C-actress Chen Du Ling as Top Billed Lead in Upcoming C-drama Noble Lady Finally Gets Male Lead in Actor Xin Yun Lai
When I heard the male lead names for the upcoming C-drama Noble Lady (Gui Nu 贵女) I was like “who’s that?” so don’t feel bad not knowing him. C-actor Xin Yun Lai, who looks like K-actor Woo Do Hwan IMO, will be the male lead opposite top billed Chen Du Ling for the drama which in recent months was best known within casting circles as the drama that cannot find a male lead. No actor worth their while wanted to be second billed to Chen Du Ling, who has been a supporting female lead for the last few years but somehow got a drama to give her both female lead and top billing. You go girl, I guess. The production had talks in this order with Chen Zhe Yuan, Cheng Lei, Wang Yi Lun, Fang Ni Lun, and Chang Hua Sen and finally I guess it’s lucky number 6 as Xin Yun Lai said yes. The drama will start production next month and is adapted from the C-novel 重生之贵女难求 Reborn Noble Lady.
Lol Chen Duling didn’t start out as supporting lead. She already took on female lead roles when she first started her acting career, just that she failed miserably as female lead that’s why she got downgraded to supporting roles in the recent few years.
@Lilith
I don’t know why, but I just don’t like watching her especially when she is playing a villain role. I just don’t dislike all actors/actresses who play the bad guys. 🤔🤔🤔
It probably sounds harsh, but IMO her facial features are just not cut out for female lead roles, which are often synonymous with kind, upright(?), cute or independent. In a way, villain roles are actually suitable for her.
@Lilith
Yes. I agree with you. Most importantly she doesn’t have the “likable” factor. Good luck to her.
I mistyped my “name” by the way – it should be XZF.
I find her rather bland for me. She lack the spark in a lead actress…but who knows this drama might change for her.
Yeah I feel that she’s a very limited actress and unable to lead a drama too, hopefully she’s improved a little.
@Lilith, I agree. Maybe she will get better…
I agree she just lacks a certain something that makes it hard to see her as a female lead. It might be just her facial features not standing out on screen or a lack of screen presence.
It’s strange, but in some promotional photos I do find her very pretty. However, when I see her in action, moving around, I don’t find her on screen presence very charismatic.
Promotional photos are often edited and taken in flattering angles. IMO her head and neck are too long (Yang Zi has the same issue with her neck but luckily her head length is still ok) and her side profile is her major weakness.
@Lilith, that’s true, but I feel like most of the time the photo editor takes those promotional pictures too far and they look abnormal. Whoever edited her photos deserve a raise!
She doesn’t impress me …. Her agency doing a good job to get her a lead roll and to insist upon top billing. Sorry this is an industry that you must have either super good looks + lots of likability factor + some talent
Sounds mean but I’m glad it isn’t Fang Yilun. He hasn’t gotten a proper male lead role in awhile and I hope it’s a more likable actress than her.
Not a fan of CDL because she lacks that onscreen presence. To me, she does better in support or evil roles. But, she’s still thriving even though she’s only O-kay at acting and there’s others who I feel were not as lucky as her.
I liked CDL quite a bit in TTEOTM, I thought she was beautiful in there. And her acting wasn’t SO bad.
But her subsequent roles didn’t really help her shine. She kept playing the same variety of the weepy supporting character. It gets tiring. I got tired of seeing that.
Maybe as FL here, she would present a different, improved side of herself to the audience.
Absolutely loathed her in the drama with Shawn. She always has this arrogance about her off and onscreen yet acts like a victim.
OMG finally someone mentioned her drama with Shawn Dou. She was so bland like water there. They did not have chemistry.
She and Shawn has the best chemistry. Never seen two actors looking into each other eyes like them. It’s love.
Not sure why she’s getting so many roles, even as supporting actress.
