May 2026 has been off to an uneventful start, the only new drama arrival with A Splendid Match with Ren Min and Ci Sha reportedly a splendid bore. But we have a new drama to look forward to as this week sees the arrival of Zhan Zhao Adventures (雨霖铃 Yu Lin Ling) on Youku streaming, starring Yang Yang, Zhang Ruo Nan, and Fang Yi Lun. It’s an investigative wuxia drama along the lines of The Wanted Detective, with a built in male lead character known as the right hand man of renowned Justice Bao the unbribable judge. In terms of timing this is great, with Yang Yang coming off a small success last year with The Immortal Ascension and this being Zhang Ruo Nan’s first buzzy drama since her massively elevation thanks to The First Frost.
