  2. lol you shouldn’t argue if you get first billing or not when you are not an exceptional actor…you should be grateful you get a role and hope the new roles improve your skills as an actor…

    • Exactly. All these petty billing arguments are ridiculous but particularly so from someone like GNZ who should be grateful she is getting leading roles at all with her lacking skills.

  3. To be honest, Gulnezer and Tian Jia Rui didn’t seem visually compatible anyway. I’m not familiar with Wang Yu Wen, so can’t say anything about acting ability, although being better that Gulnezer is not difficult.

  4. I will say that again Gue Jing Ming is really always favored his male actors over the FL and he makes this very obvious, even if she is not that outstanding actress she definitely doesn’t deserve to get the second billing since this dude hadnt accomplished any thing and he doesnt even have that much of fans base that brings big investor,GJM only gave him first billing cuz he played in three of his dramas, I see why this is unfair to her

    • @merry, @yuhyi
Yes I agree. I think commentators and viewers don’t understand about sponsorships. Its not about Gulinazha’s pride or arrogance but it’s her agency who needs to meet their sponsors and advertisers’ expectations. She gets top endorsements for her beauty and popularity to promote products and services. So it’s not about the acting skills. It’s not surprising they had to reject the second billing offer for Gulinazha as she can’t risk losing the lucrative contracts if she is downgraded.

Yes Wang Yu Wen might be a better actress but she is still at the level of Gulinazha, Dilraba, Zhao Lusi in getting sponsorships from international brands.

      • Typo …. Yes Wang might be a better actress but she is still “not” at the level of Gulinazha, Dilraba, Zhao Lusi in terms of getting sponsorships from top brands. So she can afford not to take up top billing if necessary.

It may not seem right to give top billing to someone with beauty but without award winning acting skills. But the sponsors are not film academies or associations, so they are not critiques of acting prowess. They only care about the sales of their products and services through the artiste’s popularity with the viewers and consumers.

  5. This seems like an upgrade. They don’t seem compatible at all and Wang Yu Wen is a better actress.

Lol @ Koala mentioning the coats. I don’t really like Republic Era dramas but I agree they have some fabulous coats 🤣

  6. This is an upgrade in casting as far as I’m concerned. I’m not watching a drama just for an actresses ‘goddess like’ beauty when an everyday, cute beauty would do. For that, I can turn to a magazine spread. I want an actress who can be convincing in her role. And Wang Yu Wen is much more suitable and compatible female lead in terms of matching looks with the male actor.

  7. GLNZ is right to reject 2nd billing to a newb. It’s a no-name newb right now who doesn’t even have the experience or popularity to justify 2nd billing for her. She’s taken up 2nd billings before, so being 2nd billing isn’t a big deal. But to a mediocre newbie (prob schlepping up to the director per my speculations), who only has 1 bigger production to his name? No way.

On the other hand, WYW’s a better actress and as far as aesthetics are concerned, is more compatible to the ML. I still feel bad for WYW as she’s so much more experienced than ML, but she needs this production with GJM’s name attached for extra boost in popularity.
