Korean Stars IU and Lee Jong Seok Confirmed to Have Broken Up After Four Years Dating
Like I always say, coupledom is fully binary to an ending, it’s either breaking up/divorce or marriage. One of K-ent’s top couples has confirmed they have called it quits, and for those following their careers and the dating gossip this comes as no surprise. Both IU and Lee Jong Seok have confirmed via their agency that they have broken up. It official explanation given is that it is a mutual decision and amicable, and chalked up to growing apart due to their busy schedules and not spending time together. Both are in their 30’s already so I won’t be surprised if their next relationship with others ends up being the marriage one. The rumor earlier this year was as they had broken up already, and with this announcement now it feels like they probably kept it under wraps so that her drama Perfect Crown promotions wouldn’t be overshadowed by it and his new drama Remarried Empress is also on deck for later this year and with this news out now by the time it airs it will also no longer be discussed.
They were together for four years, I’m not a believer in the idea that longtime relationships are a waste of time or meaningless just because they don’t end in marriage. Sometimes a relationship is for a particular time of your life and that’s fine, breakups are sad but it is how it is.
In this case I actually believe the reason given for the breakup ie they were too busy. LJS between 2021-25 did only two dramas and a movie, understandable if he wanted to relax a bit post military service but in the last several months he’s shot one drama and got another two lined up, I guess things changed for them when he got a tighter schedule and of course she’s always been busy.
