Yu Zheng Rips into Wang Xing Yue’s Production Office After It Releases Video Showing the Original Ending of The Double was His Character Dying in Battle

Well this is a snitty little brouhaha but ultimately nothing that wasn’t already bandied about. Over the weekend The Double male lead Wang Xing Yue‘s personal production office (i.e. his team) released a video of the drama that showed the original ending was his character Xiao Heng dying in battle. The sad ending of The Double was long rumored and the happy ending epilogue was reportedly filmed last minute after the drama premiered and was popular and the feedback was that fans would not accept a sad ending. It does make sense as there was no way in hell Xiao Heng was getting out of that battle alive haha but this drama didn’t need a sad ending either so I was fine with the last minute change up. Producer Yu Zheng is reportedly so mad at Wang Xing Yue’s team for releasing the sad ending video and he announced he was going to fire the whole lot of team for disrespecting the integrity of his drama. The reason for the release is reportedly Wang Xing Yue’s team getting into fights with CP shippers so revealing the sad ending was a way to pour cold water on the CP shipping.

  2. I have not read the final chapters of the novel coz it’s not translated yet… I recall the novel had a happy ending. It’s a good thing Yu Zheng stayed sane and didn’t air the sad ending.

    • A sad ending would not help him to continue to milk the cow. LOL. I just hope there won’t be a special called, for example, “The Double: Next Generation Adventures” like what happened with Story Of Yanxi Palace. LOL.

    • I caught up with the novel yesterday and there are certainly some events that have more coherence. But definitely the censorship in China would not let them go unnoticed.

  3. Oh so this is the scandal someone mentioned before in another post, lmao…

Who cares… as long as he doest get involved in tax scandal, prostitution, abortion, human trafficking, dating a minor, affair, drugs or killing someone, i dont care.

Anywaayyyss, it’s so wrong to post something like this. CP thing again and again, aiyaaa, it’s not like they really date each other. If he has a good chemistry with his next co star in his next project, people will change the CP.

I dont mind a sad ending, goodbye my princess is an example. But for the double, duh, i just cant. Xiao Heng deserves the happy ending.

    • It was his confused fan @SCHI who mentioned it. She claims to detest Wang Xing Yue but is the number one to know news related to him. LOL. @SCHI has him on her mind 24/7 because she even mentions him in posts unrelated to him. LOL.

I am also unaffected by his “scandal” as long as it is not a legit crime.

    • No, his studio posting this alternate ending started a whole series of rumors/hot searches on Weibo. There was one about him dating some costars, then it was him using female celebs to promote CPs/be more famous, then it was him faking his age, then someone hacked into his alleged taobao account and accused him of buying lingerie for his gf (why this is even a scandal is beyond me), then right now there’s rumors about his family/him using some government funds when they shouldn’t have. And this all happened in like two days, so his name was on the hot search every hour of the day. Long story short, WXY did not have a good weekend.

  4. Lol his fans have been attacking the FL since the start, trying to drag her down because they wanted to transfer all the hype onto him. It was vile. This is just more of the same attempts to focus what success drama had solely on him by tearing the CP they encouraged and then scooping up all those fans for him.

Yu Zheng wouldn’t have said anything about this if it hadn’t backfired, against their wishes. This is just him trying to clean up a little. WXY has already been caught repeatedly buying major water.

In the end, he is just like all the other nugus who caught a whiff of popularity and lost his head thinking he can do whatever he wants.

    • Share your sources and evidence. In your comments you always accuse different artists, but there is never any information of what you mention. LOL. Last time you accused Xiao Zhan of buying negative comments to attack Zhang Jingyi, didn’t you? LMAO.

It is true that there are fans of him who have been attacking Wu Jinyan. No fandom is free from hateful people. LOL.

Accusations such as yours are generally a none factor. LOL.

      • Lol these aren’t “accusations”.

CP fans purification is a well known practice in cent. Almost all sides of well known CP try it, sooner or later. This was his, inept, attempt and YZ is trying to clean up the situation because he f up.

As for water, he has been caught because cnetz know all their tricks by now. He is coming after the great water kings Cheng Yi, Gong Jun and Deng Wei. After learning from these three, none of these nugus can do something and not be caught. Tough luck I guess.

      • @CP LOL. If they aren’t, where is the proof? Oh, no!😰Magically the so-called evidence is gone now. LMAO. C-netz always saves screen shots, screen records, web archives. But now it turns they don’t how to do it. LOL.

You wrote the same thing when I asked you about Xiao Zhan. LOL.

      • @Nope @CP He could easily wash the negativity away if CP fans or his’ can erase the trace, hahaha!

      • @Lyss

You have screenshots all over Douban groups. He got mocked for it and they moved on because no matter how hard you cry, the guy is just a nugu whose agency is dropping the ball on what little fame he managed to get through this drama.

If I were you, I would be more worried about that. If they can’t handle this level of fame without messing up so badly then he is done for. Cent is cruel.

      • @CP Crying? LOL. I’m pretty amused about it, but if want to fantasy about me crying, I’ll let you be because it won’t affect your mental gymnastics. LOL, why didn’t you just say they were on Douban groups? It was easy. LOL. I only asked a few questions and now you are acting like I am his fan. LOL. 1). “The guy is just a nugu”. 2). “If they can’t hadle this level of fame”. LMAO. A nugu could not have fame, you should at least, order your ideas. LOL. He is just a rising actor, nothing more nothing less.

      • @CP i don’t know much about wang xing yue but antifans can actually buy water for the artist(s) they dislike. and then they can accuse them for it. i remember when sean xiao joined instagram, there were a lot of empty and new accounts with strange usernames following him. and when he posted his first photo, there were comments that were quickly accusing him of buying fake followers. there are pages in which you only need to write the username and pay. in china it should be more easy.

i’m checking douban but can’t find anything. there are even users mocking him because his skin used to be paler. can you help me with a link?

    • His fans have also been attacking him so we could say that the two are evenly matched😂. Wang Xing Yue’s name is evidently better known now, I doubt he needs to buy water when his work on The Double is what made him rise in popularity. Otherwise, he could have done it easily before. I would also like to know your evidence or source. Defamations are also vile attacks.

    • @Nope Your writing is similar to user @Schi. Why is nugu used negatively when even the most popular names in C-Ent started that way?

There are even wonderful actors like Fang Yilun and Zhao Yingzi, who despite their talent superior to certain liuliangs, they are underrated. If buying water were the solution, they would have become more popular by now.

  5. For him to have died in the battle at the end would have been logical. Wen Ji was pierced by multiple arrows, the enemies should have had no difficulty moving their arms and aiming at Xiao Heng. But since he had plot armor, the enemies preferred to be busy contemplating how sexy he looked holding Xue Li’s jade in his mouth😂

    • I haven’t watched the drama yet but the jade in the mouth comment you made sounds intriguingly weird. lol so many dramas that have been praised from here to kingdom come and I said I’d watch them but at the end of the day just feel so lazy to try. One day I will just not sure when that will be 🙃

    • @Drea @Somebody @Rero LOL. I think the reason why Xiao Heng bit the jade pendant given to him by Xue Fangfei was because he was afraid that after his possible death, his head would be chopped off by the enemy and he would be separated from the jade pendant.

      • Also in the novel, the jade was returned to Xue Fang Fei when Xiao Heng/his body went missing. She refused to believe he was dead and kept waiting. So actually that bloody shot could’ve still worked with the story IF they just had a shot of them hugging by the tree.

  6. I’m not familiar with the intricacies of Chinese fandom wars so I won’t comment on that, but I wonder what bothered YZ so much he decided to reshoot the ending. In the Ye Olden Days his entire MO was to get to get both fans of the original IPs and of his adaptations absolutely berserk with his shenanigans. Fans were angry, actors got hate, and he got all the publicity in the world. Changing a HE to OE/SE would be the least of his shenanigans. So, what changed? I don’t get it.

    • Yu Zheng is upset because he had previously said that The Double had been recorded with a happy ending, but we can see that it was not. A

      • Exactly he was the one who filmed that ending but he decided to give up on it after the success and cash that was pouring on his a$$.

  7. The delusions of grandeur with “Disrespecting the integrity of his drama”, YZ is wild. CP fans having a meltdown because his studio released that is soo ridiculous and shows you how insane these chronically online fans are. And now with all the nonstop drama with WXY’s private life on Weibo, I feel for the guy. It’s not easy to gain popularity in the entertainment industry and just when he gets a little glimpse, there’s suddenly a major invasion of privacy. Gossip is so easy to spread, whether it’s true or not, it doesn’t matter, it’s out there. It doesn’t help that the industry is so competitive, others will tear these actors down.

  8. Loool! Wang Xing Yue has gained millions of fans thanks to The Double. He has had enough of the benefits of CP fans, so why his studio wants to turn the table over and backstab them? Looooool! How can a 22-year-old man not know anything? He’s not a kid. Looool! It reminded me of the Xiao Zhan’s 227 incident because it was caused by himself and then he wanted to play the victim too looool! Only idiots feel sorry for these two annoying actors!!!

    • @SCHI LOL. Since you failed to get the results you expected with your deranged comments towards Wang Xing Yue, you are now selecting a bigger name like gorgeous Xiao Zhan. LOL. You shouldn’t feel useless, let me console you by saying that your comments made me laugh. See? You are not a complete good-for-nothing. LOL.

    • LOL. Since your deranged comments towards Wang Xingyue didn’t have the result you expected, now you want to select a bigger name like gorgeous Xiao Zhan. LOL. Don’t you get tired of it being a joke? Lol.

      • I was actually looking through the comment section for this clown to pop up. Here we are! Quite a circus show! LMAO.

  9. I don’t know if his studio really did it behind his back, but it’s a stupid move considering The Double ended recently. And there are so many types of fans: drama fans, CP fans, characters fans, artists fans. For artist studios, the most valuable ones are the artist fans. But after a drama is broadcast, how to attract more fans from so many types of fans? Well, using “purification”, that is, from the above-mentioned fans, through various techniques to “extract” the fans who purely like their own artists. I think the staff of Wang Xingyue’s studio suspected that they hoped to “purify” more fans by releasing the clips.

I could be completely wrong but these are just ideas that came to me.

  10. According to the information released by Yu Zheng, I think Wang Xingyue’s studio hoped to “purify” fans by releasing “artist’s performance highlights” such as character damage. LOL. Well, with more autentic fans, one can increase one’s market competitiveness. In the Internet age, there are too many commercial projects and even film and television works. LOL. One of the important measurement indicators is not the actor’s acting skills, but data, such as the number of fans, sales data, conversion rate, Weibo forwarding volume, comment data, etc. LOL.

  11. As if “death” is a real threat in Chinese dramaland. Lol. Death and resurrection go hand in hand in C-dramas. Always coming in clutch with a last ditch revival 🤝

    • that’s true. like what kind of weird murderous husband who dug a deep hole would bury his wife so close to the surface and with her head sticking out so she could survive like that 🤣

  12. Chinese Directors and producers and their love for sad and “leave it to imagination” endings but they still wanna milk the fans who want a satisfying ending.
why is he getting mad when he was the one who filmed the ending to fulfill their so-called art, so hypocritic

  13. It’s obvious to anyone with a brain that he was set up to die in that battle scene. But CP shippers can ship away with the epilogue.

No harm done in releasing the alternative ending this late in the game. Most people have watched the epilogue and those who want to believe it ended happily can do so.

I don’t fault WXY production team. The man is moving on to other projects and delulu shippers can make things difficult for him if he has to release another romantic teamed drama.

      • If brain was supposed to be used for watching this drama, you could also say it was obvious that xff was set up to die in that grave in the first episode ( considering how say the other girl died of beating). So I don’t think using logic to evaluate the ending ( with that beginning in mind) is appliable in this case.

      • @Helin LOL. We can also point up all the plot holes since the first episode. It doesn’t change the fact that Duke Su living at the end was unrealistic. LOL.

      • It doesn’t matter Duke Su was alive or not at the end. All that matters is WXY did nail the role and therefore his rising popularity.

Ending doesn’t matter that much to most fans who like a drama and the characters. The Untamed changed the happy ending to an open ending. So did The Longest Promise. I like the ending of the Untamed but dislike that of the Longest Promise. Regardless, enjoyed watching these two dramas because of Xiao Zhan. Same for The Double. I enjoyed binging the Double without skipping any scenes since I’m fond of the directing and the acting overall. WXY’s charm is there undeniable regardless of whether he died or not at the end. LOL. SCHI is gonna mad again. LOL.

      • @Somebody It does matters for those who particularly like the CP and the plot. That’s one of the reasons they’re mad at his studio. LOL. Netizens right now don’t care if he did nail the role or not. His charm has nothing to do with the ending but there are legit questions about what if he has died and what would happen with the hopes for his kingdom. LOL. These aspects are fragile if I dissect them. That’s why endings are important in productions like The Double, where the main characters have risked all in order to get justice.

  14. For as much as I know, many dramas and movies shoot different scenes for alternative scenarios, and then choose how to put it toghether in the editing stage. That must have been the case here alsl. Both endings were probably into consideration and one was ultimately chosen. I don’t think anywhich can be considered as ‘original’, just alternatives
And about this whole ‘issue’..kinda ironic how things get big in entertainment industries…

  15. Even if there was no added ending, it was still a happy ending. On the hill where the tree is blooming, the ML is riding up towards the FL. The bts showed WXY filming this riding scene while she was standing on the hill and she said I see him.

    • @Jetsu No, LOL. The ending you are describing is actually the added one. They original one contains scenes of Duke Su dying in battle.

  16. I enjoyed the novel and will just stick to that end. Yu Zheng is understandable annoyed if the production company did released video against his will. But as with many dramas…producers are filming different endings… then they will decide which is best based on public interest. Thsi is so common now. I would not say Yu Zheng is lying for saying this drama has happy ending but he filmed Xiao Heng dead.. He clearly filmed different things and then edit to use what is best.

Anyway, no point going against Yu Zheng…it will surprised me Wang Xing Yue’s team would do that. It is just bad management. Just as the other actor from Hidden Love whose team harm his image so much with their greed and stupidity.

  17. I have a legitimate question because I’m getting confused by all this finger pointing. I thought WXY is managed by Huanyu, which is owned by Yu Zheng. So even if WXY has his own studio, isn’t it still under Huanyu?

I honestly appreciated they released that clip because I think that makes so much more sense based on his situation at the border. I love happy endings, but I had to throw all logic out the door for this drama. I really enjoyed it nonetheless. Most addicting watch for me to date.

    • So far I know, each artist in Huanyu Ent has their own team to help to manage them but we can already see that they are certainly not obedient. LOL.

  18. LOL. If the original ending were to stand, the values of the whole drama would collapse: Since Xiao Heng had no ability to defend the frontier, why did he harm someone (King Cheng) who did? LOL. King Cheng had kept the border safe for many years. Could Xiao Heng let the whole country be buried with him because of his own personal grudge? Since Zhao Ye is unable to judge people and cannot keep his country, what is the point of being emperor? LOL. Because of this, a happy ending is the best.

    • no one wants a sad ending. it could’ve been a more logical happy ending (like in the novel), and a war at the border with XH winning. the way they set the final battle made no sense with him alone, wounded, and a ton of enemy troops coming for him. it should only take seconds to kill him after WJ. they could’ve easily made him the last one standing and then his sidekicks come in with reinforcements just in time. lots of other reasonable possibilities to make an epic war scene with WXY looking hot and have a happy ending. the way they did it just felt gratuitous.

      • I agree! I was really hoping for an epic final battle, but when Lu Ji was pierced by the spear, I could see it coming. LOL.

    • Chinese script writers are pathetic in the sense they prefer sad endings to happy endings most of the time, to just irk viewers like goofing around with them to tease how viewers are all holding up expectation high but end up great disappointment and dissatisfaction.

I personally had watched several dramas where the original novels had happy endings but the scripts just purposely changed them to sad ones or open endings. I’m sick of that. What’s the moral values to have sad endings given that the original novels have everyone happy at the end? So ridiculous!

      K dramas don’t do this!

      • @Somebody I just have seen less than 10 K-dramas but all them have proper, well-written endings. In C-dramas, they even forget about character building in the latest episodes in order to ruin it like Rise Of Phoenixes.

  19. LOL. Ok, now it is Li Meng’s turn. There are users who are accusing her of leaving a negative comment towards Liu Yifei. LOL.

    • they main cast have a couple of rumors now. it all started with the double success. i will sound delulu but i think it is orchestrated by competitors because nobody one mentioned anything when they think the double was going to flop… wang xing yue this, li meng that, joe chen blabla.

      • I suspect that too. I was gonna ask if this always happened in C-ent? That is, rumors and negative publicity should be all expected for any actors with rising popularity with freshly hit dramas just under their belts.

      • @Somebody It does happen but Wang Xing Yue has the fastest case. LOL. Many rumors is just two days.

      • The only thing that was mentioned about Wang Xing Yue before was whether his age was real or not. One of his teachers came to his defense, so that was the death of the discussion. LOL. But now the rumors are spreading to his intimate life, which I think is vile. I wonder if it would have made a difference if his studio hadn’t released the clips without authorization. LOL.

    • Yu Zheng thrives on controversy. The louder the outcry the happier he is. WXY is generating a lot of buzz right now. OF COURSE he’s going to caption it.

It’s his M.O. Throwing his actors under the bus just for buzz.
