Tencent Announces July 8, 2024 Premiere of Lost You Forever Part 2 with Yang Zi, Zhang Wan Yi, Deng Wei, and Tan Jian Ci

Am I ready to say goodbye to Lost You Forever and all the rich and multi-faceted characters that reside in the Vast Wilderness? Yes, I actually am, what with it being over ten years since I started the herculean task of translating the novel (three book in length) and with the conclusion of Lost You Forever with Part 2 coming out in two weeks I think it’s the right time to put these beloved characters to bed. Tencent kicked off this week with the announcement that LYF Part 2 will premiere on July 8th, nearly a year since Part 1 aired to great success last summer. Yang Zi returns as Xiao Yao just wanting her simply happy ending with a guy who will never leave her, Zhang Wan Yi finding that it’s easier to win a Kingdom than to show functional love to (and get the love of) the only woman he loves, Deng Wei is back to continue being the nicest nice guy who ever niced (and smart too!), and Tan Jian Ci is still determined to die for loyalty but not before he gets his girl the guy who will take care of her when he’s not around (talk about balancing priorities demon style). See, who says this story doesn’t have a happy ending when all is said and done. But first, talk to me later when I’m done crying another round of tears for the greatest love story that was and could never be. Since y’all love Xiang Liu madly from Part 1, get ready to love him EXPONENTIALLY MORE, just a reminder from your friendly neighborhood Koala.

  2. Mwahahaa my plan worked. Now I will finish S1. It’s crazy how time flies! Now I can binge S1 and catch up as you guys are suffering with the release of new S2 episodes.

Genius mind I tell you, genius

  3. Multi-faceted? Except for the demon snake, I found them predictable. I know it’s an adaptation but C-writers alone don’t know how to write characters most of the time. I’ve seen 50 well-know C-dramas and there a few characters with depth and dimensions. I like the plot of this xianxia tough.

    • lol at the shipping wars.

if anything the shipping wars kind off spoilt my enjoyment of the drama, both teams are sure XY only loved one man when its evident she loved both, but chose one.

the drama also portraying both guys as rivals instead of the mutual respect they had for each other in the books doesn’t help.

Anyway, production is good but still pales in comparison to the books.

  4. Xiang Liu.
Or just being single and find the new man tho.

All those 3 men are red flags. Lol
(Of course, in my eyes, XL is the better choice, still)

Anyways… i cant wait for the season 2. Pleaseeee be as good as the first one.

  5. OMG that trailer was really dramatic
I hope P2 will deliver and not disappoint
I hope they don’t cut any episodes
I hope they don’t make it like a one-sided love for XY/XL, like they did in P1. If anyone didn’t read the novel, the drama portray XY only love TSJ and not XL.
I hope they do justice for CX.

  6. The Princess Royal – 6/26
As Beautiful As You – 7/2
    Lost You Forever 2 – 7/8

July is going to be a good month for cdrama addicts! Plus new trailers released for Love on the Turquoise Island, Guide to Capturing A Black Lotus, Reborn and Ski Into Love all look good!

    • woah..so many drama coming…glad in June I have the DOuble…as much as I like Luo Yun Xi and Song Yi, but I have to admit that Follow your heart is too slow and something feels missing..the actors already deliver good actings..i dunno maybe the writing is not captivating enough..I fall asleep when watching the episode..but will keep trying watching just for the actors..
waiting for Princess Royal and Lost you forever…

    • I’m interested in The Princess Royal, the plot sounds interesting. Also looking forward to As Beautiful As You for my girl Tan Songyun.

  7. If I am in my 20 or 30s..maybe I will like Xiang Liu character…tsundere type of man…but because I am already in my 40s..my heart is definitely agree with Xiao Yao..woman needs some one that would like to be with us until old and leave peacefully…with little drama in our relationship hehehehe

    • If I was in my 40s I wouldn’t choose someone that is engaged. Can’t deal with his own family drama. Doesn’t call me for months and leave me to get beaten up. Nope, probably go in the bushes
, deep in the cave to find myself an obedient rabbit demon.

      • Preach!

I felt bad for Xiao Yao, not realizing she was being made into “the other woman” kept in secret, while Tushan Jing’s fiancee was living in his house.

  8. Yay, yay, yay! Feels like it has been forever! Love this show! So glad the second season is finally coming out!🎉🥳🎉

  9. Lol, let the shipping wars begin.

I remember it was this novel translation that got me followimg this blog. And it holds a special place in my heart.

Only thing spoiling the drama for me is the constant brainless shipping wars. Both sides seem to insist she only loved one person, when it’s evident she loved both men and chose one. The drama not capturing the mutual respect both men had for each other in the books also doesn’t help.

Not sure If I’d follow season 2, but i can promise viewers a wild emotional ride if they stick to the books.

  10. Do we all think that the show producers and writers will surprise us at the end and she will be together with the 9 headed demon. I very much hope so because there relationship was like fire works from the get go . I really can’t see them going from the book and killing him of . Imagine how many viewers they would lose if this happens .

  11. If they had shown the part 2 back to back or at most a few months after Season 1 premiered, I would have been hard pressed to watch it. Now my interest has cooled in the wake of so many spoilers. I know what Season 2 will bring and I’m not looking forward to more pain and anguish. I may just read the spoilers and avoid this, though it’s such a beautifully acted and crafted drama. I’m really p*ssed off at the censorship board incomprehensible rules!

  12. It’s been a long time for me too and you, Koala, was what started it all for me.

    XIANG LIU FOREVER!

Over the years, I’ve reread and rewritten that ending dozens of times to MY happy ending, not the book/drama one. Because the only who deserved a happy ending was Xiang Liu.

Thank you, Koala, for your wonderful work and introducing me to this unforgettable character. However, I never read another novel by this author because they tell me she loves this kind of ending. Bah.

  13. Anyone one who’s read the novel are well aware of the heart break that’s to come. XL is such a complex character and is the only character that has a positive character growth.

Thank you Koala for your years of hard work! I found your blog in 2016…2 years after you started your translation journey of this wonderful novel and have followed your blog ever since. I’ve read your translation a total of 4 time since the completion.
