This Friday evening in Seoul was the Grand Bell Awards (Daejong Awards) which only covers the movie industry. It’s highly prestigious but most readers here are K-drama centered so may not have watched or followed the K-movie circuit this year, but everyone has heard about Decision to Leave which took home Best Movie and male lead Park Hae Il continues his awards sweep by winning Best Actor. Yeom Jung Ah won Best Actress for Life is Beautiful, Yoona didn’t have a lot of screen time in Confidential Assignment 2 but won Best Supporting Actress, and Best Supporting Actor winner Byun Yo Han got the nod for his role in sageuk Hansan: Rising Dragon. The newbie awards went to Kim Hye Yoon for The Girl on a Bulldozer and Moo Jin Sung for the ensemble movie Perhaps Love. The outfits I only like Kim Hye Yoon despite the simplicity of her black dress it fit her beautifully and she looks so young and elegant in it. Ong Seung Woo also gets kudos for doing a waistcoat look.
I’m happy they give Kim Hye-Yoon a styling more for a age and less little girl npw. She’s really beautiful and she’s a good actress. She has so much energy and she’s so cute.
It was fun to watch Extraordinary You reunion in House on Wheel S04.
Kim Hye Yoon is so underrated. She is very pretty and a good actress. She should be a bigger star. I was disappointed when she joined Sidus after the popularity of ‘Extraordinary You’ as they are pretty bad at getting good parts for their actresses. Really glad to see her winning some awards at last! Hope this leads to some better roles for her.
Overall, the fashion here is a bit better than usual Korean award show. At least there is some colour and less bridal dresses
Park Hye-yoon is pretty but fashionwise how come you didn’t mention Park So-dam? That’s also a good one.
Not many big name actresses/actors showed up to this award show unlike Blue Dragon which was held recently. I wonder if it’s still being boycotted to some extent? Grand Bell used to be Top 3 in terms of prestige alongside Blue Dragon and Baeksang Arts, but now they have Tiktokers presenting awards, some shady paid/NFT coming, and made-up awards like New Wave and People’s Choice, which Oh Nara sort of shaded in her award speech LOL.
Kim Hye Yoon is such a beautiful lady , fresh, full of energy, and a good actress . She was the only good thing in Secret royal inspector Joy . I can portray her in many roles instead of ” beautiful actresses with pouting and bland faces” and average acting ! If we were in 2006 she would have been as perfect as Yoon Eun Hye in the role of Shin Chae Kyung . She could have been perfect as Geum jan di . Hope to see her soon with a good project and wish her the best .

I first saw her as one of the three high school bullies bullying Louis and Bok Sil in SKL. My first impression was “this girl is going to be a star someday.” So happy my instincts are proven true. Bright future for this girl. I like her energy and bright positivity.
