Xianxia C-drama Feud with Bai Lu and Zeng Shun Xi Wraps Run with Ending as Weird and Unsatisfying as the Entire Story — 30 Comments

  1. The only good thing about this drama is that it truly raised the question of watering the views and faking Yunhe. That is about the only discussion that even existed about it.

    • “Feud” never pretended to be a traditional romance; it’s a cosmic tug-of-war between duty and desire, empathy and law — not a hand-holding fairy tale.

Zeng Shun Xi’s performance was subtle and restrained because his character was literally shackled by heaven’s laws. He wasn’t there to woo — he was there to endure. Bai Lu? She made being torn between divine order and raw human instinct look damn near Shakespearean. You may call her “self-absorbed,” but I saw a woman burning with impossible choices.

As for chemistry — not every love story is built on flirting and fan service. Some are built on tragedy, and that’s what “Feud” went for: love that’s cracked, cursed, and cosmic. It’s not about making you feel comfortable — it’s about leaving you unsettled. And on that front? Mission accomplished. 😌✨

  2. Sigh, now that my busy schedule is slowing down a bit I was planning on checking this drama out, but after reading this…maybe not. I really would love to see Bai Lu in another modern drama though to be honest.

    • i have completed the drama and was happy with the ending after all. Just watch it yrself and the drama was heart wrenching and love it so much.

    • Personally point of view , i like the ending of the drama. The acting of Bailu and ZengShunxi are great and gorgeous. The story slight drag but overall i would give it 8/10.

    • Ohmygosh, someone said exactly what I have been thinking watching this drama. I was so disappointed because I absolutely love Bai Lu. I adore fantasy C dramas. I felt extremely frustrated alot if the time as well. Unfortunately, this was such a missed opportunity to make something amazing but the writing and tone definitely fell short. The constant flash backs to finally figure out what the heck the problem was didn’t work either. It ended up just being very annoying overall and It’s too bad.

    • Truly I wasn’t satisfied with their chemistry… The suspense was annoying, and the ending was disappointing for me.. but I didn’t regret watching it though cos I love xianxa Cdrama

  3. The most enjoyable part for me were the costumes – it def had a bit of Roman/Grecian influence, which was interesting.

At this point I think Joseph Zeng just doesn’t have chemistry with any woman lol. Whenever I see him, I always get a contemptuous feel, like he feels he’s above them. I don’t know why I feel that way, but he gives off an arrogant vibe. I can’t take his romance very seriously.

Bailu shows improvements in this series. Serviceable. People always say they love Bailu because she’s not a dramatic actress, which in some interpretation, just means she underacts – typically true IMO. But in this one, what she needs to do, she has done. And as a character, I do like her. She is a one-person army trying to fight against injustice towards those who are lesser than her and change the status quo. At some point, the pain of her loss overwhelms her and others took advantage of her vulnerability to use her. Not her fault. The only problem I saw was her needing BJS to save her constantly, which is tiring. At least her righteous anger towards heaven was correct and she showed BJS where he was wrong. Sad that we didn’t see what impact that made on him once he was a god again.

I have two takes on the ending, neither of which leaves me very satisfied: *SPOILER ALERT*

    1) HRY changes the past, but in alternate worlds. The time goddess mentioned she manages 3000 worlds. Who’s to say she didn’t change the past for one or multiple of those 3000 worlds? That would explain why she can go back to the past and talk to herself in one of the worlds, because simply being able to go back to the past and talk to herself implies the future still happened and that can’t be the case if her changes made any impact. Regardless of the changes she made, when she returns, she will always return to her own timeline, which is why the past doesn’t change the future. The most logical, but bittersweet ending.

    2) But let’s say that the changes did make an impact, but fate doesn’t veer off course. Which is why this is the 2nd possible ending – she fixed whatever misunderstandings there are, but cause and effect ensures that whatever will be, will still be. Those who were meant to die, will still die. She resolved a lot of misunderstandings, allowing past couples to be happy for longer periods, but it doesn’t impact the end. This is what I’m unhappy about – what’s the cause and effect behind her son dying? What’s the cause and effect of her master dying? She allowed drought dragon to die, as a cause, so the effect of sacrificing herself to bring rain for karmic retribution makes sense. But because she sowed the seeds of good in saving Xuan Wei (her head disciple), he fulfilled that karmic equation and sacrificed himself instead. I can accept that explanation. But her son? Bai Jiu Si? Her “master”? All dying makes zero sense. We never understood what was the cause to equal that effect.

Butterfly effect without the butterfly doesn’t really work. So I reject that 2nd ending. Which leaves me with ending number one. Still sad, but at least they got to be together.

    • I have yet to enjoy any pairing Joseph Zeng had with any actress…but he was not too bad in Mysterious Lotus Casebook.

  4. whatever complaint this series get, it is the only series get 10,000 so far in 2025 for Iqiyi
    Investor happy, money guaranted

    • not quite true. Drifting away with Zhao Jin Mai got higher heat index. And from what understand that Fued getting to 10008 for just a couple hours is being contested as orchastrated and not real. But I don’t care. Companies will do what is best for their bottom line.

    • The problem with Feud is that the data is not organic and everyone at Data group agreed it was water and IQiyi lowered their 10k heat index for it. Before this, you need to reach at least 63m daily views to hit 10k but Feud did it witn 53k. Thats why everyone was mad since iQiyi kills their prestigious 10l heat with this drama. They spent really a lot on marketing for this drama as well.

  5. I was bored from the beginning. After watching alot of Cdramas you can tell where a drama is going just off the first 2 episodes. I knew it wasn’t going anywhere good. The chemistry and plot were so lame. It didn’t make me want to know more like BaiLu’s drama till the end of the moon where the plot and chemistry actually made sense. This drama was not my cup of tea

  6. I mean I don’t really like people hati g on it , like it was the best drama ever , people are so jealous, the drama has sense the thing is that the people don’t have any common sense I’ m sorry If I had offended anyone but if you don’t like it , then don’t hate on it , they had a nice chemistry and a happy ending .

    • Oh so it has a happy ending? Like a legit happy ending? Not one of those open endings that you have to guess could be a happy ending?

  7. I loved everything about this drama the cast the story the side characters emotions everything it’s just need to have some patience watching it and it won’t disappoint u

  8. I loved everything about this drama the cast the story the side characters emotions everything it’s just need to have some patience watching it and it won’t disappoint u

  9. It was the most confusing and exhausting show I have ever watched. They are together at the end, although not the end anyone would have liked. Loved all the actors, but script should have been better.

  10. I couldn’t agree more! Two great actors put into a poorly written and executed a drama. The only redeeming feature was the stunning CGI and gorgeous costumes.

  11. I enjoyed the drama, however, I don’t see why it has some of the highest ratings of all the series released so far this year. You summed up the plot the same way I did. Hua Ruyue is an extremely annoying character. The entire drama, or the majority of it, is her talking about how Bai Jiusi deserves to die because of her sufferings. At no point did it really make sense to me. He did not intend to hurt her. She suffered due to her own choices, and he even made her punishment light and took the worst of it for her.

I also felt no real connection from either of them, because the writing never really gave it to us. It was a lot of talk about love and hate, but nothing really built up their bonds before breaking them. I still felt sad at some parts, so it wasn’t terrible. It just wasn’t the best drama ever, either. The ending, while a little satisfying, also feels empty somehow. It’s still a happy one, though. I’m glad for it.

The music, costumes, acting, special effects, were all on point.

  12. You are wrong it’s a nice drama of misunderstanding and coming to terms with oneself being played by other. Bai lui was great and so was the male lead. All emotions was there. When their child died the pain and all was very clear. They were going through love tribulations. I find it different and likable, not like other xanxia c drama

  13. I like feud in fairness to Bai lu it is my first time to see her firm., strong famle role I live feud and the lead male star they both supporting their roles .. Though I did not see yet the ending

  14. I love it soomuch worthto watchI will recommendkit guys watch it…JosephZengportraitwad amazinghe wad so cute when he had the amnesia….watchit guy 10/10 for FEUD

  15. “Feud” never pretended to be a traditional romance; it’s a cosmic tug-of-war between duty and desire, empathy and law — not a hand-holding fairy tale.

  16. I binged watched this drama. We have our own preferences and for me, this drama was worth to watch. So many twists and turns, you need to watch carefully or else you might miss out certain things which explains other things.I specially love the set, the best set among the other dramas that I’ve watched.
