Period Romance C-drama Jia Jin Chai Changes Leads to Bao Shang En and Zhang Kang Le and Lowers Budget
This drama was discussed this year as a S-budget drama and the female lead was going to be top billed with Tian Xi Wei. But now the production has scrapped the original scope for the C-drama Jia Jin Chai (嫁金钗) or Marry the Golden Hairpin. The drama will now star Bao Shang En and Zhang Kang Le and the budget revised down to an A-budget drama. Financially this probably makes more sense to try and make a profit but these two leads have yet to impress me in any performance I’ve seen to date. Though Bao Shang En has been the female lead in a handful of dramas and she’s still very young so there is a lot of runway to improve. Zhang Kang Le been stuck as the pining and scheming second male lead and he’s also so wooden there perhaps getting a male lead character to play will showcase more of his potential.
Both cant act and boring despite having such good looking appearances. Probably will get better with more experiences.
She is cute but some of her ok dramas so far are the shorter dramas. Her recent ones have been so so. She has potential though. The male lead is such a pretty actor but it is hard to tell his potential because his past roles have not been so interesting and all I ever notice is his pretty face in dramas. Like koala said maybe we can see his potential in this project. 🤷🏻♀️
I liked ZKL in Faithful but he was a supporting character. Never seen the FL in anything but she’s really pretty
Watch Youthful Glory; she is the main character with Song Wei Long.
I want to like Bao Shang En, but I can’t seem to get into her acting even though there are worse actresses whose acting I can warm up to. SKL hasn’t really made an impression. Hope this drama will change my thoughts about them.
