Official Trailer for Fantasy Romance C-drama Lost You Forever with Yang Zi, Zhang Wan Yi, Deng Wei, and Tan Jian Ci Brings All the Feels and Beats From Epic Novel

Oh boy, now I am EXCITED. Like, trying to keep my expectations low just went out to the window with the release of the full official preview for Lost You Forever, adapted from the same name novel by writer Tong Hua of Bu Bu Jing Xin fame. I’ve read the novel from the back countless times and did the translation so I know every single scene in the trailer and it’s exactly as I imagined it. The sadness, longing, grit, intensity, beauty, and multiple love lines. The new group poster goes to down as Yang Zi as Xiao Yao is wearing her red wedding dress and all four leads are also all wearing red groom attire too lol, way to hammer home Xiao Yao has all the men loving/wanting her in this drama. I can’t wait and OMG if this is as good as the preview looks it will validate every moment I spent on this novel and why I still think about it from time to time.

  1. Oh my, I reread and reread your English translation here many times too. So excited this story will come to life . I pick Jing for her.

  2. Oh man I was fighting goosebumps and knots in my stomach watching trailer!! And as much as I love Jing l, I’ve always mourned love of our 9 headed sea monster.

In the novel it was written from her perspective (except for that gut wrenching last chapter) so we could only guess as to the extents he went for her eg/ when she was asleep in the clam all those years etc I don’t think my heart can actually handle watching it played out 😭 😭 😭 I remember reading that chapter when you released if Koala, curled in bed hugging a bath towel to mop up all the teary mess! Thank you for bringing this awesome story to us all.

  3. I was not expecting the trailer to be that good! It certainly has hyped my expectations. Tencent better release it now!

  4. I loved the trailer! I also kept my expectations low because this story means so much to me and I didn’t want to be disappointed. I still remember the days of waiting for your translation releases and following the novel discussions. To say that this drama adaptation is much long awaited is an understatement. I’m glad we got a real trailer with real dialogue this time. So relieved it looks promising. If the series is as good as the trailer than this is going to be one awesome, epic ride. I cannot wait!

  5. I started to notice YZ in Ashes of Love that I enjoyed a lot. She looked fine there. Then she also displayed incredible chemistry with Xiao Zhan in the Oath of Love although I noticed her declining appearance. YZ has acting chops to depict images of complicated characters. But her looks aren’t up my alley. Yeah I admit I’m an appearance freak when it comes to the drama adaptations of which the original novels describe that the characters have ethereal beauty or loved by many. I just can’t overlook actors’ looks and simply focus on their acting to enjoy dramas.

Are there any young actresses nowadays in C-ent who possess both beauty and acting skills? There are quite a few among 85ers. But I can think of none in the younger generation! Perhaps someone can give me counterexamples.

    • Li Yitong, Dilireba, Li Qin, Bai Lu, Ju Jingyi, Sun Qian, Zhang Yuxi, Tian Xiwei, Zhao Lusi, Song Zuer, Liu Haocun, Guan Xiaotong, Zhou Ye, Wang Churan, Zhang Ruonan, Vicky Chen Wen Qi, Zhao Jinmai?

      • These younger actresses are fine. But none of them exudes the same level of onscreen charisma as Liu Shi Shi, Zhao Liying, Yang Mi, or Crystal Liu, specifically for costume dramas imo.

    • Agreed, YZ doesn’t fit the archetype for beautiful, but she’s fine to look at. Like you won’t find her looks disturbing or ugly. Just not pretty. More like girl-next-door average. However her weight has been seesawing and it’s showing up in her looks. She just seems worn out and older

    • That being said, I will check out this drama once it’s premiered given Koala’s recommendation of the original novel. Tbh, I’m not a fan of Tong Hua mainly because I’m not a fan of bad ending. I read the Chinese novel “Love Yunge From the Desert” (Yun Zong Ge) and it gave me a heartbreak. Same for the other two drama adaptations when I watched them. Hate hopelessly sad endings! Now that Lost You Forever was said to have a happy ending, I can give it a shot. Lol

      • Just bear in mind that true to Tong Hua’s style, like in Ballad of the dessert, even if she gives you a HE you’re gonna have to lose some skin and tears along the way.. and with at least 3 Ships waiting to set sail in this, HE only depends on which ship you initially picked.

      • @SuperLatte, that actually piques my interest. I’m no fan of either actor nor YZ anyway. That should take some stress of disappointment off me. Lol

  6. When the main role is YZ it means it’s good – the story, the romance with comedy. YZ is verstile and can make us the viewer cry, laugh and happy 🙂 Fighting YZ and the whole casts:-)
