Advertising Genius Lee Tae Baek Releases Energetic Fun Teasers
I tried watching a few episodes of School 2013 and while it wasn’t bad I was strangely disengaged from it all. I wonder if I’m currently not in the mood for a nice school drama? Whatever the reason, I’ll probably marathon it at some point if the mood hits, but until then I’m not invested in its ending this week but I am totally counting down the days until its follow up drama Advertising Genius Lee Tae Baek premieres. Starring Jin Goo, Jo Hyun Jae, Park Ha Sun, and Han Chae Young, this one looks like a straight up underdog workplace romance/success story with two sets of leads. Jin Goo is the country bumpkin aiming to succeed by hard work, Park Ha Sun is the daughter of a chaebol that hides her identity to work her way up the ladder, Jo Hyun Jae has the smart advertising executive back from the US to continue his family’s ad agency dominance, and Han Chae Young is an ambitious ad director who uses her willpower and ability to rise up through the ranks. I read the character descriptions and the love lines are all going to be tangled, kinda like Protect the Boss. Jo Hyun Jae’s character is back from the US and intends to marry rich Park Ha Sun because they grew up together and that will strengthen their family alliance, except she gets involved with Jin Goo. But Jin Goo only wants to succeed in the ad business because his ex-girlfriend Han Chae Young left him to pursue career success and he wants another chance with her. And Han Chae Young intends to seduce rich Jo Hyun Jae to further climb her way up the corporate ladder. Oy vey, this looks awesomely convoluted and right up my alley. Of course I’m totally rooting for Jo Hyun Jae and Han Chae Young’s characters to get together, not to mention being able to enjoy them in the same drama without wanting to cringe from the fashion disaster that was Only You. Ah, those were the days. I must say the cast looks great and appears to have loads of chemistry already. Check out the two colorful and fun teasers below which definitely give off a PtB vibe but with less kooky characters.

I want to see that!
I really want to see this drama 🙂
Thanks very much ockoala for the Ad Genius Lee Tae Baek clips highlight. It’s really good to see Jin Goo in a light and even delightful non-gangster-like pensive roles (A Bittersweet Life, Mother, 26 Years). Although in Always (SJS & HHJ), he has the nice guy-next-door role cameo.
Wishing JG and the cast of Ad Genius Lee Tae Baek a great enjoyable series to watch. This makes me remember Ad Madness in the late 90s featuring the eternally-young Won Bin, Choi Kang Hee, Bae Doo Na, Lee Dong Gun, Yang Dong Gun (congrats on upcoming marriage!) and also Kim So Yeon who in a short appearance gets to smooch WB. LOL.
is that drama good…?? it’s first time i’m hearing about it….
I can’t really say if it’s really good .. it’s a pretty old series, basically when all the cast were not the big stars they are today. But I enjoyed watching it because it reminded me of my university days. ^^ And I read that when it was airing in Korea, the series was extended to 32 episodes despite the initial 24(?) episodes. Bae Doo Na however left the show earlier, so did Lee Dong Gun.

Aww… that Jin Gu guy is giving me Mongryong vibes (from DGCH). 😀
I miss Han Chae Young so much and I’m glad she chose a fun drama as a comeback. 🙂
It looks and feels like a film rather than a series…Don’t know why.
My immediate impression is that JHJ is playing a boring character and that other guy has won my heart already.
Jin Goo, why don’t I know you? He has a very very very very very very very very very very very very sexy smile.
Is it too early to mine?
Wow, Jomo. You are fast (on the mining). *Bowing down in awe*
I think you mean “greedy” in a very nice way. 😉

Sometimes I wonder if you’re me; I felt the exact same way about School 2013 when I was looking for a new drama to binge on. Ad Genius Lee Tae Baek looks kind of awesome in the quirky, sweet way, and I’m definitely looking forward to it. Thanks for the signal boost, it probably would not have crossed my mind otherwise.
So far it looks pretty interesting. I like all the leads so I’m giving it a try.
