Ju Jing Yi Reportedly Fielding A Lot of Offers That Would Have Gone to Angelababy Before She was Iced for Months and Still Trying to Make Comeback

It’s been a busy summer for C-actress Ju Jing Yi, coming off a solidly successful spring C-drama airing of In Blossom. In June her long time agency announced she was going to re-sign with them but she stated it was news to her, and then announced she was not going to re-sign. She then set up her own personal office and appears to be doing fine on her own for now, and rumor has it she may sign with big agency Hesong Entertainment. In the meantime, C-ent insiders are saying that Ju Jing Yi has been getting more offers than usual because the offers that would have gone to Angelababy are flowing to her. Looks like the roles and brand campaigns are looking for a very specific look lol. Angelababy was iced for 6 months after the Crazy Horse show in Paris and has been trying to hard after her icing was lifted to try and make a comeback but is not making any headway. Ju Jing Yi would be smart to take as many opportunities as she can.

  2. It doesn’t really matter which of the two gets the role, they are equally bad actresses. One looks totally plastic, the other one like she urgently needs a hot meal.
Getting more dramas may be a good thing for JJY, but it isn’t for the audience. Who wants to see more of someone who cannot act and looks the same in every role she takes?
There are so many talented actresses around, just give them a chance!

  3. Lol. That’s kind of a backhanded compliment given that AB was known for being a beautiful plastic flower vase with no talent.

    • I hope not. I hope she is smart and keeps herself protected.i dont want more blacklisted stars. Its so sad how the get almost erased from Cent, so cruel.

      • Yeah it is cruel.

Makes me wish there was another way to punish them than erasing them from existence. Like maybe, garnishing their wages and adding penalties?

      • @Lizzy8, @xoxo

I find JJY very watchable. In a way I find her intelligent and sensible characterization easier to watch than Angelababy who always appear pouty and pretty.

Nothing against both ladies. Just wish both all the best. It’s just human nature who like to watch pretty ladies endorsing products and services, regardless of their acting skills.

  4. Ju Jingyi gets a lot of acting criticisms but her fanbase is really strong. She has real fans behind her, not bots. She gets people talking and watching her shows so she is a profitable star. She has better stats than Angelababy in cdramaland. I saw the news she has the most magazine sales for female celebrities on her latest issue. I still dont think she deserves some opportunities she gets but that’s Cent. She will get chances as long as her dramas do well no matter how people bash her.

    • Yes, u r right on that. I get that people want the opportunity to go to better actresses but it clear she brings something to the table that why she keep getting casted. The good thing about c ent is they chuck out so many dramas in a year, so if she is in a drama and she doesn’t work for u, u will still be able to find another drama to entertain u. The bad thing is she might be in a script u watch to watch.
All in all, I feel we r in a stage of abundance entertainment of tv shows that when I checkout a show and is doesn’t work for me ,I move on to the one that does irregardless of the actor.

    • Unfortunately you’re right.

I’m not much of a hater of any celebrity, but Ju Jingyi’s popularity as an actress is ridiculous to me. I didn’t mind when she only acted in mediocre dramas I had no interest in but now she actually stars in dramas I would watch if she hadn’t been casted as the female lead. With her looks and skills, she should just be an influencer and idol singer. Maybe a 10-minute-drama actress at best.

But it’s clear the industry higher-ups mainly care about profit and Ju Jingyi obviously brings in the money for them. Oh well.

    • Say what you will about Ju Jing Yi, but she is watchable in the right roles. She started her acting career well, it’s just that she clearly got lazy about her acting later on. It would work for her if she changed her stylist and put more of an effort into her acting, but those who love her, truly love her. It’s just that her recent dramas are unwatchable.

Unlike Angelababy who really has no talent for acting at all….AB seems very nice, she might do well sticking to variety… but I guess the pay is different.

      • True, and most actors in general are in that category, just the few who do well in every role and even with that, they are limited to poor script. With this advantage and disadvantages, we still find ourselves entertained either way, it not that bad imo, give them the employment and let then gain some income.

      • @xoxo,
        Yes I agree with you.

JJY is easy on the eyes. Her on-screen intelligent and sensible seem to be her trademark and I understand some are frustrated and want her to take on more challenging roles. I can’t blame her for staying in that safe zone as that where she makes her money….with her sponsors (even with the white makeup)

To be fair, she is not the only actress doing so. Which actress adopted different characters in different shows?
Yang Mi always taking on strong characters. Liu Shi Shi always acting as noble and elegant. Yang Zi with her bubbly and at times sacrificial characters. Dilraba ultra sweet and beautiful at all times.

Those who take risk eg Zhao Jin Mai would get criticised by non Chinese commentators, especially on this site, for her adapted character from the novel of Grand Princess drama. But she is one of the few who take on the risk of versatile acting….

  5. She is very highly profitable and bring in great money for whoever hires her so I see the reasons why she keep on being hired.
It’s amazing seeing her fandom being big and wealthy enough to finance her adventures very well.

I do not agree neither I do enjoy but it’s the truth.

People here want real actresses but they do not pay to watch them.

    • @lin
Spot on. People like to rant about acting but are all the actresses featured on brands fantastic in acting?
      I don’t think so.

Have we seen ads featuring great actresses but with mediocre looks?
There are but less in comparison to the pretty ones. Given the chance to be in her shoes, I can say a lot of us would not turn down endorsement or advertisement money opportunities if we only have average acting but with great looks. She is only endorsing products, not commiting a crime.

Putting aside whether she is PS or cosmetic enhanced, JJY is still very popular and she can bring in the money for her endorsements. So she has every right to capitalize on that. It’s okay for non-Chinese residents not to watch her, coz Douyin and Weibo only reflect the China citizens/viewers.

  6. She always looks the same either on screen or off screen. The only difference is layers of dangling beads. 🤣 Her acting is actually tolerable but doesn’t have enough overtones. I think styling with nuance may help when the acting isn’t nuanced enough. LOL.

  7. I liked her so much in the Legend of Yun Xi but ever since then it’s like she has stayed frozen in time. She hasn’t evolved or improved at all in her acting. Her acting actually seems to have gone backwards because she used to make some facial expressions and wasn’t as vain about her onscreen appearance as she is now.

  8. I personally don’t watch Ju Jing-yi because she doesn’t have the right disposition. That being said, many of the younger generation of Chinese actresses are the same. Zhao Lu-si and Yu Shu-xin both give off the social media influencer vibe and I can’t take them seriously.
