Suga of BTS Embroiled in Drunk Driving Scandal as ARMY Fans at Odds with Usual Public Castigation
There was a big incident and scandal this past week in K-pop and involves a member of the biggest and most popular group BTS. Member Suga was revealed to have been booked by police for a drunk driving incident where he was spotted on an electrical scooter and fell over impaired. The electrical scooter was an electric moped/small motorcycle and not the Lime/Bird type scooter the US is familiar with. Initially it was reported more like a joking manner that Suga was drunk and fell over in a small electric standing scooter until it came out that it was a riding moped and also that his blood alcohol was a astonishingly high 0.227%. In the US anything over 0.08% is considered impaired driving, and also in comparison Kim Sae Ron was castigated to kingdom come for her drunk driving incident and her BAC was also a high 0.20%. Suga has written a public apology and his license is already revoked in the investigation, but the diehard ARMY fans continue to make excuses for him while the K-public acknowledges the seriousness of this transgression but does not appear to be pushing for cancellation the way other celebs have been cancelled over drunk driving.
not an ARMY and agreed what this guy did was bad. he’s lucky he didn’t hurt anyone. honestly, damage from an electric scooter/moped is probably nowhere near as significant as a car. don’t think comparing him to Kim Saeron is completely fair when she banged into multiple lamp post, an electric transformer, and took out the electricity for 50+ cafes nearby. if she had laid low, i’m sure people would give her a second chance after some time. instead she tried to get public sympathy, posted a picture of herself pretending to work at a cafe then got outted by the cafe owner for not working there. girl dug her own grave.

An electric scooter is nowhere near comparable to a car DUI. Its bad regardless. BTS has pretty good image. I don’t think this will cost him his career. He is on hiatus for public service anyway. As long as he does pay the fines and/or serves his punishment for recklessness, he will probably be allowed to come back fine. At worst, I see him extending his comeback to performing back to end of 2025.
The two cases can’t really be compared, but that doesn’t mean that what he did wasn’t dangerous and shouldn’t be taken seriously. He could have potentially hurt other people, but luckily only hurt himself.
The double standard of the reactions is frankly disgusting.
Anyway lot of idols has been excused for dui so I know this will be the case. But his fandom is hilarious trying to make this like it’s nothing. Just let him lie low, it probably won’t dent his popularity
Ah this reminds me of 2021, an idol was reported with tagline drunk driving but it turns out he was chasing drunk driver and helping the police tail him for over an hour. That was a rare news coming from idol
He is always bragging on drinking. Guess this will teach him to be more careful hopefully. But some older celebrities have done far worse and still carrying their careers and yes they are mostly male.
Yeah most dui is actually done by male celebrities somehow, I think the comparison was 9:1?
It’s strange considering both male and female celebrities in korea equally enjoy alcohol
I read a news somedays ago, a grandpa got hit by an electric scooter and died. The damage is probably not as bigger as cars or others but still, it can kill someone or himself. He’s lucky that he only fell.
Im pretty much sure he’ll stay in BTS. BTS is too big for this ‘little’ scandal. Hope he learns to take taxi if he drinks. Or drink at home!
And his fans… i just cant. They even made a suga challenge, oh… God. Only God knows. Suga challenge with 0.2%, speechless.
He will be fine. His fandom would not abandon him even after he killed or raped someone.
KPOP’s idols have done these crimes and they still have support and love from their fans.
Thanks to this whole mess, I found out with loads of evidence to back up that this guy and the members of his group are terribly disgusting people. The fandoms adore them.
All I see on X are his fans, his group’s fans supporting and defending the guy.
All of them want and fight for members of any other group to be canceled and career destroyed in the same situation.
KPOP’s fandom wars are the nastiest stuff ever and the people inside these fandoms as Devil’s spawn directly from hell.
One mistake and hundreds of his good deeds/chartable/donation means nothing?
Could of but didn’t. Nothing beyond that and the law took care of his punishment. We can keep judging him and talk about his fans making excuse or to make lighter of his case or we can move on and know that people make mistake and that to completely keep talking so that this good human being is continuously being punished is a devil in the making of ourselves and the world we live in. The fact is, we too, want our families/friends/idols to be forgiven if they are in the same situation. Teach those that made the mistake but still be kind to them because someday, it could be you(us).
TO KSR as well, this girl knows nothing of a life of normalcy. Her mistake did not cause causality, but to what I believed to have been compensated already for damages. Yet, to the world that only she knows, now has completely kicked her out. She is now starting from stretch. Her unusual online actions are likely the state of her coping. She may longer have anyone to lean on or afford therapy. We don’t know. Let’s us not bullied people into suicidal.
Suga too have talked about his mental issues in the past. When they are gone, they are gone, and you all will continue to live your life and continue to target other celebrities and start another cycle of keep abusing those that have paid their dues. I will not be a part of this. I only hope that they dont repeat and that they surround their selves w/ good people.
I kind of get what your sentiment is.. It made me think how there has been countless ‘scandals’ in the past all over the world in the entertainment industry but the level of moral high ground East Asian societies have over their public figures is truly unsettling to the point of disheartening. Lee Sunkyun will not be the last to be pushed to the brink. I can only SMH and not be so unforgiving irl and in my personal relationships. =/
You are so right. The bullying is horrendous. He made a mistake which he is obviously very aware of and does not need to be ripped apart. No one here is qualified to give judgement of what needs to happen to him or not. That is why there are law enforcers. They will decide what is fair or not fair Also, it is not only celebrities or idols that get arrested for drunk driving. It happens everyday, every hour, every minute of the day and night to regular people as well. Research the data before you crush someone with gossip and evil wishes. He is a good person and it is his first offense which he will regret on his own without anyone help for the rest of his life. Let him be as I’m sure he has learned a huge lesson. Hopefully he looks for help and in the process helps others with the same issues with drinking problems.
Hypocrite.
Armys always do everything to destroy the career of any other idol outside BTS.
IF any other idol did the same as your precious idol, you would want to destroy his career.
Can you keep your stupid fanwars out of it please, this is not some kpop site or twitter.
He could have killed someone.
But waaah his mental health issues, waaah, he is the victim. Classic army.
I can only laugh.
You talk about wanting people to be kind and gentle to Suga Just because he is your idol.
But you would want to fight, bully, torment and all things to other idols in the same situation as him.
Any other idol would receive only hate from Armys under the same situation.
Vile behaviour. With that blood alcohol level he must have been hammered. What’s wrong with these wealthy celebrities that they prefer to endanger others rather than just get a driver or call a taxi?
Those electric scooters are bloody dangerous. They travel so fast and are so quiet that often you don’t even know they are coming> There are such inadequate restrictions about who can ride them so you have all kinds of idiots using them. They have caused so many serous injuries and even deaths.
If he was that drunk do you honestly think he could call a driver or taxi himself? In some places, the establishment that was serving him the alcohol is also responsible and should not had let him leave in that state because obviously he could not make good decisions with that much alcohol in his blood. Instead of condemning a person you loved so much before this incident, you should be hoping he gets help. He as well as all other idols and celebrities are always under so much pressure from crazy fans like many here. They are not Barbie dolls you can keep in your shelves. They are human beings making a living from a talent they have and they should never be pressured the way crazy delusional fans do. What they do for a living is a job and they should be able to go home and have families and relationships not pressured and criticized because they do. That is what causes things like this. Mind your own business and if you like their music, listen to it and if you don’t like it move on. Don’t pressure them to be single and never marry because you are delusional that they belong to you. If they have a loved one to go home to or a family they wouldn’t feel all this anxiety and pressure placed by crazy fans.
Stop shielding your drunk driving criminal idol and his bad decisions. Immoral stans like you who constantly make excuses for the vile, selfish behaviour of these kinds of people are the worst. He’s a grown man who made a choice to drive drunk. Millions of people worldwide get drunk and manage to make the decision NOT to drive drunk but your idol who has a thousand times more options or resources than most chooses to drive drunk and it’s not his fault according to you because being a millionaire idol is soooo hard. Hilarious how in your post you are blaming the bar, blaming the fans, blaming his job, blaming anything but the perpetrator himself. No doubt if he had injured or killed someone you would be finding ways to blame the victim too.
Nabi: you’re making excuses for bad behavior. He made that decision to drive drunk. No one is to be blamed except him.
You would sing a different tune if someone like him runs into your family members drunk. I’ve seen people devastated by drunk drivers. Don’t bend your moral and excuse bad behaviors just because he’s a celebrity
If he thought he was sober enough to operate a moving vehicle, then he’s sober enough to call a cab or designated driver. He made a mistake, he acknowledged it, and apologized for it. You don’t need to make excuses for him. He’ll be fine. This incident will be forgiven and he will still be in BTS. I think fans trying to place blame on others or making excuses for this behavior is just fueling the negative sentiment and perpetuating this topic.
Double standards much? I wish folks would stop downplaying his decision to operate a motorized vehicle while sodden drunk. I like Suga though I’m not a fan of BTS and have never listened to their music. I’ve seen him on talk shows and liked his personality. Still, giving him a pass while coming down hard on others who have committed similar offenses, reeks of hypocrisy in the extreme.
Two things: the guy needs to get some help for his drinking if he drinks to the point where he commits this type of offense. It just might be the first time getting caught, not necessarily the first time it has occurred.
And secondly, S. Korea needs to stop glamorizing and glorifying drinking as a whole. It’s a rare drama shown where people don’t sit down to drink heavily and show obnoxious drunken scenes. Thankfully, their society as a whole is getting better at recognizing the inherent dangers of alcohol in the more recent years, but more steps need to be taken. Ironically, it’s the same society that castigate folks smoking pot, but hail those who are sodden drunk. Smh.
The issue is they lied about the vehicule and the fact he took only a beer…
Yes the reason this has become an even bigger scandal because he and his agency initially lied and tried to downplay the vehicle he was using and how drunk he was. Until the police statement and CCTV contradicted them then they had to apologise and backtrack. Plus the fact that he is in military service right now so it’s not a good look.
This report sounds really bias Koala….Yes in every fandom you will have fans who defend their idols no matter what and that isn’t just singled out to Army’s alone…From what I have observed as an Army myself most of the fans hold Suga responsible for his actions as not only did he put others at risk by his dangerous, stupid actions…he could have also hurt himself…
He recognized his mistake and took responsibility for his actions and will accept the punishment or any disciplary actions handed down…It’s has already alleged he lost his scooter license and will be fined…however the police are still investigating as his first statement was taken while intoxicated. So info in his first statement wasn’t online with what happened clearly…(yes guys drunk people tends to tell lies about how much they actually did drink)
The issue that Army’s have now is the fact the S.K media, the police, Solo Stans in BTS fandom and the haters both locally and international are blowing this situation out of hand than what it actually is….Yes his actions was dangerous and stupid and he apologized and is reflecting now tell me what more do they want??🤔…No accident happened, no one was hurt , no property damage yet they are acting like he caused a great disaster that took multiple lives🙄…S.K has no room for forgiveness or empathy no wonder why so much of their celebs had die by offing themselves because it’s a country that normalize bullying and cancelation for incidents that are even very small.
Some are chanting for him to even leave to group…fof what?? To sate their ego?? BTS other members and the company has already said there is no discussion to even think of doing such actions so good luck with the antis and their wishes…That actress that’s mentioned that got a DUI also is still no way comparable with Suga’s case…
She actually was driving a car, and caused an accident that left 52 business without power, she refused breath analyzer test, tried to ran and even refused to pay the fine….she didn’t even do any prison time…yet they are calling for Suga to be arrested and jailed for an accident that never happened…🙄😒
So ofcourse Army’s are gonna get pissed and start to really defend him since the punishment they want outweighs the incident…Yes even while holding him accountable…International Armys made alot of jokes and memes as diving a scooter and losing his license isn’t a big deal in our eyes because of the cultural differences…like if one doesn’t know the details of this all…when viewed from the international lenses….they will really laugh their asses off…
To respect the fact that these things are taken more seriously in S.Korea because people has gotten hurt and even lost their lives being hit by Scooters befire…we under the criticism and disappointment towads him which I agree with also….but it has gotten out of hand where they want to turn him into a murderer inwhich he isn’t because…NO ONE GOT HURT!!
I do hope Suga reflect well and don’t repeat such incident…criticism is valid but hate isn’t and Army’s won’t stand for that…Suga struggled with depression in the past and Army’s won’t sit and allow S.Korea incels to kill him…like they did to so many before.
He will walk away without any consequences because the money on his side is too big.
What I personally find deeply disturbing is the behaviour of his fans. It can be seen here too.
He could have killed someone. He was terribly intoxicated. Yet the response was and is laughter, jokes, waving it away as if it is nothing. He can do no wrong in their eyes.
If he had killed someone? They would have excused him anyway. And that’s terrifying.
‘no one got hurt’ isn’t an excuse for drunk driving, it’s a matter of pure luck for anyone who got caught in a DUI without actually hitting someone. He happens to have the bad luck of this being something of a technicality (is the thing he drove a street vehicle?)
And the ‘someone’ who could have got hurt includes Suga himself, have you thought about that? The majority of fatalities from these kind of electric scooter drunk driving are the riders – from what I hear described, they don’t injure anyone else, but sustain serious head injuries from falling off scooters while drunk. That could have been him, and while I don’t believe in cancelling someone for life over a DUI, S. Korea taking drunk driving seriously isn’t a societal flaw but actually a good thing.
Hypocrite.
IF a member of any group did the same as your precious idol, YOU would want to cancel and destroy the idol.
You talk about idols committing suicide due to bullying Just because its your precious idol but you all enjoy bullying to death idols who you do not like.
Armys are very well known fir fighting, bullying and tormenting members and non-fans of other groups.
Armys is not the only fandom who do it. Its KPOP’s fandom culture. All do it but Armys is the biggest and most ferocious of them all due to size.
@Lin…Where the hell were you….when many Army’s where fighting for other idols from groups whom they also listen to?…Yall only see the toxicity because that’s where your focus is….All fandoms have toxic fans…Even I despise some like BTS solo fans, and the so called Boycotters using war in Gaza to wreak havoc in the kpop world when in reality most don’t give a damn about the war in itself or people dying….
So because some toxic Army’s exist, that should prevent the rest of the fandom for defending Suga and the rest of BTS from haters, antis, bullying and cancellation?? Get damn real…lol…And yall don’t see when BTS is being attacked endlessly from debut which made Army’s have to always be in defense and attack mode do yah?…..BTS is the most hated group because of all the jealousy that comes with being the biggest kpop boy band in the world and many would kiss the pits of hell to see BTS fall…and as long as the offense isn’t a heinous crime….Army’s will defend them from the hate like any other fandom. Not out fault other fans and company sit and watch their artist get canceled for minor offenses…
I myself as an Army and nothing pissed me off that seeing idols getting canceled and hated for even the samllest of things…and in Suga’s case….ofcouse the fandom hold him responsible, he hold himself responsible also…we all know what he did was, dumb and stupid…but in the end…what ifs, should have, could have, maybe…isn’t a fact…those were possibilities…which never happened…He had claim responsiblity and will face his punishment and is reflecting…now tell me what else do yall want to make you’ll feel better??
He isn’t getting kicked out as yall want because his offense isn’t that great to warrant such…the way this has blown out of proportion…people who don’t know will think he ran over someone…and I know yall doing want to face it…but yes…He didnt hurt anyone!!….and thats a fact!!
I don’t understand the comments. Police is still investigating. He’ll be punished as they deem fit. Yes, considering it is his first offense, it was an electric scooter, no property damage….it might be a fine and/ or community service. I doubt it’d be severe punishment. Let the police decide and then he’ll face it. @Lin
What you want isn’t accountability. You want public lynching. Probably because you are a fan of some other idol/group. If his fans are at fault for excusing his behavior, you are at fault for wanting to see him punished for your own selfish reasons. You aren’t really doing it out of goodwill for general public. Get off that high horse.
@Gem I agree, I’m critical of Suga’s actions myself (see my earlier comments) but some of the comments here seem to be less about ‘holding him accountable’ (which is just a buzzword here) and more about justifying some stupid kpop grudge which….. yeah, you’re right such people are just outrage addicts who want a public lynching.
So, I was watching the first episode of Serendipity’s embrace the other night and I got to the point where both the FL and the 2FL do the usual in Kdramas “cute drunk” routine. Only that it isn’t cute. It’s totally cringe and it shows that there is a problem in the Korean society if getting hammered is considered cute or funny. I have had it with lead characters advertising soju brands in dramas, making heavy drinking look cool or cute. I have yet to watch one drama where the leads don’t get wasted at least once with the show making them look cute with their rosy cheeks and romantic with the piggyback and stuff. While we all know that wasted people look like 💩, smell like 💩 and are not in a position to be neither cute nor romantic.
What I mean to say is that Koreans have a serious problem if they only (rightly imo) castigate the occasional celebrity transgressor but do nothing to prevent casual heavy drinking in society or its promotion through every effing drama.
And I dropped Serendipity’s embrace, by the way.
It’s not just dramas. Their YouTube pages of most Korean celebrities promote drinking and drinking games. Also they advertise alcoholic beverages or brag on their favorite drinks. It’s truly embedded in their culture. Like some celebrities try not to get drunk but somehow on their vlogs get somewhat drunk due to peer pressure. I’m sure some try not to but as far as I have seen it is what it is. Some truly love to get drunk. 🤷🏻♀️ The best would be promoting safety measures. I’m sure they do. But there will be some who make poor choices. Such is life.
I cannot thank you enough for this, being drunk and at the mercy of any body who is just up for evil or menace isn’t cute! They do it too much and it just doesn’t make sense at all.
P s, I’m still with serendipity’s embrace, it’s just my cup of tea I guess….shalom
I am glad you like it, Jennilee! I am not a big fun of romcom to begin with, so the odds were against Serendipity from the beginning! However I am looking forward to Love next door (I mean the romcom with Jung×2), hoping it will do the trick!
Romcom isn’t up my street either, school romance in particular. But amazingly I’m following Serendipity’s Embrace religiously. LMAO. The OTP are so adorable together.
I’m agree, this “cute drink” has nothing to do with wasted people in real life, and South Korea’s dramas do a lot to romanticize that.
It’s not only SK, whole world is like that, Hollywood as well. Cool businessman drinking a whiskey at their office after a work. Housewives drinking a wine at their home after a long day. Group of friends often coming at the bar to rest. Teenagers throwing a big party at their home with a lot of booze. Mafia boss drinking a vodka. Two people slept with each other and don’t remember about that at the next day. Etc etc.
Not to say how often to smoke a cigarette shown as something cool.
S.Korea showing drink habits in a different way, with a lot of craziness, but there and there it’s all an ad to normalize drinking and to make people to buy more alcohol.
I think adult people need to have a coommon sense and to differ shows from real life.
💯
It’s a strange case – apparently there was some confusion about what he was riding and whether it even was a ‘vehicle’ in the first place (a foldable electric thing) but apparently it has a seat so it was classified as a vehicle just last year?
His case isn’t really comparable to Kim Saeron’s considering she was drunk driving a car through Gangnam traffic and actually did have a crash that caused serious property damage…. and then topped it off with the strange cafe worker cosplay? That was the nail in the coffin, the DUI was one thing, her choices in the aftermath were another.
if Suga has any sense, he’ll lay low and not be photographed drinking for years after this. It might seem to be a DUI on a technicality about whether he was even ‘driving’ but it’s still a DUI and during his military service, no less. That’s absolutely terrible PR for BTS, but from the crisis PR perspective the others being in the military right now probably means they can legitimately hold off taking a decision about his participation in group activities etc.
Why do these Idols always end up ruining their great career and years of hard work with their stupid actions, no wonder their agencies put them on leash without their agencies that keep a close eye on them, most of these young idols probably wouldnt have lasted a year.
I like BTS… but Suga really did a stupid act… Highway code even punish horse riders, Lawn mowers, bicycle etc for driving whilst drunk. let alone electric scooter…he clearly did not know his knowledge as he said he did not know it was illegal.
Regardless what reasons he has…he will be penaltised by law. But we know SK law is flexible against different people. It is inconsistent and unfair… So it is interesting to see what will happen to him.
I agree it was a stupid thing , when you drink, don’t drive . It’s rather simple but even smart people still don’t get that ! Law is flexible in many countries ! I don’t care about what it will happen to him , if he will penaltised or not ! The thing is that many stars were canceled, ghosted by entertainment industry ,even pushing to suicide for less than that thanks to netizens(as some say that no one was killed, i will say that theses celebrities didn’t kill either !!!)late Lee Sun Kyung, Yoon Eun Hye was an A list actress, Sulli , Hara ( KARA), Lee Seung Gi lost a lot just because of the wife he choose ! Does all that make sense .
No one should be witch hunted…law judge them, not people. But it is human nature to judge, some much more then others.
So true @HL , even my comment is judgemental, as i said that it didn’t matter to me if he is penaltised or not but i’d like for others celebrities to not be judged more harshly than others, aside the criminals, rapists,..) But i’m a dreamer ! I used to listen a little of Kpop during the heyday of T ARA, Miss A, Shinee, Baby V.O.X, DBSK, SNSD ,…and a lot of OST but not anymore because i’m back to the western classics , don’t know even much about artists that GEN Z listen in Us or my country, but I do like some BTS songs and find their dance performances really great . Korean idols have some of the best dancers of the world . I ‘m pretty sure that if M Jackson was alive he would be an admirer of them .
This maybe sensitive to say but how do you know exactly that LSK is innocent. Like because he passed away, we know nothing.
If you remove his celebrities status and see it objectively. In police investigation, when the suspects passed away, humiliation and innocent is not the only reason but when they pass away, we all know what happen, the case is forcibly closed.
@cahill, I agree with your points here. I also think M Jackson would love them if he were still alive, as many Hollywood musicians love this boy band.
@Cleo, I don’t see anywhere in cahill’s comment that LSK was innocent, just that he didn’t kill anybody. What he was getting investigated for has nothing to do with murder. Yet he was cyberbullied, ridiculed, and judged to the extent that he committed su*cide. It shouldn’t be up to us to judge when we don’t know all the facts and circumstances. Yet online netizens always act like they have such a high moral code and know the celebrities better than themselves or the people around them. Let the law enforcement do their job. Most likely, these people will get convicted of whatever crime they committed if they did it.
@Cleo, as @Soph said, it is about not been witch hunted. It is the aggressive witch hunting behaviour of those netizen that can drive a person to insanity.
The law will deal with his action. Similar to SuGa, his action will be dealt with. Netizen dont need to witch hunt him. Send death wreaths to his company and cyber abuse him, etc. It is all very nasty actions. For Lee Sun Kyung, it was the same.
@cahill of the world seems like an extreme generalization considering that dancers outside the K-pop industry are better than them in terms of technique. Lmao. It’s fun to see when these dancers cover their choreography and basically overshadow the idols.
@HL, You hit the nail on the head! Witch hunt is what should be condemned. There’s law punish wrongdoings in the court. But people want to be that law. LOL.
Drinking and getting drunk is one of the obscene habits of Korean society, so why criticize? This is hypocrisy…!
So no alpha idols could avoid going degrading eventually? This sounds like Bigbang’s drug scandals years ago. So boring!
I used to be an avid Kpopper when younger. I have outgrown that passion and now feel nothing missed at all. It was such a waste of life following those idols.
I like BTS. It’s the most talented Kpop group by far, among boy and girl idols in the history. When they debuted in 2013 while I was an active fan of another senior group, I made a Youtube comment on their join MAMA stage with the other rookie group. I said “BTS deserves their own stage alone, not treated as less significant nugu in any event.” That comment had hundreds of thumbs up.
I don’t follow up Kpop anymore for a long while but I did watch their live performances occasionally. I still stand by my review of BTS as the best ever Kpop idols in ALL generations. Nonetheless, similar to almost all the Chinese idol fandoms, I dislike ARMY very much cos they have been notorious as the MOST aggressive entertainment fandoms, fighting with all fan groups from the East to the West, including 1-Direction’s huge fandom. LMAO. It seems they stay the same collectively years later.
Regardless of how talented Suga is, who has composing gifts and has been contributing a lot to the BTS music, his behavior of drunken driving (whichever vehicles including even a bike LOL) is reckless. Fortunately nobody got injured in this incident. But there are still no excuses for his mistake.
ARMY should stay quiet and lay low like SUGA. That’s the best way to protect their beloved idols.
I like BTS as I find them really great. I dont follow Kpop much… but BTS is fun to watch.
@Somebody…I mean if we want to take a roll call of the different members that you’ve insulted here by either labeling them as antis, CCP stooges, as having mental issues, as dumb, the list of names gonna be pretty long. And while you think that you can deflect by not name calling directly, you’ve had so many tirades against others when they disagree with you. Btw, love that you accused me of being for the CCP just cause am Vietnamese, very nice of you ignoring my ppl’s entire history of US migration being boat refugees. My family got on crowded tiny boats and faced an entire vast ocean to get away from our country’s version of the CCP but sure, I love them communists!
As I’ve said before, am fascinated by your style of commenting. Perhaps you don’t really have any ill intentions in your comments but your online writings often come off as quite combative and you answer things in a rather circuitous ways that don’t quite hit against the arguments the others are making . It’s quite interesting to me.
On a final note, the comment about sampling a mass murderer’s speech up there refers to Jim Jones so you not knowing Korean wouldn’t be an issue there 😉 and he included the actual vocal speech into the music composition so it’s not him using the speech in the lyrics
@R, LOL. You’re really obsessed with shoveling your own mouthful words into mine. I’m not senile at all to not remember to whom and what I said. I only called out CCP lackeys that I’ve never regretted doing so cos they do have severe mental issues. As to antis, never out of my mouth. Dumb? That’s how dumb it is for delirious ppl like you to call me idiotic and imbecile first. People should know I’m all for eye for eye. If you easily get butthurt thanks to my words like swords to your huge ego, just stay away from my comments that would agonize you for stupid reasons. LOL.
You’re fascinated with my commenting style? That’s why I said you must be really very active in your own mental gym. LOL. I have had a lot of constructive exchanges with many commenters on this site about dramas. As to some other active visitors like you that have exhibited consistent pattern of mental derangement making a lot of speculations and twists about either celebs’ private life or other commenters, I have never hesitated to return what you deserve. You were begging for the kinds of return! LOL.
I was talking about MUSIC and you ignoramuses digressed to ramble about lyrics. LOL. It’s fine even irrelevant. But people should expect how I’ll strike back if their comments are condescending. That’s why I laughed out loud cos obviously you guys have zero knowledge of music but pretend you do. Keyboard is truly a heaven for all kinds of bogus ramblers. LOL.
Lol best and most talented yet sample a mass murderer speech in his song, brag about self made song yet when confronted about the sample
“It was a another producer”
Like man, stop try to sugarcoat their talent like they aren’t the best just because they are popular, they are like mr beast of YouTube
Whatever…
@Melon, you sounded musically illiterate. LOL. Your resentment towards these boys can’t negate their accomplishment in pop music, specifically Suga’s contribution to the group’s hit songs. Every expert in the music industry recognizes their gifts. I have no idea of what lyrics and rap he wrote cos I’ve never been a fan of hip hop, not to mention he wrote mostly in Korean. But Suga composed beautiful songs. I’m talking about music scores he wrote. Do you even know what those are? Or can’t you even tell the basic treble clef from bass clef? It seems that’s the case. LOL.
The best for you please. Be precise about it. They are the best “for you”
Should I be extra verbose? My comment was posted under my username. Surely it’s my personal opinion, not from Bible. LOL.
I have had years of classical music training since 5 and am still an avid classical piano player. It’s my personal judgment that BTS music is nuanced and sophisticated with multi layers in composition, kinda similar to some actors’ nuanced and versatile acting that I always admire. BTS have a great production team behind them. That’s my personal taste per my decades of experience with classical music too.
I play Beethoven, Debussy, Mendelssohn, Shuman, and Chopin etc., and also improvised pop music on keyboard from time to time. Not a fan of BTS though cos not an avid fan of any pop music. But I have years of experience exposing to various pop music genres including classic rock, R&B, hip hop, and electronic thanks to my kids’ hobbies. I recognized BTS’ talent not because I’m an ARMY but based upon my understanding of music in practice and theories too. Even I’m not their fan, I still can’t deny their music talent and how versatile they are in music genres. I don’t think I’m biased when making such an assessment. You like it or not. I can’t lie to myself that they are the best so far among all Kpop groups in the history, beating their sunbae Bigbang. Their junior groups aren’t still on par with them yet. Rising groups like Stray Kids achieved their fame on the shoulders of BTS. That’s the reality. You like it or not.
@Somebody
You’re saying it’s your personal opinion, and at the same time wrote about your piano lessons and “years of experience”. Just to point out that you’re more knowledgeable than others and your opinion is the most right one.
If I’d wrote BTOB is the most talented group in k-pop history, among male and female. I have years of music experience, I’m not biased, I can’t lie to myself, and you can like it or not – it’s just means I think my opinion is superior than others. And whoever group you think as the best doesn’t mean anything because I wrote my portfolio as a proof that I’m the right one.
@Somebody They are the group with the best discography in K-pop, their range is varied. But on the level of talent of each member I don’t rank them high because the vocalists are average. Listening to them live was a disappointment, and the ones who saved the show were the rappers. In K-pop there are many strong vocalists. But it still makes me laugh that you insist that it is only your personal consideration while you start listing your knowledge of classical music to indirectly suggest that you know more and therefore you are right. Hahaha!
@Olesya1, Me being superior or not, it’s all in your mental gymnastics, not out of my mouth!!! Don’t shovel the whole bag of wild imagination into my mouth. I don’t take Kdrama fans seriously who have a fetish to gaslight others, here you included. Your gaslighting has no bearing to the reality about my music training that helps me appreciate good music and true talent including BTS although I’m a fan of Arthur Rubinstein not BTS. LOL.
It’s my personal opinion that BTS has been the best Kpop group so far, among girls and boys. As to BTOB, they could only sing without impressive stage performances IMO. But that’s my preference. You don’t need to work up just cos I think BTS is better than BTOB, as many other industry experts (including Billboard critics and Grammy judges) think likewise. Go watch more BTOB rather than exchange with me to no avail. THIS wouldn’t change the industry status and influence of BTS vs. BTOB. LOL.
Reality hurts. But I can’t lie.
@LUH, so, ppl made a fuss about my comments all bcos of my classical music training since childhood??!!! LOL. I appreciate the sophisticated layers of BTS music thanks to my understanding of classical music in the way there’s similarity in in terms of nuance and subtly in both BTS music and classical music. Many industry experts also have similar critiques of BTS music, e.g., Billboard editorial board and many other music critics. How’s that an issue to you guys then? Besides, I emphasized that’s my personal opinion. But you still bear grudge to bitch about my honest music training. LMAO. It appears the problem isn’t my personal review about BTS nor my own music experience but it’s more about your insecurity regarding your own preference. LOL
What do you expect me to say then to satisfy you? LOL
*Munches popcorn* This is entertaining.
@Somebody
I’m not BTOB fan, I wrote them as example. And no, reality isn’t hurt, because it’s your opinion, not the fact, although you trying hard to prove opposite.
BTS is the most popular k-pop group, and it’s the fact. But definitely not the best or the most talented. It’s crazy you wrote they beating Bigbang by talents, when all of their hit songs Bigbang wrote themselves. What about singing, many others group beating them in that. What about dancing, BTS performances always good, so they can be the best in that. And I’m not a hater by assuming that.
Where am I gaslighting you? You wrote about your piano lessons and classic music just to say that you know better than others. Otherwise there’s no need to mention that.
And as if it wasn’t proving your opinion enough, you started to talk about Billboard and Grammy critics. I can bet these critics don’t even know about most of k-pop groups, and I’m sure they praised any artists with popularity and strong fanbase. Just say me name any of these critics, I’m sure I’ll find in seconds how they praising the most popular ones.
LOL @Olesya1, you did gaslight me. I did not consider myself superior to others when exposing my own classical music training. As I said, my music experience helps me appreciate more sophisticated forms of pop music including BTS music. And I’m NOT the ONLY one having this review of their music. Other industry critiques like those working for Billboard editorial board and Grammy etc have similar appreciation and remarks as I do. How is this a sign of showing my superiority? I just can’t lie to myself or anyone else even my bias used to be another group. Besides, music is subjective. I like many Bigbang songs back in the days while I was still an avid Kpopper but not their performance stages that were dwarfed by BTS live performances on several big stages in the US later. Even I said I considered BTS the most talented Kpop group beating Bigbang (and I’m not gonna change that view), it’s still my personal opinion and I already reiterated. What else do you guys still want to bitch about? LOL.
Now, I’m pretty sure your problems all have nothing to do with my compliments of BTS but my music training makes you feel uneasy and humiliated? LMAO.
It’s amazing many Asian drama fans are oversensitive with huge ego to have such grandiose mental gyms but still denying it. LOL. It’s not healthy at all.
@Lilith, I did not expect a most staunch CCP stooge would pop up here. THIS, must inflate your bean size ego bigger. LOL.
@Somebody Tsk tsk tsk, shouldn’t you be at an age way past to be throwing insults out of nowhere? Seems like other people echo my words about you, that you are conceited and think of yourself as superior to others.
Hey @Lilith CCP stooge! Nothing new from you right? Same old same old you always jumped on any ride of mob mentality to obviously vent your resentment towards me cos I called you out for being a lapdog for CCP. LOL.
Mind your own business if knowing nothing about Kpop! Have fun trolling though! LOL.
BTW, @Lilith, I noted you’ve been parroting the same boring remark under my post. Stop that obsession with me as how CCP can’t get over with Taiwan forever. LMAO.
Your obsession with CCP is so touching 🤞
LOL. I’ve never seen others so toxic and obnoxious like @Lilith, the pettiest C-ent gossip queen and a CCP cockroach. There’s no way to swat this nuisance away without going really nasty. Lilith lurked to stalk me, always riding on the mob. So pathetic! LOL. Lilith is senile and talked as if she were not one of those who have been always fighting with others about trifling C-ent gossips on this site. Lilith had plenty of her own history fighting with groups of ppl who collectively dismissed her but she talked here totally like a hypocrite forgetting she’s got her own history. LMAO.
I had no interest in any exchange with this CCP cockroach. But this pest ALWAYS voluntarily joined pile-on over me. Lilith’s obsession with me is so amusing and laughable. Nonetheless, I’m losing patience with such a fly. Forgot your med today and want a squabble? Here you go as you wish, lunatic! LOL
+++ with @Sirey. It’s okay if for you they’re the best of the best, but it doesn’t mean they’re the best or the most talented for everyone.
@Olesya1 & @Sirey…that’s how that commenter always roll. Always declare their personal opinion as universal because it’s supposedly back up by industry’s experts (ignoring how these experts could be quite biased themselves due to who’s paying them) and when there’s push back, label the other commenters as haters / as jealous fans of less successful groups/ celebs/ whatever.
@R, I’ve noted that you always made a stretch to twist my comments. I said it’s my personal opinion although I did have years of training in classical music and knows some theories behind composition.
I don’t recall I’ve ever named call others haters/blah blah blah blah as you suggested at the end. Again, all those words are in your mental gym that you are really fond of. LOL.
I’m an ARMY, in the sense that I’ve been an avid fan of the boys for years, and I’m not making any excuses for Yoongi’s actions, nor are the ARMYS in the k-side, nor many others in X, so to see people in the media, blogs, etc. generalizing us for a loud, immature few is upsetting ngl.
Lots of us know that what he did is wrong, especially when more details were given after his and his company’s initial statement, and we understood the gravity of the situation. However comparing his case to Kim Sae-Ron’s (who was driving a car, damaged property, tried to evade responsibility, etc.), and wanting him to pay for it in jail and for him to leave the group per some antis loud request, it’s not it. Add to that the maliciousness of the haters, who have fake started a trend posting pics pretending to drink and drive, and the media reporting it as if it were his fans showing support for his actions. That jus not it. That’s misinformation, and ofc we are gonna ask for it to be corrected. For anything else, there’s a sane bunch staying quiet, waiting for the result of the investigation and whatever penalty he will have to pay.
Personally, I wish for him to pay his dues according to the law, reflect on his actions and the repercussions for him, for others and for the group (pretty sure he’s doing so already), and that he (nor any of the boys) never repeats it again.
I just read one of the best run BTS fan club have closed down… do you join that fan club?
It’s sad that the stupidity of one member may cause the fall or the disband of a group which was South korea’s pride . He should pay for what he did , ask for forgiveness from his bandmates and fans . And musn’t repeat the same mistake ! Having a second chance as nobody is perfect .
@cahill: digressing…Cahill, watch this video and see what it reminds you off? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAyXBnPJ230
No exactly the same thing but I just chance by this breakfast pastry/bread.
Thanks for sharing @HL, It made me think of old good memories . While watching the bread ( déjeunette as we call in France = mini baguette ) in which they put the eggs , looks so delicious and the kind of ” pate à beignets ” they fried , reminds me of Les feuilles d’or and , there was also a kind of tourtes ! All looked delicious , and the artisans are impressive (years of experience !) You’re a bad girl, you make me want to taste all ! Because of you i may have to change my wardrobe 😭
@cahill, so glad you read my message…I too got hungry….so many hours till breakfast. but my favourite baker went back to France for holiday… will wait till they re-open in Sep.
Not an ARMY, not even an avid Kpopper any longer. But I have recognized BTS’ influence on pop music globally. If there were based in the West, I’m sure an incident like this wouldn’t cause any fall out to the group. I’m sure Suga would have no trouble standing on his feet again. He didn’t rape or kill anyone. He’s not even on drug.
Sad Asian culture lacks mercy and forgiveness! But I wish the best for Suga and his teammates.
@SOMEBODY Hahahaha. Yes, teach your child to drive drunk in the future. Or your child shoudn’t be cautious on the streets because even if there are people who drive drunk and could hurt you, mom like to defends the irresponsible ones with passion.
Your common sense is not working and it shows. Lmao.
@…on, apparently you’re too delirious to get things straight. When did I ever say Suga was at no fault? READ PLAIN ENGLISH! LOL.
@summer….army has such a terrible reputation amongst the kpop fandoms that I don’t really think it’s just a few immature fans that cause your fandom to have that kind of notoriety. I know this is mostly due to you guys having such a huge fandom so the amount of bad apples in there gonna be higher than others and so their ill behaviors will be amplified. But I really don’t think army can always blame haters posing as army for whatever hateful online activities are committed in the supposed defense of BTS. Am a casual kpop fans so I don’t follow any kpop related accounts on twitter but sometimes random kpop drama would cross into my stream and 95% of the time, army is involved 😅
As for this particular scandal, the fact that suga and the company’s initial statement downplayed the severity of the issue is what really makes a lot of ppl annoyed. I know that it’s an active investigation but the fact that it is one is already giving off an air of favoritism because the situation is pretty cut and dry. He was drunk to the point of falling off his vehicle which triggered the notice of a policeman. He was administered the breathalyzer and failed it so I don’t even know why there needs to be any further investigation when a police report should have already existed.
I do think there’s no need for him to be kicked out from the group, it’s a big mistake but thank goodness, it isn’t one that cause lasting harm. So him being penalized under the law and maybe do some public service announcement of do not drink and drive is more than sufficient to me.
Wow just wow. Have you guys watched the most updated news and what really happened? Everyone and miss koala, do take full of your responsibility regarding your comments and posting here.It is true they said, someone’s words able to take someone’s life
You come here to read 100% true news?? Just Wow. 🤣🤣
So you come here to spread unnecessary hate? Is this what koalas playground all about? Then this blog is nothing better than tabloids out there. I know this is hers and she can write what she wants. But do own up on what you put out there. If there’s nothing better to comment, don’t comment at all. Own up and grow up.
I see…
@Missnotsoknowitall, what is posted here and the comments are just what koala’s share with us, it’s not always accurate as agencies, reporters, medias are writting new articles every minute . So we or i just share what we think of the matter with our own emotions, vision of life,… We may be wrong or right , that’s all …it’s just a blog , not a G7 summit (even if i doubt of their legitimacy!) So don’t be too shaken ! I’m a reader of this blog since years and sometimes was also furious about some comments but we are here to share, to read diferent opinions,…it’s only like that , that i learn more about me, about others ,…tolerance is not about accepting but about to try ! I don’t know if you’ll understand my meaning because of my bad english !
You can’t really blame koala when the fake video was posted and reported on by even legit Korean channels like JTBC, SBS, etc. It wasn’t like she took the information off some trashy tabloid website. It’s Korean media’s fault for always sensationalizing incidents and spreading misinformation. Although I do hope people learn a lesson before jumping to conclusions and going off the rails on what a terrible person this guy is when he didn’t actually lie about the “vehicle” he was using, and dramatizing all the damage he could’ve caused with that little seated electric kick board thing.
To the haters here condemning Suga, you all can shut the f*ck up now. A recent update about the case shows that HYBE didn’t lie about their statement and the previous CCTV footage released by JTBC was literally a FALSE REPORT.
https://www.reddit.com/r/kpop/s/9fH7FwYBox
The REAL CCTV footage released by DongA Ilbo just now confirms that what HYBE and Suga said was true. JTBC has since deleted their video now and they’re rightfully facing backlash for their FALSE report. Hope HYBE sues their asses lmao.
Lesson: Stop riding in your high horses and immediately bringing out your pitchforks to condemn someone without enough proper evidence to back you all’s accusations up. Always wait for more information before jumping to conclusions because of your prejudice against someone
But it doesn’t change that he was driving drunk. And that such irresponsibility and foolishness could have led to seriousness. Fortunately it did not. Stop acting like your life depends on how much you defend an irresponsible person. It must be hard to be delusional and not put up with fair criticism.
Even truth becomes lies
Even lie becomes truth
In this place, everyone becomes someone with perfect moral thinking and judgment
How funny
Anger? Sure, it’s necessary
When something burns, it’s with purpose
Perhaps that’s our history
Sometimes that changes the world
But, this is human waste, not anger
Look at those people who became desensitized
Human waste and indifference, you’re a team.
Their lyrics shows your guys mindset though. Bunneo
@Missnotsoknowitall LOL! You guys hustle like it’s the only thing that gives you life. You are even looking for songs when I only pointed out that drunk driving is irresponsible. You only question morality and rationality when it is convenient for your faves. You would not act the same way if it were a person outside of your fanaticism and delusion. LOL! I needed a good laugh.
Yeah. Have a good laugh when it happens to your loved ones. I’m a Muslim first before an ARMY. Never i condone the behavior of drinking. But my religion also teach me to think before speak. In this case, think before give comments. Your words can become sword to someone’s heart.
“what’s wrong with a little teeny tiny comment. He is famous anyway and deserved this bit from us who have nothing better to do other than join the train to bash him because what, that’s what media told us” yeah. Keep on guys. Why not? Look at yourself then look at him. No. Look at the mirror.
Hahahahaha! My loved ones have nothing to do here, stop looking for ways to fall for personal attacks or fallacies. We are not irresponsible, but we have been victims of drivers without basic human decency.
I have never driven drunk, I don’t drink any alcoholic beverage if I am going to drive, let alone if I have no one to ensure my safety. LOL. Your lecture is unnecessary, I’ve already seen myself in the mirror.
The funniest thing is that I didn’t attack/bash him. I comment again that driving while drunk is irresponsible and dangerous.
Blind fanaticism is not healthy. Your attempts at persuasions are entertaining. You can’t get out of delululand and you want me to join. LOL.
If you want Suga to be treated like a child, you should look for a forum where people act like a cult.
I’m still laughing!
@Missnotsoknowitall: How do you separate right from wrong? In your religion they only teach you to minimize things? Or it’s just you being a fool for your Asian man? You don’t want to acknowledge that he had a irresponsible behavior. I hope the pay is high for how hard you’re trying to get us to praise him. Songs, cheap psychology, whataboutism. Since you want to question whether we are like him or not, I had a similar experience with a friend – she also drove drunk and endangered her own life. After the scare passed, I got angry.
Fanatics sure have tricks when it comes to defending idols.
Common sense is if you have to drive , don’t drink ! Being drunk is endangering your own life and the others one . But also changing the life of families forever . Being drunk is like being under drugs . But alcohol is legal not drugs !
Your article is full of untruths. He was not riding a scooter/vespa or motorcycle. It was an electric kick board with a folding seat. He had some drinks with dinner and travelled 500 meters from his studio to his apartment. His official blood alcohol level has not been posted, it was over the limit of .03 but certainly not 0.228. The original video and over 1400 articles are just lies. He rode on a joint use sidewalk, he did not exceed speed limit, wore a helmet. He turned sharply and fell over, immediately jumped up picked up his helmet then his electric kick board. Three riot police were walking by and stopped to see if he needed help and smelled alcohol on his breath. His first statement was true. He is only facing a monetary fine and a temporary revocation of his license.
