The Double Sad Ending Video Leads to Employee Firings and Additional Bad Behavior Allegations But Furor Over Wang Xing Yue Starts to Die Down

This goes to show how one action can snowball and lead to many additional consequences. Last week Wang Xing Yue‘s production office released a video showing his character Xiao Heng dying in the final battle in the drama The Double. The stated intent was to showcase his character and acting, the behind-the-scenes intent was to harsh the buzz of CP shippers from that drama. That pissed the CP fans, the core drama fans, and Wu Jin Yan fans all off, as expected since doing so was akin to purposely telling a 9 year old there is no Santa Claus the day before Christmas, you know the kid is probably old enough to figure it out or suspect but intentionally ruining that belief is a douchey thing to do. Producer Yu Zheng had to step in to calm the furor and has fired two people (marketing and operations) in Wang Xing Yue’s team and blaming those two. But due to the bad taste, additional rumors came out including Wang Xing Yue maybe having an online shopping account that once bought sexy lingerie (for his girlfriend), that he intentionally flirts with all his female costars on set (Wu Jing Yan and earlier ones Bai Lu, Zhou Ye, and more) to generate buzz for himself, and that he may have lied about his age and is really 24 years old and not 22 years old. All three are rather nothingburgers even if true so this wave has died down in just a few days but honestly all of this is really his team’s own making.

    • @neen
Indeed ….. well it’s tough to survive in this C-ent or K-ent industry. You gotta to be squeaky clean, no dating, no kissing, no flirting….gotta live like a nun or monk.

  1. I saw WXY’s beautiful face. Then I clicked. LOL

This is so entertaining! Can I say WXY now in C-ent is like Byeon Woo Seok in SK?

BTW, it’s my 5 year old telling me there wasn’t such a fictional Santa in real life and deer couldn’t fly. LOL.

    • You are the one who said he is overhyped in visuals? I maybe be wrong but I think it’s the same username. It’s quite funny.

      • He didn’t impress me at all in his prior dramas. I said that to cool down his fangirls’ obsession back then. A few gals kept mentioning his name back then to annoy me cos he really didn’t do anything on me. LMAO. The Double is one drama that has changed my perception about C costume dramas and some actors including WXY and WJY of course. LOL.

      • @Somebody They wanted to make you share their opinion by force? No arguments or solid points? Every head is a world definitely because I would not measure an artist based on my personal considerations. There are actors I don’t like but I recognize their talent, there are actors I adore but I dare not write about the skills they don’t have e.g Yang Yang. Lol.

      • I did not recognize WXY’s talent until the Double. That’s the point. He also looked really too old for his age, e.g., in Amidst a Snowstorm.

      • @Somebody I understand, just sharing my opinion about how we value artists 🙂

      • How do we even know the behind-the-scenes intent?! And why would people think his team would want to douse the CP fire while the drama is still popular? Also, while releasing that clip was definitely a fauxpas on his team’s part, why are they being blamed for the dirt/slander people are throwing at him… instead of blaming those nonsensical netizens who are stirring up the trouble?

Hope he manages to ride these rough waves and prevail with the next hot drama.

    • I don’t find BWS to be that good-looking. But I haven’t seen any of his dramas yet, just a couple of clips here and there, so I have no opinion on his acting C:

I got a laugh out of your kid’s comment.

      • I also don’t find him good looking, becaus I never watch his dramas. Most people will have filter for character they like and I think that’s fine too. Sometimes I became a fan of singer and just because he sounds good I began to think he’s handsome enough. It’s more like charm thing

    • Lol my 5yr old said the same thg yday. Santa’s fake. Adults are the one who give the presents. I find WXY’s acting more mature thn his supposed age. Guess only management knows his real age

      • LOL. I used to tease his mature looking a lot. I used to say I’d never been impressed by his prior performances except that his dramas always made him look older than his said “real” age. LOL. I think his own voice sounds really deeper and sexier than a lot of C actors that makes him appear more mature. He can be a voice actor without that beautiful face. LOL.

  2. Most of the porpular actors and actresses have gone through their share of weird and bad rumours, I guess c neitzen r welcoming him into the entertainment industry of being seen in their own way 😆. I hope he plays his cards well because he in an unforgiving entertainment industry.

    • @mercy yes even respected actors have strange rumors spread around. it’s just a sign of how bad fan culture is in china.

  4. Yu Zheng just killed his own artist LOL
The age thing has been confirmed to be a malicious rumor and he is indeed 22, he is not big enough to survive if his rivals want to crash him, well goodbye

  5. I heard about the age rumor. He does seem mature looking at a glance. But only his company and close ones know what’s what. lol just supposing gets you no where so silly.

    • LOL. The only rumor that has been around since he debuted has been whether he was really born in 2002 or 2000. There was discussion in the past but it ended when a teacher of Wang Xing Yue came to his defense.

  6. The funny and curious thing here is that if the netizens weren’t pissed off about what Wang Xing Yue’s studio did, they wouldn’t bring the rumors to light. I can’t take seriously rumors that conveniently come out as a way to vent anger. It just exposes how unstable their temperament is.

  7. i already commented that i do not care if i sound like a complete delulu but i still believe that the rumors were orchestrated because they also tried to target li meng instantly but apparently there was not the desired buzz. but if i think about it, it doesn’t affect my moral if the rumors about wang xing yue were true. that’s the beauty of different perspectives.

    • some chinese netz were pretty purist about the lingerie shopping rumor. it’s stupid considering how we all came to the world. no stork brought us, right? lol.

  8. This is stupidity at its finest. Netizens should just be honest and say they want to control him.

    22 vs. 24? What’s the big deal? It’s only a difference of 2 years.

Buying sexy lingerie for his girlfriend? What’s the big deal? Newsflash, men his age have sex. They are not all virgins. lol.

What they call ‘flirting’ with costars is just teasing them. He’s jovial and clowning by nature. I’ve seen some bts of his dramas. Now if he were to get unusually handset, that would be a problem. But he has not. And these netizens should take a hike. They are acting as if THEY are his girlfriend and are in a relationship with him. Sick. And. Toxic.

  9. Water can carry a boat, but it can also capsize it. He definitely has the potential so I hope that working together with his team and agency, he can be more careful. Common sense is not an ornament.

    • I agree. As his studio, they have a right to want to concentrate fans who are interested in him since it’s a net profit. It’s business. But I think there were different routes to make a purification. Orchestrated or not, the rumors would have led him to lose his growing popularity had he been affiliated with a small agency.

  10. Its not like he said he was 10 years older or younger than his real age. 2 years is so stupid to be considered scandalous. And who even brought up all the other small issues because it sounds like its his own fans turned anti. Fandom is so volatile like that. One mistake and love turns to hate.

  11. The “scandals” mentioned above are no biggie, but there’s one more not mentioned here. There are rumours that WXY’s provident fund (apparently something related to employment) is affiliated with state-owned companies. I don’t really understand it but according to C-netz, it’s considered abusing the government system and is a serious offence. Can anyone shed light on this?

    • I think if the government related embezzlement accusation had any weight behind it, he’d be under investigation by now. Look at how fast Song Zu’Er was scrubbed off their internet.

      • Oh it’s related to embezzlement? Tbh it had sounded to me like his name was listed as an employee under a state-owned company and continuously received contributions into his provident fund even though he technically wasn’t working there or something like that. But yeah, it had been many days since this came up so it’s likely not true as there doesn’t seem to be any actions from authorities. My curiosity got piqued as Yu Zheng responded to and amplified all other rumours except for this one.

    • It’s that received money from the government when he shouldn’t have I think. I paid no particular attention but suddenly there is all this yelling about CP and Yu Zheng is making even more noise about it and suddenly, nobody is talking about the money.

It could be all of this was done by Yu Zheng on purpose to deflect from the money because that would be illegal. Yu Zheng knows what’s true trouble and what’s not so I think he weighed what is important.

  12. Someone will definitely come and mention me, so before that, i comment first lol.

Well, im not following an actor’s life, idgaf about his personal, as long as he doesnt commit on legit crimes.. about him flirting with his co stars, lol, that’s why, actors or idols cant be friends anymore bcuz if they get along well, people will call it ‘flirting’. I just think, he’s an extroverted and friendly person, but then, well, idk

Will wait for his new project. I like his acting and aura on screen, that’s all matter.

    • @Yui I agree with you, I like to focus on the actors work on screen, that way I keep myself from falling into an unnecessary halo effect. LOL. I occasionally watch the behind the scenes, interviews and variety shows, but that’s as far as my interest goes. LOL, as someone will also mention me, I will let you know that Wang Xing Yue is likely to become one of my favorites. LOL.

      • @Lyss, I guess perhaps your last statement in favor of WXY got certain folks to trigger mental trampoline LOL. People are paranoid. I only said that WXY MIGHT be NEXT “It” boy and you said that he is “LIKELY” to be ONE of your faves. We only see his potential to be big, not saying he’s ALREADY big. But some people got panicked bcos of our little recognition of this young actor? We didn’t say he’s there yet. What’s the big fuss about that? LOL.

      • @Somebody I won’t look for a way to understand what’s going on in their heads because it’s fun to watch them fight against a straw man. LOL.

    • exactly Lyss. Im not really into a certain actor. I change my fave in every drama, lol. Depending on the actor’s character in drama. But yeah, i pay attention on some names, just because they have consistently given their best performances. One of them is WXY. i’ll definitely watch his next project.

  13. I really like WXY’s screen presence tho he seemed a little out of his depth in the later half of the drama. Hope he is patient and hones his acting skills instead of getting carried away by fame and focusing on publicity/ hype instead of acting classes. He’s got the looks and charisma, the voice … just needs to get more experience and pick good projects. He’s got it in him to be a global star.

    • @Jana I think that better character development would have helped him interpret more emotions. I also felt him disconnected in a couple of scenes in the final episodes but he got his energy back in the battle against King Cheng, specifically when he cut off his head. LOL. Overall I am pleased enough with his work but I also have the hopes that he will go from fine to great.

      • Yes, agree. It was a FL -centric drama.
I don’t blame him and his team on wanting to capitalize on his epic battle scenes. There were his best parts in the later half.

      • Where can I see that clip of uncut battle scenes his team put out? Do you have a link? Thanks.

  14. Lmao those alleged “bad behaviour” rumours trying to bring him down are such nothings. If that is the best, the haters can come up then he will be OK lol!

      • You piqued my gossipy curiosity. LOL. Who are these actors they wanted to promote by taking advantage of the rumors and negative publicity of WXY?

      • @Somebody Zhao Liying, Liu Yuning, Luo Yunxi and another name I can’t recall. LOL.

      • I can understand why LYN and LYX, but why the heck ZLY? What benefits could she gain from WXY’s rumors?

      • @Somebody Not sure if what I found is the same that @Lyss’ but some of them don’t like Wu Jinyan so they consider Zhao Liying to be a better co-star for him. I was trying to translate comments but I am not in the mood right now: https://telegra.ph/Comments-07-04-15

  15. If he wants to get famous, work with Zao Li Ying, she can guarantee fame. Had he work with her, she would protect and speak up for him.

    • on MyDramaList you commented the same. no one paid any attention to you so you came to find a new refuge for your lame attempts. the funny part is that you are looking for others to insult zhao liying by promoting her in unrelated pages or articles.

  16. I might be one of the few that don’t get the hype about WXY. His role in The Double was one of the easiest ML roles to pull (be badass; be handsome; save the FL; occasionally hide a little smile) and his visuals are not really my thing – I keep seeing him as a less interesting version of Cheng Lei. Also I did not like the voice acting, too slow, too whispery. So no, I am not a fan.

At the same time, I am definitely not an anti either. I mean, this is a young kid (btw, come on, why would he ever hide 2 years at 24???) and though in my view he’s not all crazy fans say he is, he really does have potential. He has the looks (even though they’re not my style) and he looks like a decent actor – I personally found him better in Story of Kunning Palace, where his role was meatier. All the rumors going around, from buying ladies’ underwear to “flirting” with his co stars are just ridiculous. So unless there’s something in what Lilith mentioned (which sounded more serious, though I didn’t really get it), I am sure he will be OK. Hopefully with less delusional fans and less psychotic antis.

    • @Nena I agree about Duke Su being a generic and one-dimentional character. LOL.

But I don’t agree about your other points. Less interesting? Wang Xing Yue has a better facial structure and harmony than Cheng Lei with his bug eyes, big ears and flat face. LOL.

You are writing that he has the looks and the potencial. LOL. That’s why he is a rising actor right now. Isn’t it clear. No one here is saying his acting is 10/10.

“Too slow, too whispery.” That was supposed to be a character’s trait according to the original source. LOL.

I found him bland in SOKP, but I thik he has a strong presence on TD. LOL.

      • He has enough potential for me to keep an eye on him to see if he can hone his acting skills or not. LOL.

      • @NENA cheng Lei’s decent is looks for me. wang xing yue’s face is more memorable to me because of his sharp features even though my type is flowerboys lol. when i’ve been browsing chinese social media, most netizens haven’t pointed out that Wang Xing Yue’s acting is outstanding. the hype about him is because he is eyecandy, his acting was adequate and it’s his first leading role in a production that achieved good buzz. he was starring in bland dramas before so it is logical that his rise in popularity is marked with the double. there are also fans who tend to write that their favorites are oscar-worthy but it’s just feelings. even in this blog users acknowledges wang xing yue’s potential without pretending that he is a powerhouse actor. potential matters because there is hope that he can become a truly great actor. he is good-looking, he has good height, he has potential, he can dubs himself convincingly, he is young. that’s enough for there to be interest in him when there are others who have none of that and are living off their empty fame.

      • @Lyss…Nena clearly states that WXY’s look is not her thing so it’s funny to me that you want to refute that point by bringing in your own subjective opinion. She didn’t even argued that Cheng Lei is better looking than WXY, just that he’s more interesting looking. And the very same features of the guy that you so disparaging about are probably what make he looks interesting to Nena. Different stroke for different folks especially when it comes to looks. I wish fans would just accept their own taste in beauty will not and don’t need to be aligned with others’ and stop insulting other actors and actresses in comparison.

      • @R Insulting? Mental gymnastics are funny. LOL. I was also sharing my personal opinions. I can’t dictate what she should like or not. Cheng Lei is not interesting to me because of what I’ve stated, I find his face to be average. Maybe I don’t write it properly, English is not my first language.

      • @R Subjectivity literally means we can disagree about others’ tastes. If Nena can write CL is visually more interesting than WXY, why Lyss can’t do the same thing about her preference? Nena also has the right to write with more depth why WXY visuals are not her type if she wants to. Can’t spot the damage or disrespect.

      • @R, you’re being excessive again! I didn’t see @Lyss’ comment anywhere close to insulting @Nena. They both basically just expressed their own preference of visuals and defended their own preferences. I don’t think you’ve ever learned to be level headed when engage in debates but easily get emo cos you read something you don’t like and just missed key points.

    • LOL. Not all actors in his age group or even liuliangs with more years in the industry can dub themselves decently, so that’s a point in his favor. As I mentioned before, I want to see how his potential evolves, he might get worse, he might get better, who knows? LOL.

      • @Lyss his line delivery is good in the double even though his voice is not my type. lately i like everything soft lol. it would be a shame to see that defined attractive face basically just by reading lines like other names in c-ent. i also share your wish that he can improve his acting skills even more.

    • I’m in the same category – WXY’s not bad, but he’s also not that great either. His character in The Double did get interesting for me from ep 9 onwards. In vice versa, I thought he was pretty bland in TSOK though.

      • “That great.” If we remove the word that, it still says great. Just joking lol.

    • @Nena Good luck. I got harassed for saying his acting is still rather green, even though I had also said he has potential. They only want 100% positive words, you can’t say anything else or you will receive replies of how *they* think otherwise.

      • Isn’t that the wonderful thing about different perspectives? If someone comments that they don’t understand the hype someone will logically come along and share their reasons why they do understand the hype. If we can’t debate, what’s the point of this being a public forum? Comments are made in order to receive feedback, to exchange knowledge. If I don’t want to receive them, then I better not comment.

      • You can just share your perspectives under your own separate comment instead of replying to *every* single comment that isn’t 100% positive praise for your bias. Nobody likes overzealous fans.

      • I don’t see users writing separate comments when they agree with each other. Why shouldn’t the same be done when it comes to disagreement? Usually threads are made for the purpose of following the convo. If they want to respond to each comment they can do so, it’s called freedom of speech. As long as there is respect, one can even learn from the other’s perspective C:

      • There’s plenty of separate positive comments here and on other posts though? Freedom of speech is one thing, becoming an annoyance to others is another. It’s the same as a person proclaiming himself as a blunt person and use it as an excuse to constantly be rude to others.

      • Lilith, positive comments regarding this dude have mostly replies. I’ll have to write “I don’t want you to interact with my comment” for next time hahaha. It depends on what you consider annoying, I don’t mind fans defending their fave(s). They have the right to do so, in the same way, the opposing party has the right to expose their reasons. Even with disagreements, healthy discussions can exist.

    • You are not.

Actually there is no hype about this guy in China. Oh his fans and YZ are trying to produce it but there was no real explosion here.

      • funny to see how you are camping on articles about him trying to gaslight his fans or supporters. “lol” is a good nickname for what you represent 😉

  17. It’s interesting that his name has been trending a lot lately. In the world of Chinese entertainment, being on the hot search list, whether for good or bad reasons, is actually beneficial because it helps actors/actresses gain more attention and become “traffic actors”. In fact, being constantly talked about on the hot search is a good sign, and it seems like his fans are pretty happy these days, indicating that he is no longer a lesser-known figure.
This is also a good opportunity to filter out the fans. If he can weather this phase, he will likely find success.

      • Yeah, that’s why I mentioned that it’s a great chance to weed out the fans. The real ones will stick around no matter what. And if those rumors cannot bring him down, he will be on the road to be “liuluong”. Looking back in time: all traffic actors have to go through that round: drama hit—>then rumors then become liuluong

    • @Xulyfe, this makes sense to me how C-ent works. Think about my own fave, he went through the same process to get on the top of popularity. Now as I see, ppl including nonfans (路人)seem to either like him or hate him without gray area. That’s interesting cos I’m usually indifferent to a lot of actors who are not in the liuliag league. I just don’t care. But I do either like or dislike those who are already popular. I guess this sorta interprets the kind of mentality that either I approve of the popularity or just don’t think they deserve the fame.

  18. HE IS ANOTHER DECENT ACTOR OVERHYPED BECAUSE OF HIS GOOD LOOKS JUST LIKE XIAO ZHAN, DILIREBA, ZHANG JINGYI, LIU XUEYI, TIFFANY TANG, WALLACE HUO, CHEN ZHEYUAN 🙄

WANG XING YUE’S DUBBING SKILLS ARE GOOD THOUGH BUT WHAT MORE… I UNDERSTAND THAT VISUALS MATTERS BUT THEY AREN’T MODELS IN THE FIRST PLACE.

    • LOL
Did your cat lock your shift key?

In every comment you use capital letters. Most of the time there are two reasons for it:
      1.)to highlight something important
      or
      2.) to scream online.

Since highlighting everything nothing ist highlighted, you are screaming. Hopefully, after venting your anger constantly you get better soon
      LOL

  19. For me, best drama in 2024 thus far. Very strong cast and crazy addictive drama that kept me chasing. WXY’s Duke Su was totally captivating. The role was not as meaty as the antagonists’ but he was A+ with what his character was given.

As for the young man himself, I’m happy he’s achieving success at so young an age. I hope he has good advisors around him to help through all this new fame.

Not sure I understand about all this “cleansing” the CP stuff. It’s just all weird to me. I like him, don’t mind him if he flirted with anyone (gosh, he’s an unmarried young man) and certainly have no idea why anyone would get mad if he bought lingerie for his girlfriend. Not for HIMSELF. His girlfriend. So why would that even be news? Sigh. As usual, I’m so confused with C-entertainment fandom’s obsession.

  20. Damn I sure hope someone is paying Lyss considering how much she has been running around trying to make this guy into some new star here ahaha

    • @Lmao LOL. It’s amusing because he is actually a rising actor, he is not an IT star yet. You are trying to put words in my mouth because I made fun of your lame rumors. LOL. Try again.

      • @Lyss

You are working here for this nobody girl. I sure hope the money is good considering how hard you are trying! It looks kinda desperate tbh but you do you.

      • @Lmao LOL. My stance towards him has been neutral. With every response you make it obvious that you have an agenda (look at your lame attempts at pejortive comments. LOL.), which is pretty funny. If you want to entertain me, let’s go! I don’t make the rules.

      • user @Lmao seems to be triggered tbh. they always act like this when no one cares about their unfounded accusations. for WXY being a nugu, @Lmao is dedicating different usernames and even waiting for answers. hahah.

    • @Lmao LOL! He gained two million followers on Weibo, which means his name is better known now. I have never mentioned that he is close to achieving stardom. LOL. There are users who praised him with more passion but you only come to me. LOL.

    • @Lmao

You appeared out of nowhere in the last two articles about Wang Xing Yue and so far you have made five username changes, a nugu shouldn’t make you scheme like that. You are the one who is desperate and presed. Here comes the circus again.

    • @Lmao It seems the name Wang Xing Yue it’s entrenched in your psyche, you can’t let it go. You are quite dedicated to him. I wonder if you make money when you start barking just by seeing the simple support for him?

    • @Lyss I read ur reply to silly @Lmao in the previous post and it was pretty funny. Now u have left a mark on her/his mind bcos above there are comments that are making excessive praises like comparing his popularity to Byeon Woo Seok’s but silly @Lmao didn’t even look at that but came straight to mention you.

    • @Lmao Funny how these people (this person) are (is) accusing you of username changes when you’ve been here longer than them (him/her). I hope Koala is liking this recent influx of traffic.

      • funny how some people only look at what is convenient for them. they are alarmed by fans supporting their fave but not by a user with probably has bad intentions defaming and invalidating the work of certain actors. lol @lmao has replied to the thread they created using different nicknames in the past so…

  21. Well after reading the replies that user Lyss has received I will finally agree with you @Somebody, despite the crashes we had in the past xd. On this site there are folks who want to control what others want to express when it doesn’t suit them.

      • LMAO (no pun intended LMAO). I absolutely have no idea of this dude @Lmao. She popped up out of blue from nowhere from time to time. I’m pretty fond of WXY while she is definitely a naysayer of him. How would I have the same IP as @Lmao? We’re residing in opposite camps. LOL.

      • @Somebody The only one that should be able to see IP addresses is O.C Koala.

  22. Look at the comments! It’s one of the proofs that there is indeed a buzz going around WXY. Who would care if WXY were just a nonfactor? LOL.

    • Wasn’t he also trending in searches before the controversies? He was a relatively unknown name, now he’s on the rise. I can’t understand what is the problem is with that or why it is pointed out negatively or even to mock. Didn’t most actors start out that way too? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      • He was indeed once on the top 1 hot indices even surpassing my fave who always ranked pretty high. That was before all this negative publicity. I gather that some camps in C-ent are doing this straight out of jealousy. Mostly these camps affiliate with those whose credibility is not really that solid in the acting department and may be just one-time flukes. They definitely feel threatened cos there are only limited resources of new jobs and projects. It’s a cut throat competition.

  23. Just finished The Double. It’s my favorite 2024 C-drama so far.
    I like his voice.
Manly visuals are not my cup of tea, I find them stereotypical but he has a gorgeous face.
His acting is decent. He can deliver. I want to see if he can level up.

  24. A drama that’s full of drama after it’s ended. Well done?

Anyways, with so many nipping at his heels, it means plenty are feeling threatened by his rising star. It’s a good thing. If there are no negative news, his marketing team isn’t doing their job lol. I guess that means his production team shouldn’t be fired but promoted instead?

I like the guy’s face, plain and simple. I wouldn’t exactly call him Wallace Huo Beta, since I think they’re both good looking in different ways, but yes, he’s def in line to get the next hot guy baton from Wallace.
