K-drama Signal 2 Likely Shelved After tvN Leaves it Off 2026 Drama Promo Slate After Male Lead Jo Jin Woong’s Scandal and Retirement From Industry
There are many shelved dramas in both K-ent and C-ent, ones that have never seen the light and others released quietly a long time after whatever scandal halted its release. The high profile big budget Signal 2 (The Second Signal), the long awaited second season to the hit 2016 tvN drama has likely joined that ignominious group. This week tvN released its promos highlighting the slate of 2026 K-dramas on deck and Signal 2 was noticeably left off. The drama was intended to be a tentpole release for the network and having it missing signals (pun intended) that the drama is shelved, at least for the time being. This sucks for leads Lee Je Hoon and Kim Hye Soo, and the cast and crew, to be so impacted by the scandal involving third lead Jo Jin Woong. He was revealed to have a juvenile arrest record for car theft and sexual assault, and later came a revelation that he was also has an explosive temper at times during his career. Jo Jin Woong apologized and straight up retired from the industry, but viewers may still have issues watching Signal 2 with him playing a righteous police officer. Even if Signal 2 airs many years later the momentum and connection with the viewers will be long gone by then.

I wonder what made Dispatch reveal his juvenile past at such a timing. They would usually wait till the celebrity’s at the height of his or her fame and then release the bomb.
He even changed his real name, so probably no one knew about this. This is the kind of thing that only the closest to him would know
I feel sad for my Dad cos I remember him watching it dubbed in our language on a local TV network here and he was so into it and not wanting to wait for the next episode that he asked my younger brother to download it so he can finish it even if he had to read subtitles which he usually doesn’t have the patience for. He was asking if there was a Signal 2 when he was done watching it……
Imo one of the best kdramas ever made.
They can show Squid games with the multiple sexual predators but not this? Ok
Was anyone convicted?
Well… All I can say is that it’s a shame for the cast, crew and us viewers, but Jo Jinwoong’s past crimes are just too severe to be ignored.
Why can’t they broadcast it abroad or make blu-ray, DVD so that Koreans don’t have to watch it.
Netflix should release it!
It’s stupid, he got punished for what he did.
