Gong Hyo Jin and Jung Joon Won in Talks for K-drama A Bona Fide Killer About an Assassin Housewife
A new K-drama is being cast and this one at least on paper sounds interesting and potentially thrilling. Webtoon A Bona Fide Killer is getting a live action adaptation and in talks for the leads are Gong Hyo Jin and Jung Joon Won. It’s the story about a killer for hire who gets married to a reporter and after being out on maternity leave for three years as a stay at home mom and housewife she returns to her former organization. I’m happy with the casting especially Gong Hyo Jin who needs another drama quickly to wipe away the hot mess that was When the Stars Gossip earlier this year. Plus she actually gives off a cold and cooler image so mom assassin sounds great.
Another action? I’ll be all in. Kdrama is absolutely great at this genre. After finishing suspenseful Legend of Zang Hai 2X, Cdrama has left nothing worth a peek again although 80% of this blogging site has been dedicating mostly to Cdrama now. Back to Kdrama and I found so many interesting ones already premiered in the meanwhile. I started to watch Good Boy. Boy! The ending of ep1 fired up to the exciting mode of K Avengers LOL. Love it! Love all the badass Olympians!
Oh this is such good news!! I really have been enjoying A Bona-Fide Killer and was a little surprised no one had tried to make an adaptation yet. I think Gong Hyo Jin would actually be a perfect Bona. She can very convincingly be both the cooler than cool super-assassin and the sweet, down-to-earth, ordinary mom. I just hope that the drama itself stays faithful to the webtoon.
Just like Bona herself, the webtoon is a dark thriller one minute, and the next it is a heartwarming slice of life about an extended family. Then just went you are settling in, the webtoon hits you with blindingly sharp social commentary. (Bona and her colleagues aren’t just contract killers, they take out convicted criminals who have used their wealth and power to escape justice. They are more like professional vigilantes.)
Done right, this drama could make everyone collectively forget When Stars Gossip. The critical part is if the producers do the webtoon justice. (Pun very much intended.)
This sounds very interesting, a bit similar to Taxi Driver which I enjoyed immensely. Thank you for sharing.
