I personally prefer dramas that I either love, hate, or love to hate, and it’s actually worse when a drama bores me or doesn’t hook me at all for whatever reason. That’s how I feel about recently aired period C-drama Unveil: Jadewind with Bai Lu and Wang Xing Yue. I watched the first episode hoping for the same cheesy but fun mystery as The Wanted Detective but ended up utterly cold. The mysteries from the outset aren’t very interesting and the two leads feel like they are going through the motions, Bai Lu is acting like this is for a paycheck and Wang Xing Yue is doing his best robot impression, and they have negative chemistry with each other lol. I do hear it gets better and I may end up giving it another shot with a few more episodes, but sadly the first impression is meh from me.
