First Look at Dylan Wang as a General and Meng Zi Yi as a Reborn Empress in C-drama The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage
The brouhaha over Zhang Ling He looking too pretty and made up as the General in C-drama Pursuit of Jade reminded me that another pretty boy is currently filming as a General as well for his upcoming period C-drama. So I went to check in on my homie Dylan Wang in the production of The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage (Chinese title Jiang Men Du Hou 将门独后), which started filming last month in February with Dylan and Meng Zi Yi. Dylan’s role as Xie Jing Xing is basically the uber perfect male lead – genius young General and also Crown Prince turned future Emperor. The on set filming leaks are out and he looks okay, clearly a flower boy but at least he’s carrying the heavy costume rather then letting it overwhelm him. I think the production could take this time and dirty him up more and of course by the time this drama airs sometime in 2027 this whole thing will blow over. As for Meng Zi Yi, the drama has done its best to make her look younger by keeping the makeup light, softer hairstyle with less doodads, and clean lines on her dress robes.

Just AI swap Dylan’s face with Peter Ho’s ugly face! lol. Then C netizens can stop seething, and PLA can get back to their business purging top brass! lmao
If they wanna remove all the pretty boys, then the trillion dollar C-ent industry will collapse! 😂😂😂
That looks acceptable. He is a typical idol but still not as bad as foundation general. She is… The same as always.
I’ll take my pretty boy general any day! I swear C nets have an issue with literally EVERYTHING.
As long as the drama doesn’t do excessive marketing and his fans don’t go around defending valid criticisms. One of the many reasons for the foundation general issue getting blown out of proportions was dumb fans going around posting about preferring their generals this way after C-netz’s criticisms.
I also don’t doubt that anti-China syndicates have a hand in fueling this issue. From the drama’s subtle whitewashing of Taiwan’s Chiang Kai-shek’s Yellow River dikes bombing, to a bunch of water armies actively trying to pit ZLH and the drama’s fans against C-netz on Chinese SNSes. It reminds me of the 227 incident where anti-China syndicates also pit AO3 fans against C-ent’s largest fandom.
Can’t you be dumber? lol 😪😪😪😭😭😭
“Answer a fool according to her folly, or she will be wise in her own eyes.”
Hah. Anxious that I start exposing the truth, Taiwanese American? 😇 As someone familiar with marketing and reverse virality, I can tell you, any scandal that brews for more than 3 days on the web is definitely being fuelled by some organization. Even on youtube, there’s a bunch of accounts constantly creating anti-China content. You think the average person is so free to constantly create hate videos everyday? Nah, it’s because they belong to anti-China syndicates. Just like you, who never fails to drag C-netz and CCP in every article here.
The 227 incident happened shortly after covid-19 broke out, when the Chinese government was busy trying to contain the outbreak, and lasted for more than a year. Why? To stir more unrest in China by dividing their people against each other, AO3 fans against celebrity A’s fans, students against teachers etc. I’ve mentioned before that at that time, there were several 227 accounts on weibo posting slogans and posters in Traditional Chinese reminiscent of the protests in HK, fanning AO3 fans’ emotions and inciting them to create trouble. While another group of accounts went undercover into celebrity A’s fandom and constantly egged them on to fight back. Good thing celebrity A realized what’s happening and got his fandom to remain silent and stay low.
“Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.”
LOL, CCP the lackey Lilith is least qualified for talking about God’s love!!!!!! CCP is demon possessed! lol
Such a stretch to relate the plot of a fantasy drama to Taiwan’s politics! You look like a buffoon! lol.
Nah, YOU are the least qualified to talk about God’s teachings, the one possessed by demons is you, seeing as you are always going around smearing C-netz and spreading hate.
Sure sure, of course you are going to deny any wrongdoings from Taiwan. After all, according to you, only China engages in media propaganda while Taiwan and US don’t, right? LOL 😂
LOL. Only fools don’t know CCP are demon possessed thugs! The regime is the enemy to the entire country and its people! I’ve noted Lilith #1 CCP lackey since day 1 I started to visit this site. lol.
They are miscast.
I think Meng Ziyi’s problem is she lacks intensity in her roles. She has contemplative looks and can give requisite emotions, but not much else. Serviceable but not enough to affect or touch anyone.
This novel repeated mention just how handsome the male lead is… so finding the right looks is important for this drama. No problems there.
Because I love this novel so much, here’s my hope:
Shen Miao: Black bellied fourteen year old who slaughters entire (evil) households with a tiny smile while looking on with a glimmer of hatred.
Xie JingXing: Eighteen year old black bellied Marquis Heir Apparent with a hidden identity who spent 160 chapters mostly in the sidelines watching the main character being even more maliciously ruthless than him.
Probable Drama: Going to cut out the first 100 chapters, move most revenge time line forward to mix with male lead’s expanded own story so as to give him more to do. There’s no romance until she turned 18.
Rewrite the long ending chapters to give main bad guys more relevance in TV drama.
This rewrite will give the romance more focus but the Main Character’s Lone Ranger brilliance will be dimmed since after chap 174 it’s all about XJX’s “amazing, scary-powerful, exceptionally manipulative “ maneuvers at chasing his woman and beating every enemy and love opponent.
I guess I can accept this version (since I wrote it 😹) but gosh, I hope they won’t rewrite the very nuanced Pei Lang too much. He was the most layered character.
With the new rules about making Generals ‘more historically accurate’ I wonder if they’ll change his styling now. Personnally I think Dylan Wang would still look sexy with a tannish appearance and mussed hair. He can carry that look with makeup and then remove it for daily life. Or maybe the production will do it with computer effects after filming? I’m showing my age here but Dylan Wang with tanner skin would facially resemble Ren from the cartoon “Pirates of Dark Water” who I always thought was hot.
