The just ended xianxia drama Sword and Fairy based on the Chinese Paladin 6 game was a flop but female lead Yu Shu Xin already has her next xianxia on deck. She’s filmed the C-drama adaptation of The Guide to Capturing a Black Lotus titled Yong Ye Xing He with male lead Ding Yu Xi and the drama recently released a bunch of stills. Ding Yu Xi’s visuals are not my cup of tea but he actually looks good here, definitely better than his other period looks prior. Same with Yu Shu Xin, her hair and costume for this drama is really cute and way better than the looks she was addled with in Sword and Fairy though the drama was limited to mirroring the game character costumes.

Visuals are insignificant if the drama is good enough and I don't have any problems with Ding Yuxi even I haven't really enjoy any of his dramas since Romance Between Tiger And Rose and Moonlight, the later which also stars Yu Shu Xin.
I don't have much expectations for this or infact any other C-dramas recently as they've been disappointing to say the least.
I hope this one is good though.
She can't act. The only relevant thing.
Glad someone is honest.
Nobody is tired of her yet? LOL
She should stop talking in her baby voice...
I have no prob with their acting. I enjoyed watching them together in their previous drama. Hope to see the same chemistry in this. But the story is the key. I just cant with bad storyline.
Same. Her baby voice and facial expressions are like nails in a chalk board. She could do better acting but it is like that is her autopilot.
Ahh so excited!! The stills are so colorful and the cast is top notch. When the heck will this air!
While I'm also not a fan of Ryan Ding's visual and sorta annoyed because he's paired up with Esther before, I know he can carry a drama. Plus with their familiarity, it might boost their onscreen chemistry more.
I still kinda wish it was Ao Rui Peng as the dark bellied ML, but eh. It's already a done deal
The novel is really good so as long it has decent acting and visuals this will work.
She can act, you should see her in my journey to you and ding yu Xi is also a good actor, have you watched love you seven times
You are all really missing a lot
Hey, so I know some folks out there say Esther Yu uses a baby voice when she acts. But think about it, actors have all sorts of tricks up their sleeves to make their characters feel real. Esther might be using that voice to give her characters a certain vibe, you know? Like, it could be part of her artistic choice to really get into the role. And let's not forget, Esther's got range! She's tackled all kinds of characters, and her fans love her for it. Sure, not everyone's gonna vibe with her style, but you can't deny she's left her mark in the entertainment biz. Her fans? They're ride-or-die for a reason—they see something special in her performances.
