Arthdal Chronicles Releases Full Cast Stills and Action Packed New Preview

Upcoming tvN sageuk Arthdal Chronicles continues to ramp up for its June 2019 premiere and I continue to be mildly amused at how artfully every one of the cast members are styled. We’re talking early Gojoseon era which is pre-recorded history in the Korean annals so there is a lot of wiggle room for what people looked like and I guess leads Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won was just born with naturally curly hair lol. Can’t lie and say it’s not a leeeeeetle bit distracting to focus on action and plot when I’m wondering why the messiness looks so stylishly arrayed. Seeing aside the visuals the story promises to be epic and engaging with battles for power, pre-ordained destiny and whatnot, and plenty of riding and running around in the vast mountains and rivers that make up historical Korea.

    • Ancient dental health was amazing, wasn’t it? Every time actors in sageuk smile I think, “There goes the historical illusion.”

    • Oh, im not the only one thinking this way. First time i saw the promotion pics, i was like ‘inspired by got?’ and hell yes, it probably got inspired by game of throne.

      The outfit and cinematography, got vibe, indeed.

  4. Gives me Legend of Condor Hero vibes. Hope the story is as epic to match the scale of it.

  6. Jang Dong Gun looks magnificent. Seriously he can look great wearing even a garbage bag wrapped around him and still comes off smouldering hot, heehee. I like SJK as an actor but his character’s curly hair is a wee bit distracting for me. I can tell immediately that it’s a wig. Once I know an actor/actress is wearing a wig, the character becomes unbelievable. Anyway I hope he can compensate for it with awesome acting. Yoon Sang Hyun could pull off curly ajumma hair in Secret Garden coz it was real. He had up to 3-4 different hairstyles in SG but still slayed it with his acting. Get his hairstylist Asadal production team. The rest of the cast look good, got the GOT vibe with last still of the lady in red like the witch Melisandre.

    • i dont think it is a wig. I seem to recall events in which he turn up with this new curly hair and people were shocked.

      • If that is his real hair, even more tragic. Hairstylist has gone a bit overboard with the curls & frizz. Sometimes less is more.
