C-netizens Have Spoken and Sweet Home 2 Opens to 5.5 Douban Ratings a Steep Drop From Season 1 Getting 7.8
Sigh, another cautionary tale of don’t try to do bigger and badder. Sweet Home 2 was released last week on Netflix and the opening ratings by C-viewers on Douban is a low 5.5. Not as woeful as true turkeys like Fireworks of My Heart with 2.8 or Gentlemen of East 8th at 2.1 but still this is a drastic drop from the well-received first season which sits at 7.8 The original webtoon ended the story where the first season ended so this is all new made up storylines for SH2 and there is also a Sweet Home 3 that is teased at the end of 2 and also confirmed by Netflix that the sequels were filmed and produced together. K-netizens are also giving SH2 bad reviews and are comparing this to the decision to make Peninsula as the sequel to Train to Busan which also felt like more action and less character development or heart.
I haven’t watched yet so no personal opinion, but the reviews from others does seem to be basically meh. I heard Netflix greenlit a third season so it must have made them happy at least. With Song Kang going into the military, I guess he wouldn’t be in it.
It says in the article that sequels 2 & 3 were filmed and produced together, so he will likely be in it.
Squid game 2 will probably also be bigger but not better aswell.

Mother monster baby monster scene was heartbreaking. But that is how war crimes are. One country’s hero is other country’s terrorist
Yeah. Completely agree with you. That was senseless killing. Very sad.
