Jang Ki Yong and Cha Seung Won Lead Cast of Mystery K-drama Pigpen Adapted from Webtoon
Mysterious things seem to happen in K-dramas when it comes to small remote islands. A new K-drama has been cast and will start filming shortly for release in early 2025. The drama is titled Pigpen and is adapted from a webtoon of the same name by the same manhwa artist behind Sweet Home. Jang Ki Yong plays a man who wakes up in that weird island having lost his memory and needs to deal with a strange family led by Cha Seung Won who runs the only bed and breakfast on the island. Roj Jeong Eui is his equally mysterious daughter and there are a whole of creepy and weird things happening on the island. Directing is the PD behind thriller movie Midnight FM.
I enjoy Cha Seung Won’s acting..but I dont watch every drama… Looking forward to this.

Cha Seungwon is booked and filming back to back. He’s also in Park Chanwook’s new film that started filming last week.
I love fantasy but not so much graphical thriller. I was grossed out by Sweet Home that’s freaking disgusting. LOL. I found some K thrillers oftentimes just a huge combo of sensational horror and CGI with empty messages in the context. Sweet Home is one example. Gyeongseong Creature is another one.
If K writers are aspired to deliver interesting stories of fantasy and thriller, at least they should look up to classic the Lord of the Rings trilogy and learn something. Something like Gollum would not be only visually striking but his story is also very inspiring and unforgettable. My Precious….!!!!! LOL.
This webtoon on my list. I read other author’s webtoon “Bastard”, and can say he’s very good to write a thriller with interesting plotwist. So I’m sure the plot is good, other left to the screenwriter and director.
Director Kim Sang Man also filmed movie Uprising for Netflix with Cha Seung Won as one of the main leads airing in October, so I will watch it to see director’s skills.
I like Cha Seung Won, Park Hee Soon and Kim Dae Myung in one cast: I watched The greatest love and One ordinary day with Cha Seung Won, he’s very good actor. Park Hee Soon was charismatic and remarkable in My name. Kim Dae Myung was good in my Hospital playlist, nothing complain about, but I need to see Pigpen to see his versatile acting skills.
The only drama I watched with Jang Ki Yong was short sitcom The Boy Next Door, so can’t say anything about his acting.
What about Roh Jeong Eui, eh, her acting was pretty weak in Hierarchy, so right now she looks like a weak spot in that drama to me. Hope I’m wrong.
If you get a chance, check out Our Beloved Summer. That was the Drama I first saw Roh Jeong Eui in and her performance in that was the whole reason I decided to check out Hierarchy. That whole Drama was weak imo and no one shone because they weren’t given anything to work with. So for me, her score atm is 1 het and 1 miss, and it’s an encouraging sign that she’s trying something completely different to either one with this one.
I read comments praising her acting skills before and somepart because of that I was surprised watching her in Hierarchy. Well, yes, I’m agree, it’s very weak drama. I thought Kim Jae Won is a decent actor too, but after Hierarchy I began to doubt it. Although not cast was like that, I liked Lee Won Jung and Ji Hye Won and now rooting for their acting careers.
Our Beloved Summer in my watchlist. If you’re saying Roh Jeong Eui was good there, I won’t rush to conclusions about her acting and watch the drama first. Thanks for the recommendation!
Check out Jang Ki Yong in Come and Hug Me.
Fair warning, it’s a difficult watch at times because the main psychopath villain is played by the amazing Heo Yun Hoo and some of the scenes are truly disturbing. But soooo worth the watch.
@Sigh
This drama in my watchlist too. There are a lot of dramas 😄
But someday I definitely will watch it. Thanks for recommendation!
Love Cha Seung won and Park Hee Son. Kim Dae Myung is always great.
JKY I could do without. I don’t like his acting.
Me too, Jang Ki Yong is not for me.
The cast looks good and the whole thing sounds pretty good to me.
JKY is a good actor. People have formed opinions of him as an actor based on a couple of performances of too many years ago and got stuck rotting in The basement with them along all these years.
JKY is just good enough for me, he does it naturally, I don’t usually see him struggling in acting . “Come and hug me” is a good watch, after which I got searching for his other dramas to watch
