C-ent Casting Rumor Says Meng Zi Yi and Li Yun Rui are Reuniting for the Third Time in Modern Romance C-drama Kiss in the Wind
No. Just no. I need these two to individually and together take a time out. You know when a teacher tells an overeager student to sit in the corner and just read quietly, it’s feeling like that talk needs to go out to Meng Zi Yi and Li Yun Rui. This week the C-ent casting rumor is saying, and with great certainty with this rumor I might add, that the two will reunite for the THIRD TIME for modern romance C-drama Kiss in the Wind (Deng Re Feng Wen Ni 等风热吻你). This project has been with Meng Zi Yi for some time and the list of potential male leads in talks went from Zhang Ling He to Deng Wei to now Li Yun Rui yet again. I know Blossom unexpectedly did well but it was no blockbuster so what is with production companies thinking the world wants these two to keep working together?!?! And in such a short time span as well. Consider me over them, though I wasn’t even into them either haha.
So it seems for them to be relevant in the industry they just need to pairup together everywhere but unfortunately bloosom was watchable just because of plot,i don’t see any great performance being delivered by the main actors like it was supposed to be. Better script cool characters plot, Tons of Slowmo fight scene with lots of slow motion poses most were like gaming intro poses,special eye popping staring only in every emotions by our female lead with same repetitive douyin makeup that we see in her every period & xianxia dramas that sometimes people get confused that they are from different dramas when we see her roles portfolio together.
In variety show, award show, events they are promoting cp, in every new project they are doing collabs.I must admit after being in the contovery many times and being in the sideline they are using their fluke success however they can, if not solo then with eachother.
Liyunrui is so overated, the character in blossom gave him bit aura or else in other dramas he is same as a wood. Meng ziyi was not good sibger but still got to sing in national holiday platform, only praised for beauty intially but later seems to have froze her whole face that we can only see eye popping as a emotion with pout. How is she even getting cast in dramas as main lead, there are better side character actors acting than her. Her variety show persona is so on point of imitation from korean variety show xman guests.
It seems the platform are giving their all to make them A-list actors in the eye of audience.
Like give deserving serious actors the opportunity and also give LY and MZ opportunity to shine as side characters because they can’t carry dramas atp they are wasting great novels adaptation .

I agree with He Lan Dou. I was so impressed with her acting in the Journey to Love and was disappointed that her career didn’t take off on a high level after that. She deserves to be in a lot more female lead roles
I am seeing Li Yun Rui’s name in a number of dramas… I am fond of Wang Xingyue, I wish he will get good scripts too. His acting needs more training and polishing but Li Yun Rui’s is the same too.

Aren’t people tired of this pairing and especially of her? I find him decent enough but not sure if he’s an amazing actor. She is NOT a good actress at all and should just stay in variety land. Her constant plastic surgery and obsession with looking pretty n over the top makeup also makes her look so ridiculous. Something about her demeanour and public persona is also very offputting. Pls give us a break from ur fish lips and just stay in variety land for awhile plsss🙏
Blossom really only worked because Zeng Qing Jie worked his magic on them. Maybe Tiger Sniffs the Rose should air and get feedback before these two are pushed together again.
Does anyone know how much control they have for pairing? Do they have scripting choice – as in are they managed by a studio or are they in control of their own studio/management choices? I don’t mean to be sarcastic, I’m genuinely curious… I assume that most actors when signing on to movies/dramas may not know who their acting partners will be if the role(s) were unassigned when they themselves were contracted. Also does anyone know of examples of leading C-men/ladies who chose or were cast into supporting roles afterwards? I can’t think of any off the top of my head except for actors/actresses that ‘aged out’ of male lead/female lead roles. I’m not commenting on the pairing above it just reminded me to ask these questions because I’ve always wondered how much autonomy Chinese actors/actresses actually have.
I am so over this pairing. Blossom was okay and by the end I was fast Fwding their scenes bec I just wanted to end the show.
They don’t even have that much chemistry. And Meng ziyi’s face is really distracting for me.
It’s like there are so many actors and actresses and the same 5 keep rotating. Here they are not even rotating.
I honestly don’t think MZY is as unbearable as Bai Lu. Visuals aside, MZY is more watchable than BL.
Because of so much criticism about Zhang Linghe’s acting, I decided to watch ALL his dramas prior to his breakout hit, Pursuit of Jade. LOL. I’m the one gonna decide whether ZLH can act or not. Others have no authority to brainwash me if he’s just a pretty boy. I rewatched PoJ to just study his acting LOL thanks to all the vitriol directed at and all the shade thrown on him. I think he did a great job in PoJ, and his physique, visuals, presence, aura, mannerism, expressions, all perfectly fit the character of Marquis Wu’an. His acting in PoJ is natural and convincing, not distracting like many C leading men. Now I’m on a binge watching ALL his dramas to finish my study. lmao. I have a lot to catch up cuz Maiden Holms was the only ZLH’s drama I’ve ever finished besides PoJ.
I used to consider BL serviceable. But Story of Kunning Palace highlighted BL’s weakness to the point I think she’s unwatchable. She looked like an auntie, walked like an auntie, and the worst part was her line delivery. It was so bad that I could hardly stand her ho-hum voice in Chinese. Her presence in that female centric plot is dull as dishwater. I watched SoKP for ZLH’s sake and by chance added a boring actor to my blacklist. lmao.
Not a fan of MZY. Blossom is the only MZY’s drama that I was able to finish. But I have to be fair, she was way more convincing as the heroine in Blossom than BL in SoKP. Ppl throw shade on MZY’s visuals. Welp, she looks very much like her biological mom. I guess they are extremely wealthy that they both have gone under knifes to look plastic. lol.
I actually thought he was convincing as a general in POJ too. Perfectly clean face aside, I think his tall stature made his presence felt formidable. Like the scene with the eunuch, I thought he gave off scary general aura. Not sure why everyone is saying he’s so unbelievable as a general. I like the more subtle acting he demonstrated here. I thought he overacted quite a bit in SOKP, but at least he tried. He wasn’t complaining about the odd angles and random close ups that made ridiculous in SOKP. Could he have more battle scenes in POJ? Could they have smudge some dirt on his face? Sure. But it seemed like those tiny little complaints are blown out of proportion.
If you are rewatching ZLH dramas. I highly suggest you don’t bother with Tiger and Crane. I thought it was total nonsense.
I just finished SoKP. My gosh, finally I did it! BL did better in the 2nd half of the drama, but watching her in the first half was like watching paint dry. 😭 She was worse than in One and Only; In SoKP, her energy was dead on arrival; she sounded bored and looked like she needed a nap. lol.
I recall that I dropped this drama years ago for similar reasons that BL just looked bored and boring from the get-go. Now, I’m glad I picked up the drama gain for ZLH’s sake. The plot is actually interesting and I enjoyed the most part of the story telling. Other cast are appropriate. ZLH, although tried a bit too hard sometimes, did prove he has huge potential to show more range. Compared with SoKP, he improved a lot in PoJ.
I’m now picking up My Journey to You. Funny thing is, I’m so allergic to Esther Yu’s voice and demeanor that I did not even check this drama. Now I found her “normal” in MJtY, more watchable than BL in SoKP. lol.
I’ll keep a close eye on ZLH’s performances. The antis are basically fueling my interest at this point. lol. His look and height are such huge assets for an actor. It’s only a matter of time before his hard work and smart project choices earn him the recognition his acting deserves.
IMO Meng Zi Yi looks very pretty in her younger photos without heavy makeup.
I’m inclined to think that she didn’t do PS, but then if there are so much complaints about her current looks, why didn’t she revert to her old looks, if it is just make up? There must be a reason why she is stuck with the same looks and styling, maybe these looks brings her current popularity.
Hard to take the rumor seriously when Tiger Sniffs the Rose hasn’t even aired yet. Sounds like the production is trying to get some buzz around it.
