Concept Posters Released for Princess Agent’s Sequel Rebirth with Li Yun Rui and Huang Yang Tian Tian

Lol, I love it when I have to ear my own words. And in this case it’s happily though of course solely in this context. The teaser concept posters are out for C-drama Rebirth (also called Frozen Awakening) starring Li Yun Rui and Huang Yang Tian Tian in the direct sequel to Princess Agents. Literally, this drama picks up from that very frozen lake where the male lead seemingly drowns. It stars Li Yun Rui and Huang Yang Tian Tian in the same roles made famous by Lin Geng Xin and Zhao Li Ying, but in this sequel it appears to be male lead centric and Li Yun Rui has top billing. He looks soooooo good in the poster above, the emotions conveyed is mmmmm level and she’s basically baby Zhao Li Ying now grown up so I will be curious how this sequel nearly a decade out from the OG drama continues the story.

  • How can we expect any romance between the leads when the FL is only 17!? I am all for a sequel because I like the first one, but I still cannot stomach the age gap.

      • there there was a lot of sexual tension but only one kiss I believe in the first season but things got really heated at the end so it should be interesting to see if they will be so intimate considering. But yah my guess is more sexual tension and not sure there will be a kiss or implied stuff. Probably chock full of butt kicking and assassin stuff mixed with political intrigue. Can’t recall any cdramas with under age actors kissing or such so I highly doubt it?

      • If you don’t know, LGX and ZLY had so much chemistry, they hardly needed romance to make it such a huge hit. Just a stare or hand brush sent the fandom insane!! 😆 Based on the novel, it gets saucier after the lake scene between the leads so…

      • ZLY's marketing is amazing, no chemistry at all but the fans can make everything happen. Funny to see when ZLY markets she doesn't rely on fan. If so, please disband the fan marketing team known as fireflies.

    • FYI, the age of consent in most countries across the globe is either 15 or 16. The only countries having 18 as age of consent are India,Turkey and some Muslim countries where extramarital sex is banned altogether, a few countries in Africa and some mostly southern states in the US. I do not care for super young female leads either, especially when the male lead is quite older, but let's not make a mountain out of a molehill for an actress that is at an age to have a romantic life almost everywhere in the world.

      • That is for personal life issues but normally for acting or tv in China they won’t promote intimacy with a teenage age actress. That is why for Hidden love drama they were lax with the story cause both actors were age appropriate. Also in Flourish of time the main actress was 17 in real life and they did not have them kiss once for that reason. The same with male actors if under age or in teens. Unless that changes which I doubt cause china is fairly strict with propriety especially for tv

  • I think people here are worrying about the wrong things.
If both of them are good actors and have a decent enough relationship in front of the cameras, the chemistry and the feelings between the characters they will play will be fine.
Lack of kissing scenes and "intimate" contact are not problems. Chinese dramas can do well without these if the script does it right.
Age is not a problem too. They're both actors playing fictional characters. They're both
C'mon. Everything relies on good acting and good screenwriting/scriptwririting. If you lack these both then everything is ruined.

    • I don't get the obsession with romance and kissing scenes nowadays. I rather have a good story and acting.

      • If the novel has kissing and much more granted the drama may not depict it accurately due to restrictions but deleting all intimacy completely just seems too much like even a simple kiss. What is there to be shy about. If it were based on something that has barely to no intimacy then it makes sense. In this case the main girl is underaged so the odds are there might not even be a kiss maybe even on the cheek lol. To say not everything needs romance to me only applies if the story is made to be so and interesting enough to not have any. most often it attracts more viewers and that is why a majority of Asian dramas inject romance but for me if you promise a coupling people expect some form of intimacy.

      • @Rero - not everyone watches these dramas with the background of having read the novel. these are also adaptations and are often not following the novel exactly anyway. I’m not against there being romantic scenes but often viewers scream and complain there’s not enough or the kissing is bad, like how Deng Enxi got criticized for in Melody of a Golden Age. I just don’t see what the big deal is. Great if a drama can do both, but what I think is more important is a well drama and good acting more so than watching people suck each others faces well.

  • It is interesting that in the concept posters, Yuwen Yue 宇文玥 has reverted back to his original name in the novel Zhuge Yue 诸葛玥。 Likewise princess Yuan Chun 元淳 is now known by her original name Zhao Chun'er 赵淳儿. Meanwhile Chu Qiao and Yan Xun's names remain unchanged. Wonder why that's the case? If this is indeed a direct sequel, it feels a little jarring to change the name of some of the main characters. Wish they had retained the original cast. As it is, fingers crossed the sequel will live up to the hype and expectations and the younger cast will deliver.

    • Good point. As far as I know Yuwen was a powerful family in history of Wei dynasty and they actually overthrown western Wei and established Zhou dynasty. On the other hand the emperor compared Yan shicang to Gao Yang as a rebel who overthrown eastern Wei which happend around 552 while ordering Yuwen Yue to investigate Yan family. So doing simple mathematics Yuwen Yue has fallen into ice lake around 557 which is coincident with western Wei losing power. I kept wondering how they are going to continue the story after that. It seems that they decided to stick to imaginary Xia dynasty of original novel to circumvent the realities of history.

  • What concept? The posters tell nothing. LOL. Nice to see two fresh and young faces as the main leads. I don't want to see romance between an auntie and an uncle. LOL. LYR is interesting as a ML in a modern romance I tried to watch but did not finish as expected. I'm intrigued to see him in another ML role. Please keep us posted. Thanks.

    • Well as liddi mentioned above they have changed the names of Yuwen Yue and Yuan Chun to those of the original novel. This can be deduced by the poster. So I geuss the sequel wouldn't take place in western Wei but the imaginery era of Xia (according to the novel). Regarding new faces, I wish they left "princess agents" alone and used those faces in a new story. They should have either produced the 2nd season many years ago with original cast or simply wrapped up the drama in one season. It seems the producer is planning to use the fame of the 1st season to promote new faces without even trying to work on a cohesive script with regard to the previous season. Apart from the cast, I was curious about how they are going to continue the story with Yuwen family taking the power from Yuan family (as the western Wei succeeded by Zhou). But it seems the story won't follow the history.
