I not only want this movie to be good I really hope it does well. Too bad we won’t ever know what type of traditional box office it would have brought in but if it starts trending on Netflix that will be good news enough. Sci-fi Korean movie Space Sweepers (Spaceship Victory) drops this weekend on Netflix worldwide, finally meeting audiences after two consecutive theater opening delays due to COVID-19. Starring Song Joong Ki, Kim Tae Ri, Yoo Hae Jin, and Jin Seon Kyu as a crew of ragtag space cowboy/junkers who end up in possession of a little girl who may or may not be a weapon of mass destruction, it totally borrows from the Firefly playbook but hopefully with a Korean sensibility and twist. It’s the first time I’ve seen a big budget K-movie set in space so kudos for finally launching off the terrestrial realm into new frontiers.
