Call it timing or just twice is not the charm, currently airing period C-drama Tigers Sniff the Rose with Meng Zi Yi and Li Yun Rui is probably getting more coverage for how it’s not doing well than anything else. The story of a bossy princess and a beta-male scholar doesn’t appeal to me and on top of that I’m … Continue reading →
Looks like October will end with a splash in C-drama land with Tencent announcing that it will premiere big budget period drama Tigers Sniff the Rose (尚公主 Shang Gong Ju) this Friday October 23rd. Starring Meng Zi Yi and Li Yun Rui, the drama has gotten more attention that usual by being the reunion of the two leads after their … Continue reading →
Okay, this upcoming C-drama I am really really looking forward to even if neither leads are my faves. I think Youku period C-drama Sea of No Return (归良辰 Gui Liang Chen) did well casting Li Yun Rui and Liu Xie Ning, a fresh pairing and they look great separately and together in visuals for their roles. The posters have drama … Continue reading →
So the how low can you go spanking with C-drama Rebirth is apparently not done yet. It’s now dropped to 2.9 on Douban ratings and judging by how angry this drama made viewers and how much C-netizens want to mete out punishment it could get lower even lol. In the modern era only nine dramas now have fallen below 3.0 … Continue reading →
Sometimes the hammer of judgment does have to come down to remind production companies not to embark on a project with a slew of bad decisions. Princess Agents was a hit in 2017 and has long been discussed to make a sequel since the ending was sorta unfulfilled, but leads Zhao Li Ying and Lin Geng Xin both went on … Continue reading →
No. Just no. I need these two to individually and together take a time out. You know when a teacher tells an overeager student to sit in the corner and just read quietly, it’s feeling like that talk needs to go out to Meng Zi Yi and Li Yun Rui. This week the C-ent casting rumor is saying, and with … Continue reading →
So this is a female lead name I haven’t heard in awhile. C-actress Yang Chao Yue may be making her female lead comeback soon as she’s in talks for the period wuxia C-drama Jian Ge Wen Ling with basically confirmed male lead Li Yun Rui. It’s a big male lead IP based on the same name novel so with Li … Continue reading →
The Princess Agent sequel drama Rebirth has now gone through what I call every stage of feels, from thinking it’s a bad idea all the way now to quite liking the preview and looking forward to it. At least it’s the right direction trajectory rather than the opposite, and the timing looks good as the rumor is that it will … Continue reading →
The leveling up of the female lead actress pick is pretty clear the drama is aiming for a top lead. The wuxia period C-drama Jian Ge Wu Ling 剑阁闻铃 has already signed male lead Li Yun Rui who is top billed, and in the last two weeks there has been a slew of actress names in talks for the female … Continue reading →
So it’s off to the races for Youku big budget period C-drama Sea of No Return (Chinese title Gui Liang Chen 归良辰). Starring Li Yun Rui and Liu Xie Ning (Sally), filming started this week and the first promo posters are out as well. I quite like it, especially Li Yun Rui’s intense and assertive visuals and pose. I feel … Continue reading →
This one was not on my list of anticipated dramas but now after seeing the official filming wrap trailer I’m interested finally. Hunan TV modern romance C-drama Dazzling with Guan Xiao Tong and Li Yun Rui isn’t rumored to air anytime soon, and my guess from the vibe it’s well suited to be a summer release, but the drama was … Continue reading →
I do like reunions of leads from hit dramas but these two Meng Zi Yi and Li Yun Rui I have no feels about since I didn’t watch Blossom and neither ever appealed to me strongly before. But they are indeed hot thanks to that drama and this reunion in the period drama Tigers Sniff the Rose is getting more … Continue reading →
So lunar new year is in mere days and already the 2025 C-drama season truly feels in the rear view mirror and everyone is onto the latest releases that kicked off the 2026 season. There will be plenty of C-dramas dropping but one interesting one with a lot of baggage is Rebirth (冰湖重生 Bing He Cong Sheng), the sequel to … Continue reading →
