The Demon Hunter’s Romance Airs with The Prisoner of Beauty on Deck as C-actress Song Zu Er Gets the Soft Green Light to Return to Entertainment Industry
So the Song Zu Er getting maybe cancelled for tax evasion scandal is now a year and a half in and probably has as much traction as it does because she has two big fully filmed dramas on deck with The Demon Hunter’s Romance and The Prisoner of Beauty with lots of money on the line. Similarly Yuan Bing Yan isn’t at her level or has that much money at stake from production and investors so her tax scandal and subsequent confirmed cancellation seems to have been accepted as inevitable. In recent months a lot of C-ent gossip blogs are all saying that word on the street is Song Zu Er is now free to return to her entertainment activities, as her soft ban has quietly ended. She is reportedly in talks for a variety show as well as a drama though it’s not big budget and she has had to lower her salary fee significantly for both as investors remain wary for the time being. Now with iQiyi air dropping The Demon Hunter’s Romance this past weekend, Tencent is reportedly planning to air The Prisoner of Beauty next week as evidenced by reservations being opened up to viewers and the synopsis being updated on the website page.
I will admit I’m more curious for the Prisoner one over the Demon one. It will be interesting to see if all the hype was worth it or not.
“Demon” isn’t actually too interesting, but her acting is always solid and convincing, so I just keep watching. Lol. The trailer definitely oversold the thrill of the drama. It’s sort of underwhelming, and RJL is just decent. The drama IS pretty to look at though. As for “Prisoner”, I think that one will be money. Both SZE and LYN have great screen presence, and I’m sure his song on the soundtrack will be stellar. Lol. They better drop it soon for real!
I absolutely love The Demon Hunter’s Romance so far but I doubt SZE is free to return to entertainment activities. Probably only the dramas which were already filmed are allowed to air.
The drama is beautifully shot, as expected of director Lin Yufen. Both leads’ acting are solid and don’t feel out of place at all. The drama gives out vibes reminiscent of Liao Zhai and I’m loving it!
Agree with Lilith. I’ve watched this drama because of your comment on the previos article below. And yeeeesss, the first 6 episodes were good. Allen wasnt as ‘flat’ as before. He was good in those episodes.
I really wish SZE will comeback. She’s a great and talented young actress. It’s such a pity to be dropped from showbiz.
Yeah. Although I have my doubts, I do hope that she ca return. I didn’t take note of her previous dramas before but I really like her acting in TDHR.
I have enjoyed most of her dramas, thus I am enjoy this beginning eps too. Looking forward to watching her new works. After the near career meltdown, I believe she has more to bring to her acting skills now.
I watched quite a few of her dramas and she’s always deliver. She was fantastic in The Bond. I’m waiting for TPoB.
Ive started to watch this…. the CGI is a bit dodgy, but if you can overlook it, its not too bad. Alan Ren is Alan Ren, so if you have a soft spot for him, no problem. The FL spends the first few episodes supposedly timid/frightened, but it comes across a bit like she is witless with her mouth persistently open and a glazed look overall – but she does improve when she smiles….
