First Official Stills for Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 with New Leads Lee Jun Ki and Shin Se Kyung and Returning Villains Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ok Bin

It’s raining K-drama goodies to start off the week so here is the first official stills for Arthdal Chronicles 2, the sequel to the 2020 summer blockbuster primed drama that wasn’t. It will air next year in 2023 and in the drama narrative there will be a time jump as teenaged character leads played by Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won will turn into adult versions of Lee Jun Ki and Shin Se Kyung. Me likes! Returning looking older and more desperate is Jang Dong Gun who clearly is a Goliath meeting his David, with Kim Ok Bin also back as the sorceress wanting to be queen. Power and destiny once again collides with season 2 hopefully lighting the drama better so audiences can actually see shit and also please start giving answers rather than build a bajillion narrative threads.

First Official Stills for Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 with New Leads Lee Jun Ki and Shin Se Kyung and Returning Villains Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ok Bin — 9 Comments

  1. Lee Jun Ki is always perfection in sageuk.

Not quite liking SSK styling here but I trust she will do well, given her past performances with this writer.

I am putting my faith on this PD (I like his works for The Great Battle). Hopefully Arthdal 2 will fare so much better than season 1.

  2. LJK’s haircut is way better than the one they gave to SJK in the first season!

The story of the first season wasn’t good and I really wonder why they still want to tell this story…

My favourite thing in the first season was the relationship between Kim Ji-Won and Ki Do-Hoon aka Yangcha. I liked Karika character but with the scandal of the actress, I wonder if she will be back.

  3. They should have cast Lee Joongi from the start. Song Joongki looked odd in season 1 that made me dropped the drama after episode 1. Hope season 2 is better.

  4. After watching love between fairy and devil, I realise that cgi and sets doesn’t mean much when the story is engaging, arthdal needs a story that hook up viewer.

The things is, it feels all over the place because the character didn’t interact much to the point that I don’t care if they change the actor at all.

  5. LJK will be amazing in this. Given the age of the characters, SJK was believable as the innocent youth Eunsom, but I think LJK will look more powerful as the older version of the character. Unfortunately, we will get no more of SJK playing Eunsom’s ethereal twin Saya. SJK was looking like a complete elf in the role. His Saya was the main reason I continued to watch the drama, so I’m definitely sad he’s not returning for season 2.
