This is an interesting drama to dissect because there are clearly so much elements at play. Modern workplace romance C-drama Only for Love with Bai Lu and Dylan Wang finished airing this week and a happy ending did nothing to help this drama elevate it’s uniformly bad reviews. I think even Dylan fans just stayed quiet because trying to compliment this nothingburger is a futile effort, it’s better to just let it pass on by and wait for a better project ahead. What’s interesting is that insiders are saying this drama made money for the production and no industry honchos are blaming the two leads for the bad reviews, hence this will have no impact on their continued cast-ability and popularity. I thought the script and direction was beyond terribly but the two leads also didn’t showcase strong chemistry or do anything to help make this more palatable.
Dylan famously tried to back out of this drama after LBFAD became a hit last July, because he took on the project before LBFAD aired and whatever role or wages he got was probably less than what he can get after LBFAD but YuZheng scolded Dylan and his agent on Weibo for trying to break contract.
Guess we now know why.

This drama is still on-going in US so I’m glad to read about the happy ending. I really like happy endings! However. I really don’t get the bad reviews even if they were correct regarding the chemistry. I still looked forward for each episode to upload.

Well, the series was frustrating. But that’s how the script was written. Not everything can be a hit I guess.
I don’t know why people said this drama is bad, it is not. Is a romcom and I find it entertaining just to watch how the ML and the FL get together. though the break up part was a draggy. It can be shorten and add more sweet scenes because it got rush a lot in the end and it made the drama not fully develop and audience wise satisfy. There shouldn’t have a special episode with the wedding. The wedding should be able to put into the series to make the audience feel happy when watching a happy ending series.
Regardless, Dylan is just so handsome and likable and I find BaiLu adorable and pretty as well. Their visuals was amazing and perfect. They match each other very well and the chemistry was there. It wasn’t intense but that of cute and compatible chemistry which I like. I hope for another cooperation between them and I don’t care if it an another modern drama or period one. LOVE THEM BOTH

I’m in agreement…I am watching from the US and am still waiting on episodes to drop. The story line is at best weak. (My husband is interested in the solid state EV battery story line bc he works in the automotive industry) but with that Bai Lu’s character is frustrating for me to watch (how she continuously does not speak what she is feeling. However, I appreciated her characters styling choices. Wang He Di continues to improve in his acting skills. Overall, I don’t really understand all of the “hate” that this drama is receiving. I don’t understand why people are obsessed with Dylan’s dubbing. I just think that people who want to criticize and complain will. Esther Yu’s voice drove me crazy in LBFAD so much so that I can’t even watch her in anything anymore. But I never thought about complaining on boards about it until now…so…To each his own.
Well I agree with you Bai lu act more natural and charming for me, she is good in every drama and all her male leads have good chemistry with her because her sweet and adorable personality, she is quite playful even on the set, no awkward moment with her co star.. I don’t have hate towards ester yu but i do agree with you about her voice kinda…. Hahaha

Horrible all around. Lack of story, drags, ost/instruments, fashions equals waste of our time. Nothing to brag about. People complain about kdrama drags w/ 16-20ep, Cdrama still need to improve.
I like Dylan Wang in most dramas. This drama moved slow but I looked forward to the next episode.

The bad review made by netizen, dont believe in their review or douban rating. They have mafia, and try to extort money from the production team, if they get money, they quiet, but then after few episodes they back again and ask for more money.Just use logic, how can the drama that is so popular and generate good traffic (being watched by so many people) and generate good money is bad? It is rank 2 behind The Kunning Palace another drama with Bai Lu that break record (they try to attack this one too but failed). So don’t let the review influence you , just watch with open mind and see by yourself

Dropped in episode 3. I love Wang Hedi but it was too slow to show any type of progression & emotion. And yes I tried, just it was all about work in the beginning and I need a break from work as it is. Both looked amazing as always, that was the best for me

The reason why Dylan and Bai Lu’s careers were unscathed is because they were THE reason to watch Only for Love! They had amazing chemistry and did a great job in their roles, especially Dylan. The criticisms about his dubbing/voice were over the top, his voice sounds fine! This drama is not meant to be profound or life changing. It’s a slow burn rom com…the reviews are too harsh imo. If people just watched it as a fluff piece to pass the time they wouldn’t be hating on it so much. The only faults lie with the horrible director and scriptwriter, which is something the actors themselves cannot control.
Hello, I’m finishing watching Only For Love, I loved it!!! The performance of Dilan Wang and Bai Lu was excellent, the chemistry between them I loved it for me, their score is 100% they did a great job.I hope to see them both Collaborating in another project .👍

Dylan just won IQIYI Scream King the other night and his red carpet was in the top 3 most viewed out of all the celebs attending so I think he’s doing just fine.

You do realise those aren’t real awards, right? It’s just platforms rewarding the actors that worked for them provided they want to come to the ceremony.
If he was doing so great, he would be doing well in actual data and he isn’t. You can check yourself. He is currently in 16th place with 0.1% of votes. You can also check what happened last year.
I almost finished the drama for those who dropped it and not continue to watch I think you will regret it hehe, for me it’s worth to watch fill boring if you don’t understand the whole process of every episode the story line is quite good and the chemistry of Dylan and Bai Lu is perfect i can give 100% the infinite scene is between Dylan and Bai Lu is make the viewers hurt flutter, never mind those haters the drama still number one international fans , only for love I’ve watch it again and again specially from episode 30 to 36 when they we’re reconcile and back each other again they both love each other, Dylan confessed Bai Lu after their wedding in special episode, she has a crush on her the first time she saw when Bai lu got an award.

Dylan’s Wechat index was #1 out of all male celebs on IQIYI Scream Night, which means he was the most talked about male artist at the event. Also since you seem to only care about Weibo, he had multiple trending topics that night on Weibo, as well as Kuaishou, Douyin and other platforms. Seems to me like you want him to flop. Weibo Night is a ways away and his fans might be focusing on data for Only for Love at the moment.

It’s good data because he had results last year, really good results, if you are not too lazy to go back and look but this year, there has been a significant drop. This thing is a very good indicator because it is solely fan effort and it’s the same list as last year. As I told you, go look at it yourself and you will see the change.
Focusing on Only for Love has nothing to do with this because voting for actors is separate from characters and separate from dramas. I invite you to go look at those rankings too.

Love the drama and the original story. Bailu and Dylan made a great couple.

I think because the douban give their rating at 4.8 but they are wrong they are the highes rates. So congrats Bai lu and Dylan Wang. While the leads are lovely, there was no plot and the couple seemed to have been directed to look annoyed with each other throughout. I’m so annoyed that I didn’t drop it. I kept thinking it would improve.

Good romcom. I wasn’t sure of the pairing in the beginning due to 4 years age gap. But DW $ BL didn’t disappoint me. Dylan looks more matured than his real age of 24. Bai Lu looks incredible as always. Chemistry superb. Acting top notch even amongst the support actors. Kissing & bed scenes – 🔥🔥🔥. on my rewatch list for certain

I work too much to binge but with what I’ve seen so far is typical office romcom and not bad but I love Dylan Wang and Bai Lu so it’s going to be tough to disappoint me but I’ll continue watching and give another review afterwards

I really thought it was a very good drama and all the actors and actresses did a fantastic job.
Absolutely not the actors but the plot that was lacking of any real substance. That’s why people are being quiet. We know it’s not the actors even though it’s true the chemistry was not there with the two leads. Even with a “happy ending” it just fell flat and odd.
Bailu is an awesome and versatile actress. Love her in most of the shows I have seen her perform. Didi is is growing as experience carries him further and he is building his craft. He is not just a handsome face but a talented young man. Their chemistry is palpable on and off camera. You can see they feed off each other and rely on each other too. The script could have been shortened and better written because it was frustrating at times. I am still looking forward to episode 35 since I am in the US. But to say that it was a bad show no, it could have been summarized in less than 36 episodes than prolonging it screenwriters.
I really don’t get the hate for this drama. I find it extremely funny, I like the leads and the side characters. I’m not sure why this show is getting poor reviews. I loved it. It had a cute plot, and Dylan Wang was very likeable in it. He is very handsome, and has a very attractive voice.
Unfortunately, this drama is horribly written with great actors. Some of the things that happened in this drama made no sense at all and Bai Lu’s character was not consistent in being a smart, confident,intelligent woman. Just not written well at all.
I haven’t done watching the all episodes but so far I should say Bailu’s character on this romcom drama is suitable for her as we know how good she is no matter what character you put her on and I find she did a good job with her acting and for Dylan although I am not a big fan of him but I appreciate him as an actor and his roke being a col and domineering CEO fit to him as well..I don’t know why some people think that he doesn’t know how to act!? Frankly speaking he’s pretty good! The chemistry between the two of them will bring you to the extreme point that you will allow yourself to feel inlove, wish that someday somehow something like this romcom drama will happen in real life..

The actors were professional and as talented as always. Sometimes the script is so bad even these extremely good actors have a hard time with the story. Bai Lu, Dylan Wang did as good of a job as they could with the materials they had to work with.
The show left a lotttttt to desired both leads had no personality and were very immature and undecided could not talk or express their feelings and emotions personalities were dull and boring ass hell I am currently in episode 18 however they are still playing hard to get the women had to do the chasing in this Drama which is.
