Song Wei Long Lands Coveted Big Male Lead Action and Fantasy Xianxia C-drama Huo Wang
C-actor Song Wei Long has reportedly landed on his next project and it’s an interesting one that also had other actors in the running. The drama is titled Huo Wang (火旺) or Blazing Fire and is adapted from a thriller xianxia C-drama about a high school student who may or may not be mentally unwell in the modern world who also travels between a battle laden xianxia realm and needs to overcome obstacles to survive. It’s a big male lead IP story and earlier on Zhang Ruo Yun and Ding Yu Xi were both in talks for the drama. This sounds like a cool project and a change of pace for Song Wei Long who has been doing modern romances in his most recent dramas.

If anyone thinks this was “coveted” by ZRY I have a bridge to sell you. Or that he and SWL would ever be in any way up for the same role. Some realism please.
Guessing the producers tried to pitch it to ZRY and he said no and that’s what “in talks” mean? But yeah, hard to imagine that SWL and ZRY would ever be up for the same role.
I have a hard time believing Song Wei Long got this role.
It’s not going to be on the same level if ZRY has accepted this role.
Yes, I equally don’t believe ZRY is competing for the same role with SWL. SWL’s last romance drama did well. But I felt that his costar Zhao Jinmai carried the drama.
Cdramas are slowly going down the drain. Too many idol dramas with all these mediocre “actors” and “actresses” just switching up leadnroles here and there. All similar stories and over focus on looks and pandering to the international audience
I heard the male lead character requires someone with solid acting skills. So the zry and dyx casting rumours does make sense. i don’t know if swl’s acting has improved after a league of nobleman, but his acting there was far from good.
I wish that Wu Lei and his drama casting news was switched up. Wu Lei isn’t always consistent, but I find him better staying away from romance focused dramas. Song Weilong’s acting has been stagnant for years, but I find him more tolerable in modern dramas.
I feel the same about WL. Not a fan for his modern romance at all. I only appreciated his acting in Love Like the Galaxy. Even in Nirvana in Fire, his acting did not appear natural.
