Liu Yu Ning Becomes First C-actor to Have Three Hot Heat Index Period C-dramas Across All Three Major Platforms Youku, Tencent, and iQiyi
The success of airdropped Tencent period romance C-drama The Prisoner of Beauty has immensely benefited male lead Liu Yu Ning in addition to cementing the return of female lead Song Zu Er. Her back-to-back airdropped dramas TPoB and the earlier The Demon Hunter’s Romance all got strong buzz and reportedly she’s back to the same level as before with her per episode price and productions offering scripts to her. But for Liu Yu Ning, he’s got a “first of its kind” achievement thanks to TPoB, he’s the first male lead actor to achieve hit buzz indexes for period dramas in all three major streaming platforms Youku, iQiyi, and Tencent. A Journey to Love and The Story of Pearl Girl hit 10,000 in iQiyi and Youku respectively (which is the metric on those sites) and TPoB hit 30,000 on Tencent. He’s not the first male lead to hit the vaunted 10K, 10K, 30K metric on all three sites, that would be Bai Jing Ting but his dramas were two period and two modern (amazing!), so Liu Yu Ning gets the all period dramas kill. Congrats, I used to think he was solely supporting male lead material until AJtL and now I can’t unsee how charismatic and charming he can be onscreen. He is also one of the tallest male leads in C-ent and he utilizes that to his advantage and sometimes the god-given does impart and edge.
And he is still a nobody. That’s because water matters little, no matter what numbers it produces.
It is especially funny to see bragging over Pearl girl, an epic flop.
Why so mad? Must doing something right if he’s got haters. lol

Congratulations Liu Yuning! I’m very much a fan and so happy for his success. Thankfully TPoB got aired like finally and true enough it does wonders for him. Hope to see him rise higher! He is really talented in singing and acting. He has that natural charisma and command when he performs and acts. He deserves all his sucess right now
Say what you may but LYN gets good dramas. I think it helps that he sings many osts and can develop more connections. But he is also a serviceable actor and can act charmingly in the hands of a good director. AJTL’s director directed him much better than the one in TPOB. Nonetheless, he has good dramas in the pipeline too such as A dream within a dream. He has become one of those actors whose projects I look out for.
I know that LYN has so many haters that keeps commenting on his “unsuitable male lead” look but this guy can act. Sorry to the haters but acting is selling the story more than looks, that’s why audience like me look at the first 2 episodes and decide whether we keep watching or not. I don’t look at the actors face and go brain dead. Let ability be the basis and let it shine if a person can do that then the person is doing well in the entertainment profession. I would rather talent be the basis of performaning arts rather than a face. A lot of actors can’t act their way out of a wet paper bag and that stops audience like me from watching shows. Mr. Liu, you’re watchable so in my opinion you’re doing great, keep working hard, your EQ shows in the interviews too.
Congrats!! He may not a top or even in-the-middle-of-the-pack visual for MLs or even in the top rung of skilled actors, but he does bring something to the table that doesn’t feel easily replicated because it’s a part of his overall aura as a person. Kudos to the casting directors/producers who see that and can discern whether he’s a good match for the roles.

Glad to see him doing so well. He is very hard-working at his craft. Loved him in the story of Pearl girl. I thought his portrayal of the main character shone.
He’s charming and seems like a nice dude. His acting is decent and he doesn’t fight for first billing in dramas, which gives him more drama options. And most importantly, his fans don’t go around harassing others and embarrassing him all over the net.
I think he has great fanbase thank to himself too. Through his live he always communicate and remind his fans to behaves. Not like other artists who let their fans cause chaos

I thought he was pretty charismatic in the Story of a Pearl girl even if the show itself was such a disappointment (specially, after I waited for the lead reunion). I never understand why people don’t like him. I think he comes across as a charming and nice person.
Honestly , its rare for me to really like actor… Before my favorite actor is Hu Ge.. but now Liu Yuning… I think he is unique, and has very beautifull eyes and smile… I wish him success in the future , both singing and acting

The story is cliche and has so many trope but the good pairing really make it really watchable.
Well deserved. All his projects are lucky that he has pretty good comedic timing whenever they need it to ground his rough and tumble characters. I definitely feel like that’s his edge over other actors—he manages to keep his characters human, and NOT just the ML hero. I hope he continues to land solid leading actresses!!! His three hits were acted opposite some heavy hitter actresses who can carry their own too, so together, it’s been magic.
I have really enjoyed his dramas and am shocked when I hear haters say he’s not handsome. Very glad to hear of his success, may it only be the beginning.

fanbase wise its liu yuning. but if u are talking about public recognition for acting skills, its bai jingting. liu yuning is only cast in idol historical dramas, while bai jingting has moved on to other genres like crime thriller, period dramas and legal dramas.
also i think xiao zhan and tf boys are way more popular if you are talking about idols who later turned to acting.
Im so glad to see this. I wish him even more fame because he really deserves it. Even if Im not one of his big fans I like watching him a lot more than some more famous faces in Cent. Hope his haters will have blast with these news lol
