Who Are You Holds Press Conference and Releases New Preview with Cast Interview

The cast of the upcoming cable network tvN Mon-Tues drama Who Are You attended a press conferences yesterday as the drama gears up for its premiere next week. This was an off-week for tvN since Cyrano Dating Agency finished airing last week, but a breather is never a bad thing. The tone of the two dramas couldn’t be anymore different and CDA viewers tuning in might have a collective fright to go from the rainbows and unicorns of CDA’s frothiness to creepy ghosts stalking a heroine through a dank hospital hallway. I don’t think WAY is intended to be full on horror, but the general concept of sticking dead people in a drama and styling them as dead spirits will send some chills down the spine nevertheless. So Yi Hyun toggles between leading lady and second lead status with equal measure, and I actually like her more when she’s playing second leads (Resurrection, Cheongdamdong Alice). I think her lithe gracefulness gets her cast as soft characters often but she’s got this steeliness in her delivery that actually belies how fragile she looks. I like that her character is a decorated cop before she fell into a coma, and after she awakens she faces the double whammy of not having a memory and suddenly seeing ghosts. At the press conference, her white strapless dress with the weird cutout skirt overlay is….unique for sure and looks good on her even if the dress itself is not particularly attractive. I can’t get over how Taecyeon looks like a giant boy in real life, his honking ears and doofy smile make me want to pinch his cheeks, and here he looks like he took his noona to the prom. I hope their chemistry onscreen is less older sister escorting younger brother out. Kim Jae Wook made me double over in hilarity, his top half with the white dress shirt looks fine, and then your eyes travel South and you witness what appears to be trouser palazzo pants. What. The. Hell. Dude, please regain your fashion sense. The extended cast consists of Kim Ye Won and former child actor Noh Young Hak in his first adult role (made all the more hilarious since he just finished playing young Lee Sang Yoon in Goddess of Fire), along with veterans Kim Chang Wan and Park Young Ji. WAY arrives a week before The Master’s Sun so hopefully the comparisons will end before both air at the same time because the stories will be so different. Continue reading
