Period C-drama A Journey to Glow with Male Lead Wang An Yu Continues Looking for Female Lead with Zhao Jin Mai Courted
Reportedly iQiyi is set on starting filming for period C-drama A Journey to Glow this coming June, after it’s been delayed now close to a year. This was a female lead centric drama at the beginning with Yu Shu Xin in the lead, then the drama found Wang An Yu for the male lead. But she left the production after her scandal last summer 2025 but he stayed on and the production is confirmed with him. So the story is reportedly now more male lead centric and the production is ramping up the search for the female lead now. The big name topping the list is Zhao Jin Mai and the drama really wants her. I’m not sure she’ll take it, and the casting gossip says the production is also talking to Wang Yu Wen and Guan Xiaotong.
Let’s see if zhao jinmai will accept the offer. I remember back then cnetz were saying that no actress will dare to play the fl because of the possible backlash from ysx fans. Anyway, did ysx leave the production voluntarily or she was forced to leave? I remember back then her fans already went to the booting ceremony site for this drama only to be informed at the last minute that filming couldn’t start as planned.
Probably between the last two would join him since they lack popularity compared to the first. But why does it feel more or less this actor since he did not succeed as hoped in the last immortal, things have been sluggish for him to succeed. He has the looks and talent but his choice in dramas always seem so mediocre. I liked him in To Fly With You and Back to You but since just can’t get into his other roles so far. That might just be me but hope the best for him and that he gets a female lead.
So you didn’t watch Romance in The Alley? One of the biggest dramas of the last two years. He was in that and got a lot of praise.
WAY has yet to convince me of his impact as a leading man! Some actors aren’t bad but somehow lack strong online presence or charisma. Inferior visuals (perhaps due to unbecoming styling in costume dramas) don’t help. WAY is one of this type of actors.
Between YSX and ZJM, the casting of the latter is a no brainer! Although WAY hasn’t impressed me yet, YSX would be a total turn-off. I don’t pretend I have no stomach for YSX at all. I’d just skip WAY’s drama cuz of my strong aversion to YSX.
Pleeeeease do, for the peace of all those who have to hear you whine with your cheese on all c-ent and c-ent actors.

I also gave compliments to quite a few C actors, young and old, leading or supporting cast. Unfortunately the list has never included your squeaking fav. lol. You’re butthurt cuz I don’t think Esther Yu can act besides looking ugly. Stop twisting my opinion just because I have no stomach for your fav !!!!!
I cannot stomach Esther Yu’s acting. I tried. I really did. But I can’t. She doesn’t have a pretty face for me to look at either. I she’s 30 but acts and sounds like a baby. And ML are all trying to be close to her. They all follow her Lin Yi Zhang linghe etc. I bet maybe because she’s rich. I dunno. I hope Zhao Jinmai takes it. I like wang anyu and I these two will have chemistry. I think zjm is a better actress than Esther. Not an Esther hater but I really just don’t see the hype for her to be honest.
@Cdramafanatic – That’s cool if you don’t like her. Unlike Somebody who seethes till her teeth bleeds with every actor she dislikes, i generally don’t care if someone doesn’t like someone i like. Just don’t watch her.
Similarly i dont have any feelings towards somebody’s ultra fave Xiao Zhan. Like literally do not care for him at all and don’t find him handsome. But she will passionately preach to everyone and shout from the rooftop that he is amazing. When you disagree, she will fight you with ratings and rabidly fling reviews in your face and oh, if you can’t do that with your fav actor, that must mean your actor suck and they’re not worthy *eyeroll*.
Nowadays i dont watch anything with XZ in it, so i dont even bother reading his news. i still dont see his appeal. Dunno why its so hard for people to mind their own business

I bet Zhao Jin Mai is like at the top of every casting list. If it’s more male-centric now, I can’t imagine the production successfully getting any of those ladies to agree to be FL.
