The Story of Pearl Girl Drops to 5.8 on Douban a Week After Ending as Industry Views Puts this Flop on Zhao Lu Si as the Top Billed Female Lead

I actually think Zhao Lu Si acted decently in The Story of Pearl Girl, her performance was not even in my top 10 of complaints with the drama. But the drama is a flop for sure now, with the amount of money put in and advertising dollars vis-a-vis the reception, reviews, and viewership. A week after the drama finished its run, the ratings on Douban have dropped from an opening 6.3 down to now 5.8. It sits just below Zhao Lu Si’s last drama The Last Immortal which has 5.9 ratings. Because Pearl Girl was promoted as a big female lead drama with basically the male lead Liu Yu Ning as just a side piece, rather than a dual lead drama, industry is putting this on her shoulders and seeing it now as two dramas in a row where she didn’t deliver a hit. It hasn’t yet impacted her career or level but makes it more important that her next drama makes a big splash.
