C-actor Zhai Xiao Wen’s Fandom Throws a Hissy Fit After He’s Confirmed in My Drama Missy Opposite Wu Xuan Yi in a Third Reunion
Okay, I get this is common place in territorial C-fandom culture but he is not famous enough for his fans to think this way lol. Rising C-actor Zhao Xiao Wen was cast this week in new iQiyi modern romance C-drama My Drama Missy opposite female lead Wu Xuan Yi. This would make the third reunion for these two stars in a drama and most recent time being in Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Love in Pavilion. Zhai Xiao Wen’s fandom went berserk with this casting, questioning why he’s taking it to play second fiddle to her again and be used by her to generate buzz, and threatened to not promote this drama and even some fans have said they will leave his fandom. Zhao Xiao Wen had to respond by saying he’s still trying to grow as an actor and his skills and believes in taking new opportunities and will do his best. I can’t believe he has to placate his own fans trying to dictate his career choices. In this day and age when lead drama roles are hard to come by especially with stars who are still trying to level up this is a perfectly logical role for him to take opposite a female lead that has worked well together.
I am currently watching this young man on The Chinese Restaurant S9. He needs to steadily build his career as well as earn money. Fans should support his decision to work.
Like and support him if they do and leave him if they don’t anymore. Does anyone actually need this kind of fan? Even if well-intentioned, it’s not okay to dictate his life and career choices according to their wishes and threatening him.
There’s some people who treat their idols as some kind of avatar sim, similar to how some moms try to push their unfulfilled dreams onto their children.

Wu Xuanyi is like the “less popular” version of Ju Jingyi. Her acting is horrible in all her dramas as a leading actress. But then again Zhai Xiaowen has no rights to complain – he is neither popular nor handsome (not sure about his acting since I haven’t watched him in anything).
Ok now, he is fairly handsome and his acting is pretty okay… the main actress is okay too when in the right role. They both are growing as actors and unfortunately have fans that are a bit extreme. That is all. She has more main leads than him so it makes sense to put them together. It’s part of the growing process to eventually find more opportunities. Now if it was a bigger named actress it would make sense to complain some but no need to put these actors so far down. He was great in sweet teeth and so was she but opportunities for both actors seem few and whatever they get they grab.
Is he still dating Zhou Yutong?
Some Chinese actor fans are getting out of control. Let the actors act instead of holding them hostage to your whims. I can’t imagine the casting crew being happy with some of these actors probably cost them opportunities because they don’t wanna deal with this constant headache.
He comes from an idol background so I’m not surprised his fans are overbearing.
