Jo Jung Seok and Shin Se Kyung Confirmed for Sageuk Romance and Intrigue tvN K-drama
The 2024 slate of K-dramas continue to bubble to the surface now that we’re at the end of 2023 and a big sageuk on deck next year will be tvN drama Sejak (meaning Spy). It’s totally a hate-love type of twisted romance with the King and the woman who tries to seduce him for revenge but ends up falling in love. Jo Jung Seok and Shin Se Kyung are cast as the leads and I totally thought these two have worked together before but this will be a first time here. The drama is from the screenwriter of The Crowned Clown and the PD of Untouchable and The Good Detective. The supporting leads are also confirmed as Lee Sin Young and Park Ye Young.
I hope the end will be better than in The Crowned Clown. It was perfect until she screwed the end >_<
Jo Jung-Seok is a great actor and he's good in every style. Shin Se-Kyung didn't immpress me in Arthdal Chronicles 2. She didn't have chemistry with her costars, but it was the same for LJG.
Not super excited about the leads (I do NOT hate either of them, they just have never been my favorites), but the plot is totally right up my alley! I dig angsty love stories so much, so I’ll definitely check this out! Plus, I think SSK is way better in sageuks than in modern dramas for some reason
I agree, she was quie good in arthdal
I’m with you about liking the premise but not the leads as a pair. No issues with shin se kyung per se, I know she will deliver because it’s a sageuk, but, and i hope i don’t offend jo jung suk fans, but i wish they’ve cast someone hotter. and by that i don’t particularly mean someone super handsome, but more like someone with sex appeal and intensity on screen. Jo jung suk is a good actor, but he’s always come across as goofy to me, and this drama sounds like it’s supposed to have leads with hot chemistry lol. I wish they’ve gotten an actor with similar vibes to a young jo in sung. But i’ll still check out the first episode
Plot sounds fun but not with this as the romantic pair. It’s such a weird pairing and I can’t see them having much chemistry – definitely not the type of electric chemistry this kind of plot needs
