While everyone is looking at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival red carpet for their favorite actress looks, two top C-actresses were instead in Rome for a brand event. Shu Qi and Crystal Liu attending a Bulgari event basically spent the entire time side-by-side, which is cute but also lends itself to comparison. And the comparisons did come, with C-netizens saying 48 year old Shu Qi totally PWNED over a decade younger Crystal who is 36 years old. Shu Qi was called timeless and fun and chic with her hair and dress while Crystal got thumbs down for her staid updo bun and flouncy gown that made her look older than her age. I think both look pretty but yes Shu Qi’s entire look was prettier between the two.

For LYF, I think it’s just a mismatch of her hairdo vs her dress. Both Shuqi and her were wearing ruffly off-shoulder gowns, but Shuqi looks better because she had her hair down. LYF’s hair bun will work better on tighter gowns.
Simply put, LYF’s hairdo is immaculate while her gown looks carefree, which gives off mismatch vibes.

LYF post similar photos almost on weekly basis, never a hair out of place, it is almost boring. The ones she post today for the same event looks much better.

SQ has always been that chilled out island girl. I may be generalizing but I find the TW actors more laid back and the Mainland actors uptight. Korean actors seem uptight too. I mean in public settings. I wonder if it’s because of their netizens who are ever ready to throw daggers.
TW actors are more laid back because they have far less to lose and also don’t live under an authoritarian government that cares about social credit and could financially ruin them at a whim.

I’m not 100% sold on Shu Qi’s dress because IMO it would have looked better as a fit and flare and not a quasi A line but still, 100% better than the other look.
You have to style to match your dress and in this situation, LYF has to put her hair up specially due the puff jacket.
I guess I just have really bad taste in fashion, because I’m obsessed with LYF’s “flouncy gown”! lol. If I was famous, I would totally dress like a princess all the time, especially in events like this 🤷🏻♀️

I love LYF’s dress! It’s so dramatic! She looks like Renaissance princess or something. The hair is alright but I think something looser in line with the romantic Renaissance feel of her dress and the Rome setting would have been better.
Shu Qi looks good and nice to see them attend and have fun together 🙂
