Nam Joo Hyuk and Han So Hee in Talks for Romance K-drama Heartbeat From the Screenwriter of Lovely Runner
I could totally see these two K-stars doing a drama especially a few years ago when both were super popular and everywhere, so it’s nicer that their onscreen pairing comes now after their hype era has died down. K-ent is reporting that Nam Joo Hyuk and Han So Hee are in discussions for the K-drama Heartbeat. He plays a man who conceals his past and she plays a woman who can see the past, but of course lol, and their romance unfolds as they are swept up into a situation. Aside from the casting, the other notable of this drama is that the screenwriter previously wrote Lovely Runner and adapted True Beauty both of which have its fervent drama fans.
I have yet to like any of her drama lead roles so far. She just tends to choose roles and dramas that I just don’t jive with. This sounds it could be an interesting story if done right. Will wait and see.
The title reminded me of the other Heartbeat drama with Taecyeon which started out fabulously only to crash and burn. I hope they go with a less generic title.
As for the pairing – don’t feel much either way. While I loved Lovely Runner and am excited for the writer, I also felt like director did a lot of heavy-lifting to make it as romantic and enchanting as it was.
@prettyautumn I agree, with Lovely Runner there was a significant and visible difference in the drama’s aesthetics (and visual appeal) between the PDs….and that’s without counting how much of the drama’s appeal lay specifically with the two leads and their performances (with BWS benefiting especially from the support of the PD and his costar, not to discount his own work ofc and the fact that he had a bit more range than NJH has shown in his career so far).
I’ve liked Han Sohee in other dramas, she was good in My Name and Nevertheless and those two roles were very dramatically different from each other, she can act all right, I’m just not sure of this pairing.
I’m still yet to warm up to this duo. To be honest, I’ve never liked any of HSH’s roles or dramas. As for NJH, he’s had several hits before, though I never managed to finish any of them. Nonetheless, his current drama, The East Palace: Limited Series, is ranking #2 globally on Netflix for non-English shows. K-dramas have been completely sweeping the top charts lately! I’ll definitely check out The East Palace at some point. But right now, I am fully invested in a low-key C-drama called Blossoms of Power. I am absolutely loving He Yu’s comedic energy as a confidently calculating schemer. He is bitchily hot. Lmao.
She has zero romantic chemistry with any actors. He’s a very mediocre actor. Hard pass on this. That said hard pass on Solo Leveling as well. HSH + Byun Woo Seok – *shudder*
