Tan Jian Ci and Lu Yu Xiao Bring the Chemistry in First Look at Hunan TV Period C-drama Dancing with the Tide
I wasn’t super interested in Hunan TV period C-drama Dancing with the Tides (何不同舟渡 He Bu Tong Zhou Du) but now seeing pictures and posters from the set it’s looking way more promising. Starring Tan Jian Ci and Lu Yu Xiao, the drama was in development for years with so many rumored leads that I was pretty meh with the final casting and news that it was actually starting filming. But Tan Jian Ci and Lu Yu Xiao are interesting in that neither have the visuals or physique of bigger stars of their generation but onscreen both can deliver wins on X-factor if playing the right role with the right onscreen partner. From these stills the two definitely are exhibiting chemistry so good first impression for me.
I’ve been impressed with their performances in dramas when they weren’t the main leads, preferred them,in fact. Have subsequently sought out their other dramas, enjoyed them.
Both do chemistry well, am looking forward to this.
Preferred them/their characters to the main leads in those specific dramas, is what I meant. Not their playing 2nd leads over main leads. Definitely want to see them leading.
I feel like 2nd lead/supporting characters get to be more interesting.
While I cheer actors on for making it to lead, it does make me feel like we’re losing out an aspect of their acting – at least for the next decade or so.
I agree. I read the book and I think they are perfectly cast for their roles and have great chemistry. Yes, the romance fans should be happy, but it’s also a spy story, and the cost it takes on people. Most the characters are well rounded with their own motivations explained, even if they are adversaries — and they’ve got great actors playing them. IOW, lots of gray characters, which I love.
Both of them are pretty good actors. LYX has this very easy presence on screen, and i liked her role in MJTY, her subsequent roles haven’t interested me. TJC was sooo good in under the skin and in another 2 costume dramas i’ve seen him in, cant remember the names, he was pretty outstanding too.

LYX’s agency is suing TJC’s fans, TJC’s agency made a statement urging everyone to love and protect the drama and third male lead Cao Jun’s agency shared that they are not responsible for the rumours saying that Cao Jun is better than TJC.
Apparently LYX’s fans have been spreading bad rumours about TJC online and one of the core members of her fan club management was pointed out to be the ringleader. TJC’s fans are also angry about LYX’s apparent lack of professionalism on set: from taking photos/ doing douyin dances while the Director is giving directions to the whole set, making a mistake with a prop during filming but surreptitiously changing the mistake instead of calling for a reshoot, NG-ing many times. Her fans have sought to defend her by saying that it is NG-ing is no big deal, they can just do another take, or that if she NGs, it is the fault of the director or co-star for not guiding her properly.. but that just worsens the situation for LYX.
Her agency (also Zhang Linghe’s agency) is powerful and has already taken down many unfavorable comments overnight. But TJC’s fanbase is huge.. so it’s most likely going to be messy.
TJC fan base? The one that just tried to tear down HMH with false accusations of plagiarism because they can’t take that HMH is overtaking him? That innocent little fan group? Tsk.
The original complaints were directed, and still are, at their mutual concert organizer, Youling — but of course some took it elsewhere and gossip headlines were sure to push the sensational take. And since the lawyers have been called in to investigate (Youling), it’s too early to claim the original complaint was false.
That said, I thought it was extremely bad timing and form to complain right before HMH’s first ticket sales, if you want people to believe your problem is with Youling.

Are you still obsessed with Xiao Zhan Kokuto? In case you don’t know guys, Kokuto here has been camping for months at the The Infinite Ten Days page on MDL because she had a nervous breakdown when she learned her precious Tan Jianci wasn’t the lead. She spent those months spewing the most vile things, all supported by other Tan Jianci fans who also think that this is something that should be done. Of course you all attacked HMH, you are human garbage.
What a lovely bunch of people, TJC fans. I invite everyone to go see their insanity! It’s something!

You just can’t stop talking about “TJC,” lying about him, and attaching him to Xiao Zhan, for some reason. hmmmmmm I welcome anyone to visit and join MDL, and especially to see just how cray cray XZ’s fans gang up on anyone who disagrees with them, labeling them “TJC” fans, even when they are not. Bring your popcorn.
C-drama always has drama behind the scenes. C-fans are excitable, especially when they are egged on by rival productions or actors. It is not a coincidence that this happens, after a spike in popularity and reservations right after reuters of a kissing scene.
It was Cao Jun fans, who, no surprise, think highly of him and allegedly do this often. Defamation law suits don’t name who they are suing. Lu Yu Xiao has been plagued by rumors and haters for years and is finally suing them. TJC’s fans need to avoid squabbles and listen to him: love the entire cast and crew who are all working hard to make a great drama, and protect the drama. None of the actors need this mess when they are negotiating their next projects.
There has been a slew of accusations against young actresses of the 95 generation recently. Furthermore it turns out that some of the clips that were allegedly showing LYX behaving unprofessionally, have been maliciously edited. It feels to me like someone unrelated to the Dancing With The Tide drama is trying to discredit the competition now that the air in C-ent is getting thinner and roles for rising your actresses are gettting fewer.
