K-actor Jo Jin Woong Announces Retirement From Prolific Acting Career in Light of Revelations of His Juvenile Record — 14 Comments

  1. South Korea. The most toxic society on the planet. Made mistakes in his youth. Has obviously lived a decent life since. But hey, let’s destroy the rest of your life for mistakes you made when you were 16.

One country I would never consider living. Just awful group-mentality people. No wonder their suicide rate is so high. Vile.

    • To be fair, many countries are the same. People easily get cancelled anywhere. Asia does seem to hold people to higher standards and does come down hard on those who make mistakes. Suicide rates are high in many Asian countries where there is a lot of pressure on people to succeed and do well.

Quite mean to call a country vile.

    • He also has sexual assault allegations. Of course that hasn’t been proven yet, but it’s weird AF to call that a “mistake”

    • “Has obviously lived a decent life since”

yeah if you call the DUI in his 30s and repeated instances of physically assaulting junior colleagues “living a decent life”..

  2. He really ran at the speed of light. And now someone else in the industry has exposed him for violence and mistreatment in the past. There might be more coming out.

I wonder why some people were quick to assume he changed his ways and lived a decent life after committing those crimes. He had DUI and assault cases as a young adult as well… People don’t change easily!

    • they just wanna act holier than thou and pretend that they’re better tha the knetz. Although I do believe some knetz are just pure insane, but preferably in this case, it’s not wrong for them to actually hate him cuz he looks like he feels no remorse for his crime. And he even had the audacity to keep it hidden and act like a saint. Disgusting behaviour indeed.

  3. Wish they do the same to vile school bullies and hardcore child predators. Not even sure what he did in and his age but shouldn’t he be heard? Repentant people deserves 2nd chance? Anyway this may be Korean speak for laying low since you can always come out of retirement.

  4. Korea doesnt seem (for the most part) to cancel actor’s projects forever when questionable pasts are revealed, so hopefully these shows will still air.

    • Yeah, total cancellation only applies to women, sadly. Joo Ji Hoon was able to come back even tho Koreans seem to think that using drugs is the worst thing you can do, and he’s now a critically acclaimed actor with hits under his belt. He’s also recently cast in a high-budget drama. There’s also the r*pist Park Shi Hoo, all it took for him was to bow and “apologize” and bam, he’s in dramas again, even had a hit with Golden Life and that sageuk drama.

This actor is a man, he’ll be fine. I’d rather spare my sympathy and give it to female celebrities instead, they go through the biggest witchhunts and get cancelled for way less

  5. I personally don’t care about Signal 2 (I kind of struggled to finish season 1), but I have to say that normally juvie records are sealed or even erased after a few years of crimeless adulthood, and the reason is exactly to give the kid who made some bad choices to start over. Has he committed any crimes since? If not, this seems unfair.

  6. Aren’t juvenile records sealed? Based on all the comments no one accepts/ believes anyone who has served their time. No wonder people released from jail don’t stand a chance. Its not as if the court imposed a restriction on where he works or stay.

  7. If he committed any crimes in his youth and has not proven anything guilty since then, he certainly should be given a 2nd chance. Ppl should stop getting temperamental when there may be witch hunting going on with a celeb, be it a woman or a man.
