauty so Tencent is Seriously Planning a Sudden Release without First Signing Up Brand Sponsors

So the best way to make money or at lease recoup is always going to be the way forward. C-ent insiders this week are once again saying the government has not banned The Prisoner of Beauty from airing, likely due to Song Zu Er‘s tax evasion case still under investigation and perhaps not going to result in a formal ban like what happened to Yuan Bing Yan, Deng Lun, and others. Tencent is reportedly seriously planning a sudden release, and will not first sell big sponsor space to brands and will simply sell commercial slices on the video broadcast. The reason for the rush to air is due to Liu Yu Ning’s hot buzz right now and also airing early in case Song Zu Er‘s case does end up badly and results in a ban as one never knows how these things turn out. If so then please drop now because I cannot wait for this drama. From the novels that I read, it’s like Love Like the Galaxy but way hotter and more sex, like I said this was a wild ride for me and not what I expected haha.

Insiders Saying the Government Has Not Banned The Prisoner of Beauty so Tencent is Seriously Planning a Sudden Release without First Signing Up Brand Sponsors — 23 Comments

  1. They just need to release this now instead of generating public interest with all this rumors. Do it fast before the govt gets wind of it.

  2. Agreed, they really just released it…no point waiting, who knows what will happen after investigations. But I really wish Song Zu Er will just be fined for the amount she owes. I really find i hard to believe she deliberately caused fraud… I feel there is much more to this story.

    • She is child actress, so she is managed by her family. Rumor says that it’s someone from her family that got greedy and did all this. Seems like family workshop has a lot of problems.

      • Honestly, having such family, if this is true…I feel very bad for her. She has committed so much in this industry.

  3. How is the story of the Prisoner of Beauty like Love like the Galaxy? Although both storylines have revenge tropes on hero’s side, I don’t see other resemblance. Specifically, the heroines have very different personalities and background. I actually don’t get what’s so exciting about The Prisoner of Beauty. The novel I read is a banal cliché recycling a lot of concepts repeatedly used in many Chinese web romance except for borderline porn. LOL. Besides, the success of Love like the Galaxy was hugely attributed to on-screen charisma of Zhao Lusi and Wu Lei. I’ve never watched Song Zuer before and can’t comment on her. But Liu Yuning? Just based upon his performance in one drama I watched, I’m not sure if he can deliver a vengeful image as Wu Lei. LYN’s acting was decent in A Journey to Love costarring with Liu Shi Shi. But it wasn’t mesmerizing enough to impress me as some other popular actors in their breakout hits, perhaps bcos of the characterization of Chief Ning is just not appealing enough to me.

    • I haven’t seen any of Song Zu Er’s dramas before, but I’ve seen some clips and trailers of her before. Sometimes her lips are pursed together like the winny the witch from Hovus Pocus and it bothers me LOL. Hopefully, she doesn’t do that in TPOB if it does get released.

      • lol xD Pursing her lips most of time while acting BUT this is a lot better than holding her mouth open with a small gap while acting… I like her looks but her mimic acting is not that good imo. I prefer watching her in costume series a lot better and easy to focus on pretty stuff when Im not impressed by acting of her…

    • Song Zu Er can be amazing in the right role, like her role as Qiao Simei in The Bond. I agree with you that LYN is quite mediocre as an actor, especially after seeing his performance in AJTL.

I will say that TPoB has one of the most amazing cinematography teams, so if anything, this show will be beautiful to watch.

  4. I still haven’t finished love like the galaxy but I’m excited for this. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

If LYN’s Wei Shao is as charismatic as NYZ, I’ll be happy.

  5. I plan to but only one episode once in a while. Maybe because I mtl the novel before the drama came out so in not anxious to know what’s going on next.

    • I haven’t read LLTG, and did read TPOB. Honestly, I stuck with LLTG because of Wu Lei’s mysterious character and the king/queen/noble consort’s graces. I found FL to be too headstrong and sometimes naive where I just want to go into the screen and shake her. For TPOB, it’s a bit different but with similar place setting. It revolves around the relationship of the two leads and their growth through forgiveness and perseverance. It also involves politics and family issues. For TPOB, the female lead is more likeable while the male lead is you either like him or you don’t LOL. Also, we get ML realising his mistake later on like he knows what he did wrong and it doesn’t get just brushed over because of because.

  6. Mrs Koala, thank you for recommending us the Prisoner of Beauty novel! I am sure you are quite busy yourself, but was wondering if you would be interested in translating it, as you had done in the past with LYF. I know there is an existing translation already, but couldn’t make a lot out of it quite a few times while trying reading it. In any case, wishing you Merry Christmas!

  7. If they couldn’t have released it, they would have. This just brings attention to a troubled drama.

This is the same tactics they are using with Immortality by occasionally dangling it in front of people to keep the hype going.
