Long Time K-celeb Couple Jung Kyung Ho and Sooyoung Confirm Breakup After 14 Years Together
Relationships are binary, whether ordinary folks or celebs the end result is married/together or divorced/breakup. This couple had been together for so long it was coming up on that pivotal moment of marriage or breakup if I saw the news report on them. And sadly it’s breakup, with K-ent famous couple Sooyoung and Jung Kyung Ho confirming they have indeed ended their relationship after 14 years together. The official reason is their work kept them apart and they didn’t have much time to spend together, and that’s a totally fine reason no need to speculate further. They were one of the longest and seemingly most stable long term dating couples in K-ent and this news albeit sad still feels like they gave it their all and had a good chance of making it but in the end decided it wasn’t meant to be.
When I saw it earlier I thought it was a marriage announcement. Did not expect a break up! I guess their priorities didn’t align anymore. Best of wishes to both, things like this are not easy to get over. 14 years is a long time.
What a shame such a long time. although I never saw the potential of them being together as married for all those years. You know some people really have that aura of being a couple when they are together or not on screen you just feel it, that feeling wasnt there for them imo.
Usually people who drag it out end up breaking up.
Sad, but not surprised. When a couple dates for this long without marriage, they typically break up. Exception would be if they had started dating in their teens. I’ll bet one or both of them will be married to other people within the next 2 years.

Well on the other hand there was Ji Sung/Lee Bo Young (got married after 9 years together) and Kim Woobin/Shin Min Ah (recently married after 10 years together but then they had exceptional circumstances too)

Totally agree. Wouldn’t be shocked if they ended up with non-celebs and we’ll just be pleasantly surprised to read the wedding announcement in a couple of years.
i like this couple. Very lowkey. Unfortunately I think a long term relationship without any changes or goal would be difficult to have a Happy ending
Idk what happened but sooyoung always struck me as pretty independent and content with where their rlshp is at, whereas jkh always seemed to want more but was waiting for her. Like someone said above for some reason they never quite gave me a solid, together forever couple feel as well. Mainly cos something about them never felt quite aligned.
Dating this long also shows that both werent quite on the same page long term commitment wise, although in public both talked about marriage occassionally. I kinda think he would be the one to marry quickly in the next year or so.
@Anne- I got that impression too, they don’t have a huge age gap but she was so young at the start of the relationship that marriage probably wasn’t in her mind at all.
Based on what he’s said in past interviews, she wanted to be more established as an actress before marrying, she was focused on her career which is understandable but marriage never sounded like a real priority for her, like you said he was the one who sounded like he wanted to marry her and she was more like “no I’m happy as we are”, priorities did misalign. Doesn’t mean the relationship wasn’t meaningful though.
Yeah it definitely was meaningful in many years and he was her first bf too, probably many firsts for each of them during the long 14 years together.
She got together ard the same time I got together with an ex, im around her age and my ex is around jkh age. We also broke up when I wanted to focus on my career vs him wanting to marry. So I can totally why that may have happened for them.
Likely the guy grew tired of waiting….14 years, he has proposed to her twice but rejected by her, citing career first. Post announcement, she posted herself in Japan, looking so bright and chirpy whereas he posted a forlorn pic of their pup. Hope they can reconcile or he finds the right one for marital bliss soon.
