There is a solid group of K-models turned actors that Byun Woo Seok is joining but as the latest he’s got a chance to be the greatest in terms of his breakout leverage. To name a few, there is Kim Woo Bin, Nam Joo Hyuk, Kim Young Kwang, Lee Soo Hyuk, and more, and right now I can’t think of one with as big a vault from local rising actor to well known across Asia. To be fair, I don’t know if Byun Woo Seok and the Lovely Runner effect has reached beyond Asia but this week he was in Milan for the Prada fashion show and definitely brought the model appeal first and foremost.

That looks terrible. Who dressed him needs firing. He has great legs but the pants are of terrible length that make it so bad. Among the rest.
vogue used his image as the main one for their coverage of the event so they clearly think the stylist did something right. goes to show how subjective fashion is. he looks great imo but can see how the length of the pants could be not appealing to others.

No, what they think is that he is incredibly popular and it’s good for their kpi. That’s understandable and they do it all the time too. His face is still there too after all.

These magazines know who/what is popular and will put then front and centre so their covers/website etc so it draws fans in. It’s the whole reason they are inviting kcelebs in the first place
His fit is too small/tight and the outfit/belt isn’t nice. Nobody is wearing a jumper and a tie in summer

Nope. Outfit is beautiful and he wore it like a hanger. Its the photo angle that these pictures were taken thats why he looks stunted. If it was shot down-up he and his outfit would have looked amazing. Its classic prada for men. This is a safe ensemble.
I agree with you. The length of those pants, and where they end make his legs look short. Not even his 190cm height and cropped sweater make up for the weird proportions. I’m a Ryu Sunjae fan, but this ain’t it.

It seems k-drama fans really obsessed with popularity. What’s the point constantly comparing him with other actors?
I’d like to add that a sudden popularity is something that scares me . Only a few ones achieved to maintain popularity and work ( Lee Min Ho, Kim Soo Hyun,…) Hope that it will go well for him and that he will not be another Phoenix .

Such popularity isn’t even that good actually, since actors like KSH and LMH need to deal with sasaengs, intrusions in privacy, huge attention to their every step and every “scandal” etc.
And I think you don’t need to care about this for BWS at least in next 1-2 years. Maintain popularity more about agency, not about actor. Like Han So Hee, she has only one successful drama as main lead, but she’s very popular and hot name in industry (although “scandal” a little damaged it). BWS’s agency seems like a promising one.
Thanks Olesya1, but my point was more about the fact that a sudden popularity may affect the guy , he is the center of all and it only take a new hit drama with another actor or a few bad choices and one vanished from the media play . Hope for him that he has a strong mental !

I get it, this is why I wrote about Han So Hee. Some actors also don’t have many good dramas, but they still on the rise thanks to their agency work and star factor
LMH and KSH broke out in their early 20s.
BWS is 34 so he needs to make most of his popularity now and rake in all the CF money. Based on his interviews, it seems like he has a healthy sorted mindset and has really worked his way up. His digital footprint is really something..
I hope he figures a way to distinguish his personal image from Sunjae because Korea is obsessed with Sunjae’s character which is so pure and that can be scary – we all know how that went for Kim Seon-ho. It’s best to not get caught up in the idol type image.
Personally, I think Lee Do Hyun has it the best – work on great projects, date openly and live freely.
@both agree with yalls points but honestly we don’t know if his popularity will last. Ppl are obsessed with his character and projecting it onto the actor. It’ll depend on his next few projects but these days it’s hard to stay popular for long, ppl come and go all the time.
Not sure why han so hee is being compared to. She broke out in a very different way and when the world wasn’t like now. Her drama aired around the pandemic and because ppl were glued to their tvs/phones then, the celebs like her who made it, become successful pretty much overnight. Yes her agency helped, but she’s still a woman and almost 100% of fans are females. They will Stan an actress vs an actor for dif reasons. Besides her star seems to be on a slow decline, not cos of the incident earlier in the year but kent is starting to see alot of younger and very talented actresses come of age.
Biggest model actor would be lee jong suk his rise was much more big and he got famous all over asia and maybe in europe as well soo according to me its lee jong suk and btw why isn’t he coming back with a new drama or movie he is awfully quiet after military
