The year is half over now that it’s June 2024 and one big name in C-drama land I’ve not yet seen out with a drama is Dylan Wang. Last year in 2023 he had three C-dramas, not to say any of those were good lol but at least there was stuff to watch. He’s usually done 2-3 per year but this year it will only be period C-drama Guardians of the Dafeng. It’s being reported that Tencent is scheduling it for September 2024 to kick off early Fall programming as top promoted drama. His female lead Tian Xi Wei is also banking big on this drama to lift her another rung up the actress chain and also more thoroughly cement her real life image change from cute girl-next-door to cool girl siren type. I think the biggest unknown for this drama is how slapstick is was in the first trailer and whether it can balance so many strong elements (justice fighting, romance, comedy) well.

Isn't he also in a police drama this year?
I was thinking about him recently too. I enjoying watch him in variety shows..some of his dramas are okay.
Good to hear update.
I'm really looking forward to this. His next drama with Pan Yueming looks good too, his career path is looking very promising now.
Is this his original voice? Because that alone is enough comedy.
Lets hear your voice hm?
What a weird thing to say.
The person above isn't an actor or actress. If they were, then their way of speaking would have to be up to par as well.
He has major issues with his accent and his voice. As a leading man, that's a problem. Making silly quips won't suddenly make him decent in this area.
I burst into laugh. LOL.
I thought she did well in both Lovely Us and Wrong Carriage, Right Groom. It will be interesting to see how she does with this one.
I like her in New life begins, but that Wrong Carriage, Right Groom was one of the worst drama I've watched.
I didn't like the Drama, it was a huge waste of potential, but I liked her performance in it. I felt she was ill-served by poor writing, but still made me care about her character.
Yes. That wrong carriage, right groom had so much potential I just cannot pinpoint where it was lacking. But New Life Begins is a really good drama!
Apparently the team behind it is the same as Joy Of Life's
September that long way to go I thought they drop this month or next month
I am a bit late but I started watching the very good 'New Life Begins' and I am really liking Tian Xi Wei in this. I think she brings a lot of depth and likeability to to her character where a lesser actress would have played Li Wei as an airheaded glutton (she isn't but I feel like certain other actresses would miss the nuances of the role at the beginning of her story)
She is talented and I also like to see that she is actively trying to take some control in her career and her image and be more selective. It seems like so many C-actors are just at the mercy of whatever drama their agency tells them they have to do and just end up filming all kinds of rubbish that they probably wouldn't choose if they had a choice.
Dylan Wang has come so far. Honestly, I didn't think he would have much longevity after that Boys Over Flowers remake but he has truly surprised me.
I like Dylan and indifferent to TXW. Nonetheless, I wasn't able to finish any of their dramas. LOL. Will check out this one.
This drama is based off a hit novel/manhua? So it has a large fan base already, which means they're off to a good start. Should be a big ratings boom
